    q6700 8gig 9600gt
  1. one thing that always gets me when it comes to picking is features. some have better audio but lack in fan control (just for example). is asus maxiumus hero board feature of sonic radar more of a gimick and just a software hog. or is it something worth actually having in mind when comparing in features
  2. im building a new computer soon and will be gaming more than anything on it. decided to go with a i5 4670k and or i7 4770k(for future proofing) and i have been looking at mobos for the past week. ive narrowed down the price range im thinking i can enjoy paying which is around the 200$ mark. i wont mind going up to 250 or so if it is actually warranted. i have been going back and forth between about 8 different mobos that all are near same price and each giving different features that look great. the price range im looking for is about 1500$ to 1800$ ill be playing on a 2560x1440 monitor(already bought), will be picking up the r9 290x graphics card and will stay single card for awhile. ill be more than likely Ethernet directly to my modem/router the msi gd65 for 188$. - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130692 (theres the g45 version ive looked at, not sure how that holds up against this one. ASUS Z87-PRO for 200$ - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131979 ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO for 200$ - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131989 ASRock Z87 Extreme6 for for 175$ - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157371 (saw the extreme6/ac version for a bit more but getting less reviews?) msi mpower for 200$ - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130691 (theres an SP version that just recently came out for the same price, not sure what it has extra over this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130725) ASRock Z87 OC Formula for 265$ - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157380 (good reviews from many sites) i know just like graphics cards the higher you go the better features you can get, which it seems the range for mobos are 200$ and than 250+ which for any of the boards they all look very tempting in my eyes no matter the price. just like the maximus, i saw videos on the formula version that was going for 300$ and it was just as tempting as the hero. sorry again for listing a lot of different boards.
  3. im sure im late to the party, but just wanted to say, id always go for a single higher upgraded card over a dual sli setup, even if the price of the single is more. you are dealing with a card that is over all newer to the market(the 6950) than the 460, and the company will focus more on the new card when it comes to drivers so you will get more improved performance. will also get lower heat and lower electricity bill in the long run.
  4. i just recently got the cooler master elite 430, love it to death. price is low, look is great, and the inside is large to fit just about any graphics card and still have room for great airflow.
  5. grats to the winners lol. wish i knew about this thread sooner.
  6. i am on a prebuilt machine, back when i got it, sure it was nice and all. but as time went, i was heavily limited to what i could upgrade. the motherboards that are in prebuilt are made specifically for the model and you have to look around just for what you need. i wish i went with building my own at the time, but was very uneducated and was to scared, a regret i have to live with. with price, its always a gamble to go with prebuilt or do it yourself, but with the experience you get when you do it yourself, you feel a lot better when you can say you built your own.
  7. i know a lot of people in here are talking about amazing cases. i just got the cooler master elite 430, its around 30-40 bux or so, and i have been loving. very minimal look and large enough inside to have amazing airflow with a lot of room for large video cards.
  8. good luck everyone, and a happy merry christmas to all.
  9. i cant get a picture of my setup but my motherboard is the Asus IPIBL-LB. from the hp pavilion elite m9250f. its pretty old, but i put in 8 gigs of ram and a new vid card of the 9600gt. i just recently won an i7 980x processory from the intelgameon boothe at a local store they were at, so building a computer around that would be a dream come true and quite helpful in less money for me to spend with that motherboard. the super pipes, dual 8pinn power connectors, and of course the 3.0 usb and sata 6gb/s support is always a wanted feature on any motherboard nowadays.
