  1. ok thx boinker Does anyone know what the NB voltage is on my mobo, and what I should set it to to achieve stable overclocks on my gpu?
  2. Which of these are NB and IOH voltages? I figured it wasn't vCore, nor DRAM voltage... VCCSA Voltage: 0.9375 VCCIO Voltage: 1.1375 CPU PLL Voltage: 1.55 PCH Voltage: 1.05000 And what should I set them to? EDIT: gaah 907 gave an 0x116 in Kombustor >_<, gonna try with 906 until I find out what NB and IOH voltages are... wow this is so weird.. it felt rock-stable at 909 :/ Also, I actually had a 0x116 before I started OCing... but only in BF3, and I thought it was just cuz it was so fkn bugged... I never got it to work.. but on the other hand... *cough* didn't pay for it *cough* I had to launch the game 3 times to get into the menu.. 1st time screen would go black before intro thing... 2nd time it would freeze at the EA logo, and 3rd time it would go all the way into menus, and when I started to fiddle with ultra settings I would get a 0x116 Same procedure after each restart... 3 launches.. That is fkn weird..... EDIT2: ok so 906 doesn't work now... I think I'll try with stock clocks and smack it through all these tests to see if it's the overclock or I need to raise some voltages... EDIT3: stock overclocks definately stable... so I guess I need to increase the NB or IOH voltage, which I don't know, to get it stable at 909 on the core...
  3. gaaaaah had a 0x116 bsod while playing trackmania... going down to 908 core now, and gonna go through it all again (cinebench OGL test, 30 mins heaven, 30 mins kombustor, 10 mins 3dmark 11 test 4, 1 hour Trackmania and 1 hour Crysis 2) If it doesn't cry about this, then we're going 900MHz on the core and on to the memory OC EDIT: wow lol, seems like we're going 907 on the core.. just had anoter 0x116, but in heaven (odd, it held fine for 30 mins at 909, but at 908 it didn't last 20 mins, oh well this just shows how hard it is to stability test graphics cards xD) EDIT2: so 907 managed OGL and 30 mins of heaven, but now it's 0:23am and I got school at 8 tomorrow, so I'll hit the bed now, and put it through 3Dmark 11, kombustor and some games when I get home... In case 907 is the golden number, is 900MHz still OK for a "safe-mode downclock", or whatever you would call it, or do I need to go lower, since it apparently wasn't fully stable at 909 nor 908?   5. Do I really need to put it back to 899MHz after all these tests? Isn't it rock solid at 909MHz if it can do all this without showing any sign of instability?

Oops, I meant Trackmania Nations Forwever =P I gotta practice a bit, cuz there's a tournament for it at S7LAN, and I came 4th last year, so maybe if I practice this time I might have a chance to win But if you also play that, I'll hit u a PM EDIT: I think I'll play an hour of Worms Reloaded as well... just to be 100% sure it's über stable, and because there is a tourney in Worms Reloaded too xD

A little update on the overclocking =) Seems that 909MHz on the core is the absolute max it will take (910MHz threw a VPU recovery after 15 or 20 mins in Kombustor), but 909MHz survived a Cinebench OpenGL pass, 30 mins in Heaven 2.5, 30 mins in Kombustor and 10 mins of 3Dmark 11 test 4 (looped), at maximum graphical settings. (3Dmark11 test 4 loop for 10mins was advised somewhere I forgot) Gonna play Crysis 2 for 1 hour and then TrackMania Nations for 1 hour when I get up tomorrow, and if that proves stability, I decrease core clock by 10MHz (as advised by Stonerboy779 and Puck), and then I will move onto the memory
  8. Thanks alot everyone! With stock settings I got 78*C on the top card and 74*C on the lower card, both cards decided to run at 44% fan speed at that temp (auto-fan) Let the overclocking begin!

To be 100% sure: Is this the correct settings for Heaven 2.5?: API: DX 11 Stereo 3D: Disabled (I haven't got a 3d monitor anyways) Shaders: High Tesselation: normal (or extreme?) Anisotropy: 16 AA: 8x Full screen: yes Resolution: 1920x1200 (as far as my monitor will go ) If you don't want me to use Furmark, what other max-temp-test software would you recommend me to use? I don't feel good about overclocking and only checking for stability and not temps (crysis 2 produces more heat than Cinebench 11.5 OpenGL or Heaven 2.5 - and maybe other games produce more heat?) Bonus questions: What about a custom fan profile? Is it needed or a good idea? If so, how should it be? I still don't understand how the OpenGL test can test stability (well pre-test, as you said) on both cards in xfire when the 2nd card is at 0% activity through the whole test

  15. Okay I know 70*C is fine for temps, but I don't know how high my GPUs could go, as illustrated... So if I overclock and get stable with temps up to 70*C in Heaven.. when I go in crysis... What's going to happen lol? if temps got 90+ And what if there are games that get higher temps? Aren't there any Furmark-equivalent programs (i.e. "max-temp" finders), that aren't so bad that you would use it, El_Capitan? Don't I need to know the max temps while overclocking?

I tried running the OpenGL test in Cinebench 11.5 and looked at GPU usage It only uses GPU1 (up to 70%) while GPU2 is at 0% all the time But I can confirm that Heaven supports xfire 97-99% usage on both But my worry is temps... I mean, the OpenGL temps barely get temps to 50*C and Heaven 2.5 gets them up to 65*C But in Crysis 2 I can easily reach temps around 70 If I shouldn't use Furmark (sure as hell produces max temps), what should I use then? I mean, I am afraid that I get a stable overclock, with temps fine in OGL and Heaven, but when I start gaming I will burn my GPU
  17. So CineBench OpenGL + Heaven 2.5? Do I need to do something or do they both support crossfire? (unlike Furmark) - I bet Heaven supports xfire, but I just ask to be on the safe side
  18. Should I use Furmark 1.9.1 or 1.8.5? And what settings should I use? so far I picked up I need to use fullscreen to make crossfire work (and possibly change filename of Furmark, to activate a cf profile, but I haven't gotten that far yet) Any specific resolution? what about AA? and why are there so many options?! >_< I wish there was just a button called Furmark and then boom, you're stress testing!

  21. So, you're not suggesting overclocking graphics cards for 24/7? If I misunderstood you - then can you please tell me the procedure for overclocking my 6950s? Should I just do like they did with the 5850s in that link, or do I need to follow a different procedure?

Just OC mem, and then OC the core? Of course I gotta keep both cards at exact same settings - I picked that up in the search But should I also use Furmark? I read somehwere someone saying AMD "throttles" the card, so best to avoid Furmark - Although I think this is just another false rumour about Furmark, but asking anyway Should I bump the Power Control setting to +20% to start with? I think I read somehere it allows higher overclocks BTW: I will not be overvolting the card and I am not going for bench-overclocking - I want to get a 24/7 OC Also: What is the temp u wanna stay below for the 6950s?
