  1. not that i know anything about anything but it's been my experience that gaming on the 38" sony bravia is alot more intense than on any monitor i've ever used.....there's just something about being immersed in giant sized crysis or warhead with full stereophonic theatre surround that creates a sorta surreal life like effect....(my neighbors would rather i turned it down)....i can't go back,... there is no going back once you've had the experience....high def def.......i think the sony cycles at 85 htz and 1920x1080 maxed out....it's a slight strain to read email on it, and i could change that by adjusting the aspect ratio, but WTH....that's not where it's at.....I game....!! ...and i'm fortunate enough to have the vid power to drive the big screen full on so i do......right now i'm trying out bioshock and it's super slick on the HD....think about it ....it's quite an experience.....!!cya.......cj

  2. Ok thanks guys

my 3870x2's have been fantastic....supreme in fact...!!......the truth is I'd love to keep them but the've been out gunned and are obsolete....they will fall by the wayside in the not to distant future and be replaced by the saphire 4850x2's i'm gonna win in the contest.....until then i'll game on in synchronized perfection......good luck with your choice......!

  3. with the right ram and a e8400 all of the Biostar P45 board will hit 600fsb

with the e8500/e8600 they will hit 700fsb with the right ram and settings...

I have a I45 board and a E8400 and ddr-1066 ram and pluged in the settings polygon had and booted 600fsb from a cmos clear....it's that easy...

2 things doc....this machine boots slow and i believe it's because of the old reused seagate 160 ide drive causing a bottleneck in the loading up process....would you concur...??

i went ahead and ordered yet another of the seagate 640 sata drives for it as a relacement (the old one thinks it's still in a compaq proprietary anyway)....and secondly since i'm new to this bios scheme would you consider sharing some specific steps for bringing up this fsb...??....i'll do my part and read the booklet but from what i've seen so far this bios utilizes some presets like V-6, V-8, V-12.....i guess i'm just used to the simplicity of asus/american megatrends bios...thank you.....!

  5. lol man I didn't know biostar board could be that good last time I checked they where the cheapo brand

Never really done research on those boards before

i feel ya.....i'm a bioboard virgin.....yuk.....the darn thing seems to be kicking it out tho....i went ahead and used 4g corsair xms 800,,,,2x2...and the saphire 3850.......i have a linksys wireless card i'll stick in after while and that should do it.....it'll all be christmas ready by monday morning......!!

  6. Here is a forum on the Biostar boards that has a lot of info on the TP-45.

this is good info ....thank you very much......BTW the thing is up and running and windows is repairing the previous install as we speak...........after windows finishes i'll load up alll the drivers and add ons/updates and then...................i'll try out some over clocks.....

i really appreciate all the feedback ......

someday i 'd like to find out how yous guys are adding those hypertext links to your chat....!!......cya............cj

  7. I have that board and it's a beast of a board for overclocking. It can reach high FSB's, but you would need some quality ram if you want to achieve a high FSB (somewhere in the 500-560 range). The only problem i have with the board is that voltages increments are too high they go by 0.5V which is tough to work with when you have a 45nm.

But a good overclock can be done. I have heard that its really picky with the ram, i have only tried one set of 2X1Gb g.skill but no problems with it.

i have 3 gig of corsair 800 xms....should do the trick....if that doesn't cut it i have boucous ocz 1066 platinum at my disposal.....either way i have the hardware to crank it up a few notches i think.......thanx for your input....!!

  8. Is this the mobo you have? IKf yest you will be very happy! These things can bang out very high FSB.

oops, i made a mistake, it's the TP45HP but very similar...!!........i'm probably gonna wish i'd kept this for something more game oriented but o well....any advice on how to get strong reliable oc's on it.....i do want this rig to be dependable most of all,,, .... but i don't see why it can't be fast too..!!

  9. I recently aquired a biostar t series tp 45 mobo that i was thinking of using in a christmas build for a family member. i have lots o corsair ddr2 800 for it and a lightly used e8500 to run it. this build will mostly be used for office work and email checking and the like so i've picked up a reasonable saphire 3850 just for kicks. i have an older functional seagate ide 160hd and an ide wd160 hd for back-up slave.....i'm gonna use xp 32 bit basic and let the recipient figure out the rest....ok so the problem is that the more i read on this board the more i'm starting to realize this could be a real screamin machine......i wasn't planning to oc the thing but i'm starting to get the itch to, and it isn't even built yet.....i'm hoping for some suggestions on reasonable oc's for this board/system from the folks that have used it and know how to tweak it properly...this is my first biostar and i'm unfamiliar with the bios and set-up......thanks..........cj

  10. well ive already left the cmos out for and hour and a half. lil overkill lol. Im gonna try to get a different PSU tomorrow ive been just so busy lately. First im gonna try pulling everything out and just leave mobo power and cpu power cords in and see if i cna get a post, wish me luck!

yo bra...check it out...unplug all fans and accessories from the mother board power headers EXCEPT the cpu fan,,,,, remove the cmos battery from the mother board for at least 15 seconds.....replace it and then reboot.....go to bios and reset to default settings....you may have to flash your bios probably not....don't replug any other electrical devices directly into the board headers....hope this gets ya back up....good luck....

