  1. Wow onions, that's nuts. I'm getting that same number but only in Megabits... between 25-30Mbps down to be exact.
  2. Belated Merry Christmas! Have a safe but awesome time over the holidays!
  3. Okay, finally made a bigger purchase. I got the WD My Cloud Mirror 2-bay NAS for my folks to backup their stuff. Works out of the box and no need to worry about much setup for basic backup and online access. Good enough for me:)
  4. Yeah, there aren't too many peripherals with type C yet I believe. It's mostly used for smartphones or tablets. Just be careful with the whole USB Type C cable fisaco: https://plus.google.com/+BensonLeung/posts/LH4PPgVrKVN
  5. I bought a generic USB 3.0 PCI-E adapter card to add USB 3.0 ports to an old PC. I can't believe this is my first PC-related purchase in a couple years, and what a lame one at that.
  6. Those are the Chinese market version of the phone being converted from ColorOS to CM11S and sold as is. Notice the radio bands supported are different from the international model. I've heard inconsistent reports of people flashing the radio from the international version to get support for the international bands, so buyers beware. I joined the OnePlus forums back in April, and I've had the phone for about 1.5 months now. If you are an early member but still haven't received an invite, be sure to fill out your OnePlus profile with a valid address. Not sure if it's concidence or not but a few friends and I all got invites shortly after we provided a full address in our profile. So maybe they check to make sure you have a valid address before an invite is sent. If I get more sharable invites I'll post back here, I've already given my existing ones away. I heard they are moving away from the invitation model comes October anyway though, so maybe their production is finally up to capacity.
  7. Happy new year everyone. 2013 was okay. Can always aim for more though. To 2014!
  8. Woohoo! Sweet! Congrats to all the winners and thanks again Bosco and OCC!
  9. Had been so busy past couple years with the kids. Maybe this will give me an excuse to spend some time on the old machine. Good luck everyone!
  10. I have all Linksys routers, but with 3rd party firmware DD-WRT or Tomato. So I don't care much for Linksys themselves, as long as I can find a good router with DD-WRT or Tomato support. I have heard that the Asus ones are good like what most folks said, so looks like I'll be moving to Asus too.
  11. Just tried it too. Works great. I wonder if I can somehow also add it to flipboard...
  12. IVIYTH0S, I would have picked the S3 if I could've gotten it for the same price off contract. Right now I am on a great mobile plan but it's not offered anymore so I can't sign a new contract on it, so to me at least the N4 is quite attractive at a fraction of the price of the S3. But yeah, if I already have an S3, I don't think I would bother with the N4.
  13. So did anyone end up getting this phone? I got mine now and so far I'm pretty happy with it. Like aaron6581230 suspected, I have no problems getting this guy through the day at all. So far so good
  14. I hope that is just a temporary requirement. Technically, it doesn't make sense for them to limit it just to the 650 or higher?
  15. Happy holidays guys and gals! Congrats to all the winners!
  16. Thanks for the tips. As far as I know there's only one version of the Nexus 4? So I *should* be okay, and yes I had placed a pre-order. It's just the grueling wait now...
  17. Thanks all! I'll definitely look into the custom ROM route. It sounds like you guys all recommend Liquid Smooth? I thought CM was the big one.
  18. Thanks for the reply. I'm hoping I can leave push email and messaging on to last through the day. Even on my wife's Nokia Lumia 710 (known to have bad batter life), with email push enabled for Gmail+Outlook+Yahoo, Whatsapp and WeChat running in the background, and 1-2 hours of on-screen time with maybe 1 hr of internet browsing on 3G, I can easily last through the day until I go to bed and recharge the phone. That's my normal usage so I'm hoping the same usage gets me through the day on the Nexus 4.
  19. I don't see any mentions of this phone. Did anyone get one and have first impressions to share? I need a new phone as my wife's just died and I gave her my old Lumia. I'm using a backup dumbphone at the moment. The price point of the off-contract Nexus 4 is really attractive. The only worry I have is the battery life. Some reviews say it's good (lasting more than a day), some say it's bad (only 10-15 hours per charge), so I've no idea what to expect. I just want the phone to not need a charge from roughly 6am to 11pm at night. If anyone has first hand experience, please do share and let me know. Reviews I've checked include: http://www.anandtech.com/show/6440/google-nexus-4-review http://www.androidcentral.com/lg-nexus-4-review http://www.gsmarena.com/google_nexus_4-review-860.php http://mobilesyrup.com/2012/11/19/google-nexus-4-review-video/
  20. Yeah, and white is definitely not as easy on the eyes. But otherwise I don't mind the changes (temporary or not) too much.
  21. Why is that? Do LG phones have LG proprietary media software, or a special audio processing chipset? I do in fact use my phone to play MP3s quite a bit. So if it does have an advantage as a PMP, it's certainly bonus points for the Nexus 4 for me come later this year.
