  1. ... But what the hell is Folding. I see people in different forums around the pc community talking about it, and I have no idea what it is.
  2. How old is the machine? I doubt 7 could run on a computer running 98, as some XP computers can't even run it.
  3. Actually, Zune's use their own software that is just as clunky. On topic, I have the same problem, i think it's an iTunes glitch, it's probably a flaw in the code.
  4. It was crashing on BC2 and L4D2. i ran this rig for 3 weeks before installing this card without any blue screening. The recommended wattage for this card is 450, and I have a 1 1/2 week old 500w in the rig. That should about answer everything you asked haha. I repeated the process again, this time going into the device manager to uninstall the drivers, and then ran driver sweeper to get rid of any erroneous registry files. Then I rebooted and reinstalled, so I'll see how it works now.
  5. Just got another one, but I didn't catch the code this time. Is there anyway to make sure that everything in the ATI file gets deleted? when I tried before, it wouldn't let me move some files to the recycle bin, as they were still in use.
  6. The only problem I see with that, is that his PSU is too small. I agree with the 5750 though, I judt got one and i LOVE it.
  7. Okay, I've done that and rreinstalled the drivers, so hopefully that'll fix my issue.
  8. Thanks to the opinions of users in this forum, i just got a new HD 5570 graphics card, which by the way, is friggin SICK! Anyway, I was playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2 today, and it was fine for about 20 minutes before it froze, and i got a BSOD, with the error message : PFN_List_Corrupt. From the research I've done, it's an issue where a driver is writing onto a section of memory it shouldn't, or something like that, but I have no idea how to fix it. Help?

I got 3583 on low, but when i tried high, it gave me a bsod, I'm think my new 5750 flipped out trying to run 1920x1800 on a 19" screen lol
  10. Actually, a GTS 250 has the same gpu as a 9800gt, and will give a very small performance boost in his case.
  11. I could be wrong, but I believe that the card goes into a low power consumption state (basically dropping the core clock and and memory clock speeds) to save power when not being used intensively.
  12. I'm just going to stick with the 5750, I no longer have a semi-steady income to work with, so all I can afford is the $130 right now. I'm thinking I'll go with this one , and I was wondering how XFX is as a company, in honoring warranties and such.
  13. Would it make sense to spend the extra $30 for a 5770?
  14. Yeah, I canceled that order so I can research a wee bit more, the extra 600+ stream processors sound like a good thing lol. I'm still worried 18 amps at the 12v rail on my psu won't be enough : (
  15. I completely forgot that I made this thread lol. I went with the 250 before I got a chance to look at the 5750's. I've heard that the ATI drivers are pretty terrible for windows 7 htough, and I don't need more problems with this computer haha.
  16. So, I've been slowly but surely building up my PC since i started making some money doing oddjobs. I started with a Core i5-750 and MSI mobo, then gutted an old computer for the disc drive, and hdd. I've got more money now, and it's time to upgrade this horrible 7950gt. I like to play games, but I don't really care about maxing out the resolution and graphics. I currently have my eye on this, but I'm not sure how Zotac is as a company. I was heavily leaning toward some EVGA GTS 250's, but I wanted the HDMI port. I've got around $130 right now, but I can always hold off for a few weeks to get more money for a better card. Currently, I'm just playing WoW, and MW2 on my rig, but I have Battlefield Bad Company 2, and it barely runs. I guess I just want a card that will run smoothly at 1024x768, maybe even up to 1280x800. Any sugggestions? P.S. I just got a 500w OCZ modstream, but it only puts out 20 amps on the 12v rail. I got it before i researched the power requirements of the cards i was looking at, most of which require at least 24 amp minimum. Should I send this one back to newegg, and get something better?
  17. Okay, so I just ordered a new power supply off of newegg (the OCZ 500MXSP) but I'm not sure if it will be sufficient. I'm a total beginner at building computers, and I'm learning a lot by thinking I got something right, researching it, and realizing that's not the case. So when I saw this psu on sale at newegg, I thought it was a steal. I, however had no idea what I actually needed in a power supply other than the 2 6 pin connectors I wanted. I'm starting to worry that my system might not get enough juice. What's the best way to figure out how much power your system needs? My specs are: Core i5-750 cpu MSI P55-CD53 Mobo BFG 7950gt (soon to be Zotac GTX260) 2 gigs DDR3 ram 250 gig HDD IDE DVD-RW drive That's everything, I think. Oh, and I currently have a 480w "max" psu that I think actually puts out 330w continuous. I'll look into it. (EDIT: here is the psu I have now.)
  18. I built my first system yesterday, well, really, I just gutted my old Dell besides a new i5 and mobo, but I haven't had the time nor money to pick up a new video card. I'm currently rollin with a 7950gt I bought from a friend for $20, but it won't run Battlefield: BC2 very well, and I jsut won't stand for that. I've been looking at a few cards, and I'm kinda stuck between this 250 and this 9800GTX+ What are your thoughts? I'm also open to suggestion, as long as it's in the $90-130 range. Also, I'm not opposed to ATI cards, I've just only ever been exposed to Nvidia, and don't really know much about the Radeon line. Thanks!
  19. Hey All, I just joined the site. I built my first system yesterday, and have been researching overclocking quite a bit when I stumbled across this forum. After reading through it a bit, I like the way things are handled round here. I'm hoping to be a part of this community for awhile to come : )
