  1. Correct me if I am wrong. But I think you just need to have at least 3 sticks to make DDR3 work. If you have 4 sticks then 2 will just be on the same dimm.
  2. I think am at at about 1.9 QPI voltage right now. I really appreciate all of the help. Alot of the ram does not say compatable with x58 motherboards. Am I safe to assume that if it says DDR 3 PC12800 it should be compatible?
  3. Compatible with Intel LGA1155/LGA1156 and AMD AM3/Llano/AM3+ platforms Intel XMP support for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Generation Intel Core Processors Will this work with the LGA1366? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231429
  4. 3x2Gb is what I currently have. Did you use the same type of ram, timing etc. Did you have to increase any voltage once you did this?
  5. Haha. Nice. I read some problems with overclocks when adding 32 Gb. Maybe I should only add 4 x 4 Gb= 16Gb.
  6. Weird question will adding a substantical amount of ram use more CPU and power? I am running a 650 watt power supply.
  7. Probably retiring. I need to fit more ram in each slot. I currently have 2 gB x3 sticks in the machine. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145253 The ram I currently have has been discontinued. I need more ram per slot. It seem the newer ram has much looser timings. Thanks again for all the help. I don't know why I am having so much trouble figuring out what ram to get. I love corsair. Will the lower voltage ram work?
  8. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233296 Will this work? Or will I need to get ram that is rated @ 1600 mhz. The voltage on this is different then the ram I currently have. I am running @ about 1400 mhz currently.
  9. 64 bit os. Thanks so much. I may just get a new kit. Should I take heat spreaders off. http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=faqs&step=2&products_id=31&lng=en
  10. I was thinking of getting some more ram. I currently have a an i7 920. With 6 Gb of ram. Corsair Dominators 7-7-7-20 Running at 9-9-9-24. I have noticed that alot of the newer ram runs and 1.5v opposed to 1.65 volts, and a lot of the ram timings are a lot slower now for DDR3 memory then they were a few years ago. Any thoughts on what I can do to get more memory? Will I have to retire my current memory? I also have a noctua heat sink and may need to remove the heat spreaders on the ram. Is this recomended for OCing the ram. Thanks for all of the help guys.
  11. Hey guys I am deciding to on an internal blu ray drive. The only problem is I don't have internet. Is their any drives that do offline updates?
  12. Is there a way to download the tv guide for media center offline, and then bring to a computer with no internet access?
  13. So I been thinking about replacing the stock fans (Outake) on my 183 case. To get some quieter ones with more air flow. Here are the specs of the current stock fans (120mm): High 2000 2.2 m
  14. Okay thank you. Do you know of any software that can check this?
  15. I am currently over clocked to 3.675 GHZ with My ram is running at about 1440 MHZ BCLK Frequency 175 Intel ® SpeedStep Tech - Enabled Intel ® Turbo Mode Tech - Enabled PCIE Fequency - 100 Load line calibration - enabled CPU VTT (Uncore) Voltage - 1.137 CPU Voltage 1.13600v DRAM Voltage - 1.5 with 9-9-9-24 timings It ran about 16 hours in prime 95 with no errors with idol - 32C load - 60 C IOH Voltage - Auto CPU PLL Voltage - Auto ICH Voltage - Auto CPU PLL Voltage - Auto My question is will leaving IOH voltage, pll votage, and ICH voltage on auto hurt anything? Is that the highest i can go with turbo enabled? I am trying to get max performance not necessarily max over clock. I will be running pro tools 8.0 LE.
  16. Ok, thanks I was a bit confused about that. Any recommendations for the uncore voltage with the CPU voltages at 1.1?
  17. What about the voltage to the ram? Will going 1.66 break the ram?
  18. I have been learning how to overclock the 920. I ran prime 95 on over night and am currently at 59 degrees at load temperatures at stock. I currently have the the CPU voltage at 1.1 for 3.2 GHZ according to this guide: My ram is at 1.5 volts. I was getting around 54 degrees at load temperatures with prime 95 which was less then stock. I though that was strange..... http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/overclockin...-beginners.html My only concern with overclocking is leaving all of the voltages on the AUTO setting. I am afraid the computer will give the uncore voltage too much voltage that would be unnecessary. My other question is it looks like i have to use different ram timings and voltages at different speeds. Is this true? Gigabyte also skipped over 1.65 and went from 1.64-1.66 for the ram. My ram is rated at 1.65 volts at 7-7-7-20 timings. Any ideas?
  19. How is the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 120mm cooler for over clocking?
  20. This is my current build: i7 920 6 Gigs corsair dominator RAM DDR3-1600 GIGABYTE UD5 P183 case Noctua NH-U12P SE2 120mm cooler. corsair HX650- PSU 3 WD caviar Black HD LITE ON BURNER Diamond 4650 dual DVI I bought two of these to replace the stock fans in the P183: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...8-009-_-Product My question is should I put them in the front of the case for intake fans or just use these outake fans. I was thinking of buying two of these: (For a total of 4 system fans.) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...8-004-_-Product I plan to overclock. Are two outake fans good enough? Are they any other fans that you guys would recomend that would still be cool and quiet?
  21. I am going to use a p183 case.
  22. Another thing I like about the 920 it is uses the 1366 socket. The i9's will be using the same socket. Which at first is going to have a hefty price tag, but in a couple years when you want to upgrade again....the price will have come down and you can just pop that sucker in.
  23. I think it is a shootout between: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814150396 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814121324 Is one more powerful then the other the asus one is only 10 dollars more after rebate, but it has less ram, but is a faster card. Again you guys have been a great help. Thanks!!!
