  1. That's the fourth Antec SP-500 I seen failing on this board in the last week. I lost one right before x-mas and since them I've seen three more bite the dust. I've got an RMA from Antec, but no post mortem yet. Was working fine, disconnected computer, added sound card, then dead, standby led only, nothing else but power led on case glowed dimly. SP-500 only has 2.0 amp 5vsb rating, maybe thats the problem. I installed a 450watt non lister and its been running flawlessly for a week. Got new 520watt Corsair today, will install this weekend.
  2. I agree, sounds like a mb issue. I wish with all the DFI connections on the board we could get some answers about these power supply issues. UPS just delivered my new Corsair 520watt. The system has been runing flawlessly for the last week on an unapproved coolmaster 450. The antec sp-500 I took out will boot other systems, just not the DFI board. Swapping the PSU got my LED's to behave normally though. I think you system has other issues. Keep us updated when you RMA your board, maybe you'll get an answer.
  3. The floppy connector and the 4 pin drive connector near it supply additional power to the mb, with a power hungry video card like yours there are necessary. There should be enough connectors on your psu cables. Got to go to work tomorrow, shutting down for the night, Good Luck.
  4. I bought a PSU tester from CompUSA, It tested my power supply as good, but computer wouldn't start, no fans at all, only lower yellow led. Swaped PSU with spare, now works fine. Easiest way to test is swap. Maybe you can borrow a spare from some one. Have you tried the power and reset buttons on the motherboard? Good Luck

  6. two red LED's or two yellow LED's?. does the fan on the CPU run? my Antec SP-500 failed a couple days ago, and there was another post about the same time with a SP-500 failing also.
  7. Glad it's up and running. I ordered a Corsair 520 watt the night mine died. I missed having all the kids beat me up playing Company of Heros online. I'm still running on a COOLER MASTER Real Power RS-450 I had in my inventory. I'm curious what's killing these power supplies. I may call ANTEC tomorrow and see if they have any ideas. Just keep the repaired or replaced one as a spare.
  8. Just went through same senario a couple of days ago with exact same PSU, I shut down computer to install a sound card, then dead except for lower led (standby). Installed spare 450 watt PSU, standby led and DRAM led both lit, computer starts and runs fine. Tested old PSU with CompUSA psu tester, checks out ok and it will run old Intel P3 board (20 pin connector) I tried it on. Emailed Antec, they are issuing an RMA. I am baffled why tester shows ok and why it works on other board. Antec did not give reason but must be aware of concern. Good Luck
  9. I have read the threads relating to power supplies, but I am still confused. My rig had been running problem free since first boot. Last night I decided to try a old Audigy card I had laying around. Unhooked everything, slipped in new card, reconnected, hit power button. Nothing! Checked all. Nothing. Standby power LED on, nothing else. To make a long story short, I installed a spare power supply, Noticed standyby and dram led lit, booted and runs fine.Sounds like a bad psu. I went to CompUsa and bought one of their psu tester. Original psu test ok, hooked up to a old Intel board and cpu (only has 20 pin connector), it boots? Tried again in DFI. Standby led on, no dram led, Won't boot. Put spare back in, all's well again. What's going on with these psu's. What's the connection with the dram led. Any thoughts? Merry Xmas PS : Also noticed with bad power supply that the power led on the front of case was on, but dim. Went off and on as rocker switch on psu was cycled. DRAM led would not ever come on.
