  1. So you'd treat it like this: "love it and care for it"
  2. There's an outtakes video up now, including the first time Vader entered the car (he forgot how tall he was).
  3. It seems to me you are finding excuses and reasons for both options, so I suggest you stick with what you originally planned, it'll be simpler than continuing to try to justify changing the plan and keeping the 460. Then get the next card you like that clearly defeats the 4870x2 in everything.
  4. CowKing, I just realized that you have my name in that list in the first post. Please add to it GuestJim, without the symbols, because they aren't in my Steam name (Steam wouldn't take them). Just in case someone looks to that to add people.
  5. The changes we're in support of are changes back Would it be possible to have member's enable and disable the rep system for themselves? For instance I don't really care so I could set it in my account so no one can give me rep nor can I give anyone else rep. Or is that not a feature of the software?
  6. Another solution would be only allow staff, admins, and moderators to give points, based on the same criteria that everyone was supposed to follow. Members could recommend someone get the rep, but only those few could actually grant it. Of course this would add some more work to those people, but it wouldn't be a forum if I didn't offer my idea. To be honest though, I don't see the point of the system. The most active posters either know what they're talking about, have a good idea of what they're talking about, or know enough to stay quiet. The new people will probably try to take the most in depth response or get the average feeling of all the responses. Really I don't think an explicit rep system is needed, because the implicit one should be enough. If you're posting something, chances are you're not trying to mislead anyone, and if you are, you will be in the minority and enough other people will shoot down your response that there will be good information to replace the bad.
  7. Awesome job. I've been thinking about doing something like that for a few months (really I have). In fact, I brought some stuff with me to work today to work some more on designing it. I see that you mounted the optical beneath a self, and am curious as to how you did that. Specifically what you did to hold it there, because that's what I would want to do, if I ever build the thing. Do you use brackets like for the PSU? How loud does it get, with it at the same level as your head? Really this is an awesome job, and may help me work on my thing. You know, if it can be cone once, why can't I do it.
  8. The release copies of 7 I've bought come with a single key for both 32bit and 64bit, so the key will be fine. There are no 64bit processors that won't run 32bit applications on the market. That Intel comment may have been that a 64bit CPU is needed to run a 64bit OS, and a 32bit CPU can't run a 64bit OS or any programs you try to access in the 64bit OS. I've never heard of a 32bit program not running on a 64bit system, but I don't doubt Sleinous. I would think it is very unlikely for there to be issues, and Sleinous is a one in a million person As Sleinous pointed out Ultimate has XP-mode, in case you do have problems.
  9. AudioSurf is another game that analyzes your music, like Beat Hazard, and is quite fun. I second Torchlight, also quite fun and allows mods (be careful though, the Boss Map Level mod let my level 80 character go to level 380 in about two-three hours of work, kind of kills the mod, because then so little is a challenge). I also enjoy Supreme Commander 2, which is an RTS. I did some the Starcraft 2 beta and didn't care for it myself. Though that may have been because I had no experience at it and was being thrown into multiplayer matches against decidedly more skilled people. Now the Command and Conquer 4 beta, that was different. Played as support class against two people (both higher level than me), held them off for 40 minutes before I had to go to dinner. For 30 minutes of that I was in the lead, with a single build cue. That was fun. Can't recommend C&C 4 though, because I haven't played the release game, same for Starcraft 2; can neither recommend for nor against as I only know the betas.
  10. Death, keep to the chainsaw and leave the jokes alone. Anyway, yeah, some of the weapons did seem weaker; the pdw took a few shots more (of course it fires so fast...) and that tech-only weapon (can't think of the name). I remember taking that thing and being able to make it through a level with it, either killing aliens before they kill me, or having ammo at the end. Not anymore, and unless the team makes a concerted effort to stay together, the tech's dead. It would have made sense to me if they limited who can use what and the bonuses the characters get, so if they want to tech to be weaker, make it weaker. If they want the medic to just heal, then limit it, etc. Balance my changing characters not the weapons.
