  1. Did I read that right ? Are black edition processors being shipped with HSFs now? Because all previous black edition models have not had a heatsink or fan included.
  2. The Sunbeam temps seem so high... I'm idling at 31/26c right and couldn't be happier.
  3. Just disable sleep. Whenever my computer goes to sleep, it won't wake back up, so I've learned to deal with by just disabling sleep. If it is really annoying you then, yes, I suspect the motherboard is your problem. Perhaps updating your BIOS would be an option. You might also try a reformat of your HDD and a Windows reinstall.
  4. Yeah I always find it amusing when people are building a system with maybe an E8600 and a GTX260 and then they'll go and buy a 700/800w PSU and ask if it's enough or if they should upgrade
  5. I see no way for an AMD bracket to be functional as the only reason Intel brackets work is because you screw them on through the board which I know is impossible with current AM2 sockets and most likely all other AMD sockets without unscrewing some important stuff first.
  6. It appears your processor is only running at about 1.7ghz, and your is CPU 2.0 ghz at stock. Are you sure you didn't at some time bump your FSB down or something of like because your CPU is actually underclocked at the moment.
  7. I've played it on XBox360 and it is very nice. Good visuals and unique gameplay for sure.
  8. UVnc as well as just about any other flavor of VNC work just fine. LogMeIn is also a viable option.
  9. Best for free: Avast and AVG Paid: I have heard nothing but love for NOD32 from people who have used it.

By the way I believe files that have the .tgz extensions are referred to as tarballs, just thought I'd point that out :thumbs-up:
  11. I would say that it would certainly require a lot more research on that person's part if they are relatively uneducated about software in general (and Squinzianera is probably not very well-informed about the ins and outs of operating systems) but it is possible and not overly hard in most cases. However, Final Cut is definitely not the last word in video editing and I'm sure there are other good video editing programs out there (Camtasia, while being ~$100 more expensive than Final Cut Express, comes to mind).
  12. Yeah it's a definite possibility that the BIOS are set to initialize the onboard video and not the Video Card. That be easily changed of course.
  13. I don't know if someone else has mentioned this. I only read the first page or so but...it IS possible to run OSX on a PC using a patched version of said OSX. If you still want to use Finalcut I suggest checking the following sites out. Beware: It is by no means an easy task to install OSX, it is also technically illegal since Apple only allows OSX to be installed on Apple hardware. Check these sites out for more information and active, helpful communities: http://www.osx86project.org/ http://www.hackint0sh.org/ searching hackintosh on google will also get you a lot of relevant hits. Also, while many longtime OCC member may frown upon the following advice, I just have to let you know that I think the build you plan on buying is overkill if the most intensive thing you will be doing is playing SecondLife and editing 15 minutes worth of video. Just look at the requirements. While getting a core i7 and socket 1366 does keep the system future-proof, I think you would be alright with a Core 2 quad and maybe even a GTX 260 (I've heard that the 280 is just too much money when compared to gain in performance.
  14. Looks much nicer than the original Guardian in my opinion. Overall, NZXT makes some very nice cases, if not a tad on the expensive side, but I'd say it's worth it.
  15. Intel is going to eat him alive. This ought to be good.
  16. In regards to your XP guide, don't you need to make the Workgroups the same? You might want to stress that as "anything u want" leaves it pretty open to mistakes.
  17. I know several others have posted about SCII, but I also wanted to point out that the beta will most likely be released early 2009, with Wings of Liberty coming (hopefully) soon after.
  18. If you spent hours just to get a result like that, maybe you should consider a new case with better cable management. That looks downright ugly. I suggest some electrical tape (or mounts for the ties) and some zipties. Ziptie groups of cables that are close together then mount or tape them to the bottom, back, or top of your case. EDIT: As an example, tape that wire coming form your rear fan to the back and bottom of your case to get it out of site.
  19. He means where do you want him to put it. From the sound of it he has nowhere to hide it. Btw, what do you think of the CM690, abid? I'm considering getting one. Any glaring flaws that pop into your head?
  20. While you could do this it would be easier to just go into the advanced startup options menu (press F8 repeatedly) and select the option there.
  21. I have seen a very technical post on some other forum stating that the pencil mod can be quite dangerous and that VDroop is a safety feature that should not be tampered with, I'll see if I can find it... edit: Alas! Google for President http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/intel...;i=3184&p=5
  22. I would find using water to be quite intimidating when lapping your CPU, however with your Heatsink I don't see anything wrong with it, tjharlow posted an informative video on lapping your CPU (though it might not be a completely perfect guide, I am quite uninformed in the lapping field) Part 1 Part 2
