  1. maybe the drive just isn't formatted. check in control panel under administrative tools, disk management
  2. ur wife let u spend all that money on computer parts . i had an ex that was mad i built her a 600 buck computer once LOL
  3. pci-e is bidirectional, whereas agp wasn't. http://www.dell.com/content/topics/global....=us&l=en&s=corp
  4. its a 4x card for the 4 port card. that means 2,000MB/s for 4X. 300x4=1200. i don't see that as being saturated . even if you just count one way, which is 1000, thats still 250 per port. hardddrives don't max out the 3.0 spec i believe
  5. don't disable sata controllers. i think it disables both of them . at least thats why i didn't choose disable. i think what u did cofirms i made the right choice i simply moved the cables over from the uli to the silicon image.
  6. my stuttering problems got really worse too. i just put the drives on the silicon image controller. haven't noticed any difference in performance. at least the comp is working like it should now
  7. i give up on the crappy uli controller. it wasn't even letting me boot into windows. which of these is best? http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....tk=&srchInDesc= 2 port sata pci-e 3.0 controller or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16816115029 cheapest 4 port one. i'm getting 2 new harddrives so i'll need 5 sata ports and i don't want to touch the uli one. anyone?
  8. hmmm. try searching on google for the motherboard and model # for your ram. for example, my gskill part # is 2GB F1-4000USU2-2GBHZ PC4000 and when i googled for the board and the ram together i came up with this thread by john mike: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...0209#post490209 who happens to have great settings for the same ram i have and mobo too . my comp is running stable now at 1.4 volts 2600mhz. i ran prime 95 for over 2 hours, prime orthos 95 for over 4 hours and did super pi on both cores no issues. except for that crap uli controller lol. on the silicon image now though. works great. i need a pci-e controller
  9. i tried abit's beta bios (1.0.6.1) i believe, but still no luck
  10. i was having no issues with 1 harddrive and overclocked at 2.6 gigahertz for my opteron 165 with auto ram settings (have 2 x 1 gig gskill uccc). i transfered over about 40 gigs from the laptop i was using while i was upgrading my machine. once i attached my other 4 harddrives to my system the problems began. computer was very unstable. i set the ram timings manually, ran prime95 on both cores for 2 hours and 4 minutes till i was satisfied it was stable, ran superpi twice and it completed on both cores, but once i started a disk intensive program the computer locked up. im getting 5288 errors in my system notices in management console. any fixes? i have the latest july bios. i am not running raid. currently i have 2 x250 gig sata seagates (8meg cache), 1 8 meg 400 gig sata seagate, and 2 400 gig 16meg cache ide seagate drives connected.
