  1. I am thinking of getting a different 120 mm fan to replace to stock cooling fan. I realize that I will need one with a high pressure to CFM air ratio for better cooling. I am considering this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811999344 . Anyone ever tried a different fan?
  2. Before I went to my core2duo machine my AMD 4000+ was overclocked to 3.1 Ghz. Yes I took my time getting it to that point but that is all in the fun of overclocking. If he is overclocking his cpu in a day without testing any type of stability or temps then he is going way to fast. Prime95 is your friend.
  3. I tried sticking any thing between them because Im really not sure what I could use. I did notice when using small FFT in Orthos I am getting 59C but when I use blend I get between 47C and 51C. Im not sure what most people use when they post there temps.
  4. Forgot to mention that both cores are running at the same temp.
  5. I am overclocking my setup in my sig to 3.6 Ghz. I have a tuniq tower installed. My multi is 9 and fsb is 1600. My cpu voltage is set to 1.475. Beside the cpu voltage in the bios it says current voltage and it says 1.44 so I think the board is undervolting the CPU a little. When running Orthos coretemp is showing 59C and 60C degrees. In the past I had the tuniq on another board that died and I peeled the tape off of the bracket and stuck it to the back of the board. When the board died I had to cut some of the material off the bracket to get it off of the board. Im thinking this could be causing uneven pressure on the cpu. Any thoughts on my temps?
  6. I have two 8800GT graphic cards. I had no idea that it would perform that much better on a 680i board. The reviews that I read about 8x8 versus 16x16 had very marginal differences with the 8x8 winning some of them.
  7. Anyone know much about this board. I can't much about it but it looks like a solid performer. I will be using it in an SLI setup. I did have MSI P6N-FI and it died recently. I also cant seem to find the card on the board that you turn around for SLI based on the pics from newegg. So Im wondering how you set it up with SLI. Newegg doesn't have a big selection right now with SLI boards.
  8. Thanks guys that helped a lot. I just put together my new system tonight with two 8800GT in SLI. After cranking up the fan speed in nTune both of my cards are idleing below 50 C. I ran my first benchmark test with 3DMark03 and scored 59624. Now for some more tweaking.
  9. I down loaded the latest drivers. 169.02 and I do not see where to see the temps at all. I have vista. Almost embarassed to ask this.
  10. I just got my two new 8800GT cards and will be building my new system in the next week or two. I see a lot of debate around here with upgrading to Vista for DX10. I am not new to Vista. I use it at work and I used it on my media center pc. The pc I am building now will be a gaming pc and I dont want to be dissappointed with DX10 because of slow performance. So should I really install Vista or am I better with just sticking to XP? Thanks
  11. Does any one know if the tuniq tower will fit on this board? I am mostly concerned about the it interfereing with the stock north bridge heat sink. Thanks
  12. Hey guys, I am building a new pc and I need a little advice. You have always steered me in the right direction and I am hoping you can help me out now. I already have an MSI P6N-SLI mother board with a core 2 duo E6600 (at 3Ghz). I also have 2 GB of Gskill DDR2 memory. I really like the Antec P180 case and plan on ordering one. Newegg just shipped me two EVGA 8800 GT today. I know that several people have posted that its overkill but Ive always wanted to build an SLI system and the price and performance was just right. So I have some great components but I need a really good PSU to make sure that the system is stable. I am also concerned about the way the case is designed. The PSU sits in a seperate compartment and on most power supplies the fan is a 120mm fan on the top. My concern is that the PSU could overheat. So I need some good recommendations for the system I am building. Thanks
  13. My screen resolution on max is 1440 X 900. Thanks for all your replies guys. I haven't been keeping up as much as I'd like to on all of the hardware. If I understand you correctly, the 8800GT should be able to run most games on max settings at my max resolution or at least a really high one.
  14. Kingdingeling pretty much answered my question. I am considering taking my media center a part and using parts of it for a new gaming machine. It has an E6600 overclocked to 3Ghz in it with 2GB of ram. I was thinking of going with an 8800 GT but I am now sure how big of an improvement that will be over what I have now. If I could scrounge up the money I was possibly thinking SLI but it looks like if I want that then I will need a new PSU. Thanks
