    Strange pop-up

I have no clue... that's my problem. Well, not really problem, it's just a little annoying and I'd like to figure out where it's coming from.

    Powerline Ethernet

I've done the powerline thing for a customer that couldn't get wires through the condo where they live very easily (3 floors) using this linksys setup: http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/products/PLTE200 http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/products/PLTS200 It's not as cheap as wireless and other people can knock it all they want, but the setup I did is working great. I will agree with others though, it's not any faster than wireless, in the situation where I set it up it IS more reliable though.

    Need any car guys help

I've seen some timing chains go bad and literally trash the engine. My parents had a rod start knocking a week after a timing chain was replaced on a 3.8 v6, they ended up putting almost $5000 in a new engine. Then I've seen some, like a 2.2 4banger in a cavalier go out and be replaced and the car is still running fine. Not really worth taking the chance if you ask me. I'd park it until it gets fixed.
  5. The way I understood it, they had to be registered in the owners name for a year, insured for a year and you couldn't just haul them in, you had to be able to drive them. That last one there makes some of these cars obviously worth more than the $3500 - $4500 the people got for them.
  6. Found it kind of supprising that people would get rid of all of those cars that are potentialy worth more than a measly $4500, in this type of program. Seems to me like those people really didn't have a need for the program because they apparently had more money than they knew what to do with to just give up some of those cars for that little bit of money they got for them.
  7. Power ISO works great for me in Vista 32 and 64 bit.

    antivirus which one to install

Norton isn't bad, I use it on 3 out of 6 of the computers in the house. It is just a system hog. I tried it on my netbook and it didn't boot up very quick after it was installed so I went back to AVG 8.5, that's what I use on the other 3...

    AHCI to IDE

If they are, try right clicking on "my computer', goto manage, then disk management... you might have to asign them a drive letter.

    [WTB]Samsung sp1604n

Nobody here has one of these laying around in a pile of crap they don't use anymore? Maybe even the 120 gig. version of it?

    [WTB]Samsung sp1604n

I'm looking for a donor drive to try to save some pics off of a dead drive for a customer. The drive I need is a Samsung sp1604n. If anyone has one laying around I'd really appreciated it.

Yeah, there's 2 of them on there right now for $100... He can't really do that right now, I was trying to find a used one for him since it's just going to be taken apart.

    Any old farts out there?

Yeah, had one of those in the early 80's then the mid 80's got one of the 7800's. I actually still have both of them and over 50 games at mom and dad's somewhere...

    Buying a new laptop

For further argument on dell laptops there is the one my mom just got an Insperon 1545 off dell.com. It cost her a bit over $1,000 with some bells and whistles but here not but a week later I find a toshiba laptop with superior specs for a little over $700. She also having problems with the built in wireless card which for some reason keeps dropping the Access point which is no farther than 10 feet from her.. No other laptop is dropping it either so I am to suspect the card is defective. If you do want a dell I would shy away from ordering off dell.com if any warrenty issues arise as you will have to send you laptop off some where. Me I recently had the hard drive in my laptop start to die so I went over to BestBuy and they guy replaced it right there in front of me and even handed me back the old dieing HardDrive. Not trying to jack this thread or anything but I just recently had to have Dell send me a new wireless card for my wife's studio xps... it was dropping connection also. They overnighted it to me with a return lable(this thing is still under warrenty) and it has worked fine ever since.

    Piratebay taken down!

I don't really know what to think but I do know it's still there... If it really does go down though, people will just find somewhere else to go.

    Need to clone hard drives

Acronis True Image has worked great for me several times.
  19. Clear is really overrated. I have an acrylic mid-tower and I'll never have another. The wire management sucks and it's design makes it kind of hard to work on and the dust and hairballs if you have any pets running around is just a total nightmare.

    46" to 50" LCD TV

+1 for Vizio. I've had one of thier 42" plasmas for about a year now and love it. They're pretty reasonably priced too.

Asus eee 901 cant get into windows XP! virus??

You could just change out the memory if you have any laying around somewhere or just say screw it and find a USB CDROM and do a format and reload.

    My new uber big harddrive

That Packard Bell I had came with a 40 meg drive, a normal 3.5 one... I swapped it out for that monster when I ran out of room.

    My new uber big harddrive

I just wish I could remember the exact model of it. Unfortunately that's not my drive, I think mine got thrown out a few years ago while it was still over at my parents house. I had it in an old Packard Bell 386. It was loud and quite heavy.

    My new uber big harddrive

Oh yeah, look how big mine is! Yes, that drive is 2 full 5.25" bays and it's so awesome it holds 120 megs.
