  1. Not advisable to do that, you should take it off and clean away all the paste from both the CPU and HS, before reapplying fresh TIM. Arctic Silver 5 only costs a few pounds and a small tube will last a long time. A mistake a lot make is applying too much, Arctic Silver have guidelines on how much to apply.

I would check your BIOS idle temps, if there is a big difference, then you know something is probably wrong with the monitoring software.

ye thats another problem, my computer was a prebuilt one, Ive just changed practically everything except the motheroboard, so cant monitor temps or overclock.

  2. Maximum advised operating temps for that CPU are 55~68C (AMD 5600+) and if you are running it at stock, then it's too high. I had one of those and it never hit 50, even under full load. Normally sat around 25~30 and got to 40 sometimes. So some things to look at?

    • Where are you getting the temps from? Have you checked the BIOS idle temps?
    • I would reseat the CPU and apply a good thermal paste like Arctic Silver 5
    • What are your room temps?

There really is no reason why they should be so high with that set-up, so it should be that either your readings are wrong with whatever you are using to monitor the temps or it's not seated correctly with correctly applied TIM

You could try a Freezer Pro 7, very affordable and good for that CPU

Thanks for the reply, and yes its at stock

The temps are from core temp

the room temp is 20 C

and i get different temps depending what software i use.

is it possible to reseat the heatsink without reapplying paste?

  3. Well ,my pc is in sig, and right now, its sitting at 52-54 C and load is has been 80+ but normally high 70's.

I found online the max mine should be is 65C.

My case has a 120mm intake at the front, and 80 mm intake on the side, and 92mm exhaust and a 140mm exhaust on power supply.

yes the cpu fan is mounted coorectly, and its the stock one.

Do i need a new cooler or what do you suggest?

    thanks

  4. Download and run WhoCrashed and post the log. I assume you have already done the basics (test ram, update drivers, chkdsk, etc).

Thanks, i have done the basics apart from chkdisk- dont know what that is sorry!

And thanks for the software, here is what it said

  6. I'm inclined to say that the wireless card has something to do with it, you won't get as good of speeds on wireless as wired. It could also be how far away from the server you are physically located.

Thanks, but i dont have a wirelss card its a usb adaptor G. And i normally get vg ping on the server (50-100) its in london

Can i get a gaming USB adaptor for pc? ive only ever seen them for xboxs

  7. try going downstairs and use an direct line from your PC to your router (if you can) and see if that helps at all. Also what kind of router do you have?

Thanks for fast reply, i have a bt homehub, and i just went downstairs and did a pingtest on that machine and got similar results apart from less packet loss downstairs

  8. I am having a strange issue with crysis and crysis warhead and want to see what you guys think. The issue is when you launch the game and it goes into the menu, all the selections are super slow......like its intermittent. When I am finally able to select a game, it runs like a dream. Another thing is if the game launches in a windowed mode....the menus and selection is fine. I tried to reinstall the game with updates, uninstall all the nvidia drivers with driver sweeper, reinstall different drivers, etc. Other games run perfect and the computer is a super clean install. I am not sure what is causing this. It has worked fine before on this machine. The only thing I do is update nvidia drivers when they are available. Any ideas? Thanks.

Well for the windowed problem try alt and enter when the game starts in a window, worked for me anyway.

  9. Well one time i zoomed into an email to make it bigger then when i was done i zoomed back out using ctrl and 0. Now whenever i go onto that email account in norton, it defaults at the closest zoom i once used and i have to use crtl and 0 to get it back to 'normal'.

Why is this and how do i fix it?

    Thanks