  11. me too...!! i was just thinkin' somebody oughta juice up an e8600 to see what it'll do and whatdaya know....here it is....!!....awsome....

is this oc on air or water cooling....?

i saw the 8600's on newegg for $274.00 and that didn't seem to awful to me...5.1 is crazy man....!!

and how much difference did the pc2 9600 make...??... i'm seriosly considering a major memory upgrade for this one to ddr 1200 since it's always oc'd anyway....1066 gets the job done and works beyond excellent for crysis but i'm thinking i could max out with 1200....!!

  12. I've recently been toying with the idea of buying the new bigger faster cousin to my two drives but i was wondering if it would be a worthwhile upgrade over what I have because the VelociRaptors are really expensive. Or as an alternative, if I just bought one for now would it be as fast as the two Raptors I have raided now (that we way I can still maintain the same storage space)...then when the Veloci's get cheaper down the road I can buy the second.

I just wanted anyone's opinion on what I should do. Thanks!

it's not a dumb question !...i really want either a fast raid set or a fast single to improve this machine's windows experience rating..... the only thing keeping me at 5.7 WER is HD data transactions...i could be at 5.8-5.9 easily if i had a faster HD...so it comes down to 10,000 rpm raid vs 10,000 rpm single and the pro's and cons of either choice boggle my mind too...!!...maybe someone will tell us what's up...!!

  13. Hello,

That is correct, you cannot claim 2 rebates for 2 identical part numbers. You are only allowed 1 rebate per household. The letter is denying 1 of the 2 rebates, the other is in process.

    Thank you.

thank you ryder...for the record the product works beautifully....my plat 1066 made a big difference in bandwidth and improved my oc's ...i've even considered upgrading to pc2/9600 to max it out but havn't made a decision yet... i'm content in that regard...!

Not sure why you are posting this here. As far as I know OCZ isn't even aware this section from DIY-Street is here at OCC. Would be better off posting at the OCZ forum. If it is a mix up they will get it straightened out.

    OCZ Rebate Issues

I'll also let them know this section is here.

ok praz ...sorry ...i'm just kinda irritated by the whole situation and had a vague feeling someone from ocz monitored and straightened out this stuff,,,and it felt good to vent....thanx for the pull-up....won't happen again....!!

  15. what about services andy...?? ...i bought 8g of platinum 1066 at newegg with a manufacturer mail-in rebate $10.00 per package...i did all the leg work and sent it in only to be told via standard form letter that it was denied because ..."there is already a rebate registered for this houshold"...(what a crock)...!!...do you guys play games or what...?? it might be just a lousy $20 bucks to you people but it made a difference to me.... and i'll remember that when i'm ready to upgrade again...seems like if you're not honoring your announced rebates then you're using fraudulent practices to increase sales and bottom line....just keep the money andy you apparently need it more than i do...!!

  17. but the problem is that i live in eastern europe, not usa. that really pisses my off, newegg puts really great price on everything, but they deliver only to states. that sucks.

ah shucks....oh well .... hopefully you'l find an alternative ... personally my opinion is go big and go new if possible... x48 is the wave of the future and if i read right it won't too long before ddr3 prices start to drop... take care...!!

  18. just saw MSI P45 ZILENT, it includes ZALMAN CPU cooler, but which? i think it's CNPS 9700 LED, if i'm wrong correct my mistake.

i just saw the rampage formula in "open box" (no accessories) for $199.99 at newegg and it sounds like you have enough parts to make up the difference .... when i had the q6600 from my back-up rig on this board it ran and gamed at 3.00g basically on auto.....but after some tweaking it would game at 3.4 solid but warm...60c+ i had to back it down some for my own peace of mind...

  19. looking for a new mobo and will overclock intel e8400, i was thinking about asus rampage, but which chipset is better for overclocking P45 or x48, i have to choose from Asus Rampage, P5Q DELUXE, Gigabyte EP45-DS5, GA-EP45-DQ6 P45, MSI P45 Platinum and X48C PLATINUM. clear cmos button on the back panel would be a big plus. so which of these will get me higher overclock?

the rampage extreme allows for ddr3 and crossfire x and the rampage formula is straight ddr2 up to 9600 in oc modes. i'm so glad i spent the extra money on the rampage formula but i have my sights on the extreme version...by early next year this rig will be full blown extreme...experience has taught me not to settle for second best...go all the way on first time out and you'll thank yourself later on...!!
