    Memtest86 dual channel reboots

I just updated BIOS from 1.4 to 1.6 (found something about memory support in change log :thumbs-up:) . After that memtests86 3.5 and 3.4 wont even run. It boots from cd.. got menu to choose version it loads but never realy starts Assumed iso or cd was faily and downloaded most recent memtest86+ 4.0 which is testing my sticks as we speak. Used settings even bit better than stock - 7-8-7 and everything seems fine until now - pass 48% B:) Going to try prime95 later on. Are there any other soft for memory testing you could recommend?

    Memtest86 dual channel reboots

I just tryed combinations of 1T / 2T + 1.5V / 1.8V and both still causing same moment test #1 crash in memtest v3.5, memtest 3.4 is fine however so im confused Soon im going to install windows and stuff will see how stable it is during benchmarks and gaming.
  3. Building new PC and decided to memtest ram sticks. I left one of them for memtesting during night it did 25 passes (9 hours:p) without error, but when i added second one today for dual channel the memtest just goes through test #0 and 45% on #1 then reboots every time. I tested the second stick alone and it went through pass without errors. So alone they work fine but dual channel seem to be something wrong. I've been trying with memory stock settings: memory ratio 6=1600MHz, timings 8-8-8-24 on both channels and voltage 1.38 V (it's g.skill ecos, should be 1.35 but the step is like 0.075 and can set only ...1.305 / 1.38 / 1.45... so 1.38 is closest), as well as bios fail-safe defaults: 1333MHz. 9-9-9-24, auto voltage. Both results in reboot at 45% of first memtest in dual channel. This only happens in memtest86 version 3.5.. I did dual channel test in oold 3.4 and got 1 pass without errors. (3.5 changelog) This is what i found in mobo manual about dual channel: So i think mems are installed correctly in dimm1 and 3 but maybe im wrong? (still on box cooling becouse package with prolimatech beeing late ) What is causing this crashes in new memtest? Is that something wrong with my hardware?

    Power suply question

I am building PC atm and was wondering should i use 20 or 24 pin version of power for motherboard and 4 or 8 pin for cpu? Mobo manual says it supports both versions and the psu cables are devided into 20+4 and 4+4 so.. Whats the diference and which is better? I made a photo of 20+4 connected should i remove 4 or leave it like that?:

What are the pros and cons of having low voltage memory like eco 1.35v?

    Two rig options

After all i bought i7 860, msi gd80, hdd 500gb samsung f3, dvd Samsung SH-S223C SATA, sapphire hd5870 Still need to get case, psu, rams and ssd. I am not gonna go for xfire on p55 for sure. I decided for PSU: OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W / 600W but i would like to get some opinion on it. Maybe i should still consider something esle? And if not 500W or 600W. SSD for system: only reasonable choice seems the 40gb intel or kingston atm what do you think? Rams i want to buy G.Skill eco 1600 cl7 2x2, but maybe you could suggest something else Case antec 902... but mybe something bigger hmm

    Two rig options

I am planing to build me gaming PC but im n00b and would love to get some advice from you harware specialists. It will be runing pritty much 24/7 with rare reboots so cooling and stuff is important for me. Display would be 1920x1200 (hp w24080h). 1st cheaper option would be: Intel Core i5-750 /2.66GHz, 8MB, LGA1156, BOX/ Noctua NH-U12P Patriot 4GB (2x2GB) 1600MHz CL8 Viper II Sector5 MSI P55-GD65 /intel P55, DualDDR3-2133MHz, GLan, 1394/ Samsung 500GB 7200rpm 16MB cache SATA-II F3 //maybe two in raid 0 Sapphire Radeon HD5870 Vapor-X 1024MB DDR5 /256bit/ Samsung SH-S223B SATA (black) OCZ Fatal1ty 550W Antec 902 / CM HAF 922 ARCTIC SILVER 5 Alternative: Intel Core i7-920 /2.66GHz, 4.8 GT/s, 8MB, LGA1366, 45nm, BOX/ 36 Patriot 6GB (3x2GB) 1333MHz CL7 Viper LLK wieczysta Scythe Mugen II Rev.B 24 Foxconn BloodRage GTI /intel x58/ 36 2x raid0 Samsung 500GB 7200rpm 16MB cache SATA-II F3 Sapphire Radeon HD5870 Vapor-X 1024MB DDR5 /256bit/ 2xDVI/HDMI/DP 24 Samsung SH-S223B SATA (black) 24 Antec Gamer Nine Hundred Two (bez zasilacza) 24 Antec TruePower New 650W 24 ARCTIC SILVER 5 So what do you think about both this rigs and what should be replaced in them eventualy? Do you think its worth adding cash for the second one or first one will be runing and OCing just fine?

How To Successfully Build A Computer

This guide is full of win. Just what i've been looking for. Convinced me to build rig myself.
  15. Im planning such setup: Intel Core i5-750 /2.66GHz, 8MB, LGA1156, BOX/ Noctua NH-U12P Patriot 4GB (2x2GB) 1600MHz CL8 Viper II Sector5 MSI P55-GD65 /intel P55, DualDDR3-2133MHz, GLan, 1394/ Samsung 500GB 7200rpm 16MB cache SATA-II F3 // maybe two in raid 0 Sapphire Radeon HD5870 Vapor-X 1024MB DDR5 /256bit/ Samsung SH-S223B SATA (black) Will power suply OCZ Fatal1ty 550W SLI LED or ModXStream Pro 500W gonna be enough for this setup? If yes which would be better? Im newbie in OC but probably ill try cpu to 3,6-4Mhz and some little RAM / Graphic OC. Just saying in case it matter for power suply. PS. What do you think of that setup for gaming 1920x1200?
