  1. Cool, thanks for the advice. Any suggestions on ram timings bish?
  2. One thing you can do if you don't have any PCI cards, is just mount a regular 80/92 MM fan to the bottom of your case facing upwards towards your video card.
  3. Well when it was OC'd it wasn't 24 second prime stable. Also how long should I run prime when I am checking every 2-3 fsb?
  4. Their stock HS is a little bit better than the other cards. That is the only thing that would help it OC better.
  5. That would be a very good guess indeed. I am using Mushkin Level II PC 3500 BH5 ram. What would be some good timings for a stable OC?
  6. I have also heard great things about the Artic cooling VGA silencer. It's more money but it might be worth it (already ordered mine).
  7. I had my 2500+ set at 200 X 11 and I found it to be unstable in Prime95. I have since put it back to stock settings. I am going to try and burn it in on every step (every increase of 2 in the fsb or so). Should I let Prime95 burn it for the full 24 hours every time I increase the FSB by 2? Also since I already had it set higher before without burning it in, will burning it in now help it become more stable later?

    Prime95 Woes

Yes I am overclocking. I have my 2500+ set at 200 X 11 right now. Suppose I'll try to play with some of the voltages.

    Prime95 Woes

Whenever I try to run the Prime95 torture test it runs for about 2 seconds and then displays this error message: "FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4" The program then stops the test. Never had a lockup or CTD because of this but the test won't run. Any ideas?
  10. Using Rage3d tweak I have only been able to get 357 core and 310 mem before I start getting a lot of memory errors and random shutdowns of my benchmark programs (aquamark3 and 3dmark2001se). Those are the signs that your vid card is running too hot correct? I thought I could get a little more out of this thing before I started running into problems. BTW I have two intake fans on the front, one on the side, and two exhausts in the back (all 80 MM Sunon).
  11. I have a Panaflow 92MM (H) on mine. Idles at 37
  12. Ok, I will look into the bios. However I do have third party programs displaying the exact same temp.
  13. All of my voltages look fine in the bios. I'm at work now so I can't check my cards, but I only have the video card in the agp and that's it. I have not flashed the bios, however the place that I bought it from said that they install the new bios onto the boards (well this one anyway) to make sure it is 400 FSB compatible. Perhaps I should look into the bios though... And no, I don't have another system to test components.
  14. Hi guys, I just built a new rig that I was planning on over clocking. I used the advice that I received off of this site and my rig is as follows. Motherboard is an Abit NF7-S Rev 2.0, CPU is a 2500+ Barton, Mushkin Level II PC 3500, Radeon 9700 Pro, and an Antec True 420 PS. For cooling I'm using an SLK-900a with a 92 MM 60 CFM Panaflow fan. The problem is whenever the cpu sees a decent amount of load my computer completely shuts off and my temp warning sensor goes off. The temps I am seeing (verified by the Bios, Sisoft Sandra, and Motherboard Monitor) are 39* C idle, and the highest temp I have ever seen at load was 46* C. By no means are these temps extreme, I have no idea why my comp is crashing. I mean it will crash just installing programs, I'm not trying to pass the Prime95 24 hour test or anything here... Also whenever I move the FSB up at all my comp will not even load windows (literally, 167 FSB and it won't happen). Any clues on that? I have dloaded all new drivers for the mobo, video card and all of the windows updates (98 SE btw). I am at a loss here guys. Any help you guys can give me would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long post.
  15. Cool, thanks a lot guys. I just got the rest of my parts in the mail today, so I'll see what kinda OC I can do following all of the advice I've got from this site!
  16. Occasionaly as I am reading over the replys to posts people mention "burning in the CPU" or something like that anyway. I am under the impression that you should do this before you try to OC anything. But my real question is what is burning in the CPU?
  17. Ok, after already ordering the wrong ram once I want to make super sure that this is the right stuff. Mushkin 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-3500 Black Hi Perf Level II - OEM Specification Manufacturer: Mushkin Model: 991096 Speed: DDR433(PC3500) Type: 184 Pin DDR SDRAM Error Checking: Non-ECC Registered/Unbuffered: Unbuffered Cas Latency: 2 Support Voltage: 2.5V-2.75V Bandwidth: 3.5GB/s Organization: 64M x 64 -Bit Warranty: Lifetime Look like the good stuff?
  18. What about Mushkin Level 2 PC 3500. Would that do well with a high FSB?
  19. What about regular EL stuff? It said it was CL2
  20. Hi guys, I'm a complete OC newb but I have been browsing this board for about a week now and I want to try some OC'ing of my own. I can't seem to find a pre week 39 cpu anywhere locally, and the cheapest ones on the net are ~$125 (ebay). Am I correct in thinking that the stock multiplier on them is 11.5? And that if I use good mobo/ram (A7N8XD/OCZ PC3500) that I can get the FSB to atleast 200 or so and then the 11.5 will be plenty high enough? Or should I shell out the extra cash and get the pre week 39 one? Sorry if this post was unclear, I'm new on a lot of the terminology.
