  1. OK here is an update on the flow plan. I want to know if I can use a Y splitter instead of a T. Its explained in the picture here, I hope this is explanatory enough to comprehend. I still need to know if my block will be ok with this pump and whether or not highlighters (water soluble) will adversely affect my coolant. Thanks all around. :thumbs-up: EDIT: lmao just found the MSDS sheet for the highlighters I want use to dye the coolant in case anyone needs to know the composition and other stuff. I know, I know... such a nerd am I.
  2. meh on the boat one... Here's another my Grandpa sent me several months ago I had to dig out of my e-mail and re-type it: A father asked his 10-year old son if he knew about the birds and the bees. "I don't want to know," the child said, bursting into tears. "Promise me you won't tell me." Confused, the father asked what was wrong. The boy sobbed, "When I was six, I got the 'There's no Easter Bunny' speaach. At seven, I got the 'There's no Tooth Fairy speech. When I was eight, you hit me with the 'There's no Santa' speech. If you're going to tell me that grown-ups don't really get laid, I'll have nothing left to live for."
  3. Yeah... I still picked the who cares option on all three. The rest of my family has been using football lately as an excuse for an extra family get together, which I suppose is because they got tired of never seeing each other except on Christmas. My relatives are really into the whole football thing now, but I don't watch sports myself much. I prefer to watch an occasional hockey game or any of the billiards trick shot competitions, not a bunch of grown men fighting over a ball. As for the commercials, I honestly could care less what they are about. In a way I'm a bit of an every-man, when it comes to consumerism especiallly, and I prefer store brands to name brands, whats comfortable over what's trendy, and generally try as hard as possible to blend in. Might as well add it whilst I'm at it that I don't consume alchohol or date either. My family calls me the hermit.
  4. ummm I just copied it into a new .xcf and pasted it onto 2 transparent layers so I could use both parts separately by selecting it with fuzzy select. I'll have to try what you're talking about if I can figure that all out. You see, I'm quite the amateur at this. Anyways here are some more I cooked up or rather different color variations of a new wallpaper. OCC theme colors: Fi-ah! Green Grape Original Fractal Plain
  5. lmao @ both Here's one my Grandpa sent me a week ago: A man walks into a restaurant with a full-grown ostrich behind him. The waitress asks them for their orders. The man says, "A hamburger, fries and a coke," and turns to the ostrich, "What's yours?" "I'll have the same," says the ostrich. A short time later the waitress returns with the order "That will be $9.40 please," and the man reaches into his pocket and pulls out the exact change for payment. The next day, the man and the ostrich come again and the man says, "A hamburger, fries and a coke." The ostrich says, "I'll have the same." Again the man reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change. This becomes routine until the two enter again. "The usual?" asks the waitress. "No, this is Friday night, so I will have a steak, baked potato and a salad," says the man. "Same," says the ostrich. Shortly the waitress brings the order and says, "That will be $32.62." Once again the man pulls the exact change out of his pocket and places it on the table. The waitress cannot hold back her curiosity any longer. "Excuse me, sir. How do you manage to always come up with the exact change in your pocket every time?" "Well," says the man, "several years ago I was cleaning the attic and found an old lamp. When I rubbed it, a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and the right amount of money would always be there." "That's brilliant!" says the waitress. "Most people would ask for a million dollars or something, but you'll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live!" "That's right. Whether it's a gallon of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there," says the man. The waitress asks, "What's with the ostrich?" The man sighs, pauses and answers, "My second wish was for a tall chick with a big butt and long legs who agrees with everything I say."
  6. Thanks for the clarification. I hope someone enjoys and cherishes what I did besides me. This forum is so great I thought it would be nice to start giving a little more than random advice on what I think is a good component etc. I'm working on a second one with a fractal and I'll add it to this post when I finish. Lets say that it will have some appeal with the ATI crowd (even though I'm in the green camp).
  7. Good work showing up in the submission thread so far. I especially like Jammin's second submission. It has a real clean look with an upbeat feel and the design doesn't clutter or detract from the purpose. Great job guys I'm glad I no longer stand a chance at winning this and I look forward to seeing which of you real artists wins. :thumbs-up:

meh just get a cheepy like me http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=TA...ALK&cat=SPK it works just fine as far as I can tell, 'cept it looks silly . btw... Hey Krow? Do I sound ok on this mic? I'm not really sure coz I havn't recorded anything yet but so far I have had zero issues and the price was right. B:)
  10. oops... maybe I should take it down till I get approval then. At any rate I got the resolution problem fixed (photoBucket nub here).Who should I ask for approval anyway? I'm sure I never read this in the rules, but it makes sense now that I think about it. Of course when I posted this I wasn't thinking...
