  1. Hmm my eyes were on the 5850...I hope the price goes down just a bit...even more i hope they get back in stock!
  2. After thinking about it, I wouldn't mind waiting a few months if the 17 and 5850's drop down to around the $200 mark. it seems like a big tech upgrade and figure the prices will be lower after christmas. what do you guys think? can i expect these $270ish items to be more like $200-220ish in a few months?
  3. Alright then, it seems that the best bang for the buck will be the HD 4890 then! I'll get the XFX with the lifetime warranty. Thanks everyone and if you disagree or have anything to add please do so, I'll be checking on this thread for awhile!
  4. I'm shuffling these two around right now http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131366 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128387 How do these look? Any real differences besides the gigabyte not having on-board video and DDR3? Is DDR3 is a big deal? worth it? thanks!
  5. Thanks mate I was thinking that was the case, just looking for some confirmation.
  6. haven't gotten anything yet. Won't be for another 2 weeks or so =)
  7. Well I chose the XFX because of their lifetime warranty. Not sure powercolor has one. I saw the DX11 videos...really nice According to toms hardware benchmarks, the vapor-x performed VERY well, better than the regular 4890. But again, it doesn't have a lifetime warranty. I really like those warranties, and believe me I know being out of warranty and having hardware failure is a nightmare man. I can't go for the 5850, $200 is my limit mate =( basically I'm asking if at $200 the HD4890 is my best bet. It outperforms the GTX 260 I believe, and the 5770 lacks some power.
  8. They are slower than the 4890 though. At least that's what I read in benchmarks.
  9. hey everyone, I've been looking at video cards for my new rig. I want the most power for the least buck. The GTX 260 216core and HD 4890's stood out while browsing. How are they for under $200? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814150438 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102848 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130434 Any advice on what to get would be great =) thanks!
  10. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819103674 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115037 price difference is negligible to me. I game A LOT. I know the i5's are out but I'm not too interested in them, and the price jump to the i7 is too much for me. I mostly just game. The benchmarks here showed the Phenom as being much much more powerful, but want to check with the community first =) thanks!