  11. Thanks for posting the link. I watch enough tech news sites that I'll forget where I read things. I had been thinking about getting a 460 myself, but would wait for prices to drop and to have $200 I can blow, without any regret (need to buy textbooks soon and other expenses), but with that rumor, I'll wait a bit longer.
  12. I don't know about the dual GF104, but I agree you should wait, hang on to the 4870x2 and give the 460 to your cousin. There are rumors that nVidia will release a GTX 475 based on the GF104, which has me interested. Besides, prices will drop.
  13. Also says it may be OEM only. Maybe we've found the 960T? The chips they do this to (disable cores and cache) normally are unstable, so maybe the best settings the failed 6-cores offer are that low, compared to what the 960T was suppose to be. Hopefully more info will becoming. Still find it odd that if the AOD update was from the beginning of the month(7/2) why have the rumor mills not been going on about this?
  14. Apparently the recording was not made (for many anyway), but let it be known that Deathmineral is better at this game than both Andrewr05 and me. We died and he carried on for the win, completing the majority of the mission (landing bay, hard). He then did almost the same thing on the next mission, but those vile aliens snuck up from behind!
  15. I just started up AMD Overdrive and it said there was a new version, would I like to update? I told it yes, and then searched to find the installer online. I couldn't find it, but fortunately AOD downloaded the installer for the update. When the installer got to the point of putting up the release notes, I noticed something that I had not heard of; an AMD 840T processor. Here is the release notes for version 3.2.3 and 3.2.2 (the latest version at AMD's site is 3.2.1) 840T Since it mentions having Turbo Core and has the T in the name, I'm thinking this is the 6 minus 2 core processor based on Thuban. I recall there being rumors or speculation of a 960T, that most were sure would be an OEM part (but still the six core with two disabled) but never an 840T. Also, as it mentions "core multiplier overclocking" could that mean it is unlocked and BE? Any ideas or information? I haven't heard of this before now and am quite curious.
  16. I haven't laughed that hard for a long time. If you're on the mic, I'll be interested, and recording it all.
  17. I'm in for another run too. Can be online around 4:30pm EST.
  18. I've noticed that too, that while the GPU says its running at 99-100% the temperatures are not what benchmarks get to. I've got one idea for while, but am not sure because I don't know very much about the layout of a graphics card. Folding uses the shading cores, so if you want to over clock for folding, those are what you want to mess with, not the GPU core itself. Is it possible that the shaders are at 99-100% and generating heat, while the GPU core is not being used, so it doesn't generate heat, like a benchmark would cause. I can see the memory controller is not being used much (16% right now while folding) so that may not put out as much heat as a benchmark would. That's all I can think of.
  19. I've just been experimenting with this and have found one interesting thing. If you try to save the image it comes up as a .php file, while really being a .png file. Is it possible that's what the invalid extension is, "php?"
  20. Don't worry about it. Nope, no deep understanding of the code, I was just lucky before when I figured out how to add it. I am investigating it now, so maybe I'll be lucky again. My sig is going to be changing quite a bit as I experiment. Did you read the article I posted about above?
  21. Did you know that by my editing my signature it would break the banner? If I get it working again I'll tell you how, in the other thread.
  22. I found this article interesting, and felt like sharing it. Not as Web savvy as you think: Young people give Google, other top brand search results too much credibility Essentially, Northwestern University studied how students go about collecting information online to answer certain questions, and found that they are often very trusting of sites that may or may not deserve it. The primary focus of the article is how the students felt that if the site was listed at the top of Google, or other name brand search engines or websites, then it must be credible. Sorry everyone, but just because it's on the internet, doesn't mean it's always true. Of course the article does not specify if the questions given to the students could be properly answered by the top sites that Google gives, but still something to think about.

    Starcraft II

There are reasons I don't play it and never want to.