  11. Just something I thought I'd put together for myself and it turned out so well I thought I should share it. It took about 15 mins to make the fractal pattern and re-color it using ChaosPro and a few more to layer it up and add the OCC logo in Gimp. Enjoy! Edit: Bosco approved yay! Thanks Dave! :thumbs-up:
  12. Good to see you back Queenz! And um oh deer... that left a mark.

Hence why I only use analog mics! They don't fail until they get unplugged or Vista inadvertently discards my sound driver. <_<
  14. Yeah I read this great article that says I want my pump to give more head than flow. That sounded bad, but whatever. I am going to use a biocide in my distilled water, I just don't know if coloring the water with highlighters is gonna affect it adversely if at all. I really like the look of those tubes and they would look awesome with my fans (I'm kinda doing an all orange and white case if you can't tell) and I already changed out my power lights for amber ones.
  15. OK Well I plan to use this thread as my progress and build post too, because it never hurts to let others see you fail. Here is an update on the battle plan thus far. Parts: CPU block- D-Tek Fuzion V2 GPU block- D-Tek Fuzion GFX 2 GPU chip sinks- Custom 9800GTX Cooling Kit by iandh - Silver Pump- Laing D5 Vario Radiator- Swiftech MCR-220 (on its way) and after reading numerous threads on this subject I have decided that zip ties will work just fine for hose clamps. Now for the questions: Is the order really all that critical as long as I keep the cpu before the gpu? (I'm a bit visual so it might take a crude word diagram such as t-line>pump-out>rad>etc.) I noticed the block I chose is an impingement type. Will this pump be sufficient for me to get full results out of it? Or should I search for a non-impingemnet style? Will dying the coolant cause problems? (I want to use I technique I saw elsewhere where a guy used orange highlighters here's that link) Progress: ordered the radiator! I'll keep you guys posted on the progress and thanks again for all the help.
  16. Yeah that was fun, too bad I had to go cook dinner though.... and man my ping was sucking. I need to hurry up and get my iMac running a L4D dedicated.
  17. LMAO-ZOMG! I wanna know how they did that so I can do it! I can see it now... and about 5 years in the pokey too. never mind I won't try it.
  18. Wow! Thanks guys I'll ditch the NB and redraw my sketch. Now I'm trying to get this straight I should either have it go from pump>cpu>gpu>rad or pump>rad>cpu>gpu??? And if I'm prolly not going to oc my gpu since its almost unstable at stock settings right now (hoping for an rma). I just want to be able to keep this thing cool running 4GHz daily in the summer-time for gaming and such. I'm really surprised that I picked out ok components too, too bad most the places that cary the good stuff at good prices are always out of stock. Well I'll keep working on this, since there really is no hurry, when I can and maybe I'll pick up my radiator this week so I can make my custom shroud and show it off to you guys. ^_^ EDIT:I think that link just answered 90% of the rest of my questions! Thanks soooo much Voltes_5
  19. Now that I have finally decided to water cool my computer, done a little bit of research (thanks Radodrill! ) and done some shopping around I think I need to open this up for a double check. I'm pretty sure the components I have chosen for this project are good, a few are recommendations from Radodrill's post, and the rest are me just poking around for the best price on a non-specific product. I also need some help with the layout and perhaps a link to a good guide on setting this kind of stuff up, since all I seem to be able to find via google is broken links and "How to hook up this Uber 1337 external WC Kit thats totally ineffective" type articles <_< . Lets see... first off is the list of parts: CPU block- D-Tek Fuzion V2 NB block- Danger Den Maze 4 GPU block- D-Tek Fuzion GFX 2 GPU chip sinks- Custom 9800GTX Cooling Kit by iandh - Silver Pump- D-Tek db-1 (read that this was a good pump a couple of places) Radiator- Swiftech MCR-220 Fans- Xigmatec XLF-F1253 (I already have these) Shroud and case mount- Custom Designed (and milled by me, yet I still need to do this) out of a piece of plastic that was left over from a bathroom stall door. I plan on using plastic hose clamps and barbs (no corrosion or accidental shorting-outs), Tubing will be 1/2" Tygon and distilled water with biocide (as per Radodrill) for coolant. Now comes the time for everyone to laugh at my lame excuse for a cooling schematic: Yeah I know... paint. *sigh* I just wonder if this looks right, my only experience with liquid cooling is on cars, and that being the repair of said systems not the design. So any suggestions/comments are greatly appreciated and thanks is given in advance for any advice given. :thumbs-up:
  20. Here is submission #2 which was also done in GIMP, but only took about 1.5 hours this time. I went for a 300x30px size this time since everybody has been griping about 400x40 being to big. I like a decent size user bar myself but wtvr...
  21. YAYZ it came today! Its so cool and small. Literally half the size of my thumb and it will be more than a replacement for my lost 2GB drive. Thanks again OCC and Corsair!
