  1. Hello,

    Sometimes the newer versions do not work on older motherboards.

    Try version 1.7.

    http://www.memtest.org/download/1.70/memtest86+-1.70.iso.zip

    Also can you expand on your specifications?

    :: CPU = P4, 3Ghz, HT, socket 478 or 775?

    :: Power supply, 250W or 450W

    Thanks....

    CPU= 2.6GHZ P4 (northwood), socket 478 with and Rocketfish - 700-Watt ATX Power Supply...

    then copy and paste the bios and the bios flashing utility to the usb, boot, enter in the proper commands to flash

    this is a risky operation, only do it if u feel like u must, do some more reading on it, as it can be easy to kill ur motherboard.

    not to sound like a noob, but I DL the program, format the stick, but I don't know how to use the bios flashing utility... I read the 'read me" doc and I have no idea on how to do it.... :( Can you please help me???

  3. Hey guys!

    I ran MemTest86 on my current rig and the program keeps freezing in the first 13-15 seconds into the test.... Does any one know why?

    I have an intel pentium 4 (midway) mobo with:

    1 x PNY Optima 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200)

    and

    1 x CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200).

    I ran the same program on my laptop and everything went well....

    please help...

  4. Hey guys!

    What's the difference between DDR2 1600 and DDR3 1066? I'm building a new rig and I'm uncertain on what MOBO to buy... (its for gaming)

    Thanks

    Sorry... Here's what I'm looking at with an Intel E8500.... (Yes, I plan to overclock...)

    Mobo = GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ->$120 ($105 AMR)

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128359

    Ram =OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820227289 ->$65 ($35 AMR)

    Total = $185 ($140 AMR)

    Or

    Mobo = GIGABYTE GA-EP45T-UD3LR LGA 775 Intel P45 ->$120

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128371

    Ram = G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231190 ->$87

    Total $207

    Is it worth spending an extra $67??
