  1. update: OK having better luck now. Windows installed OK on 1 HDD with both sticks of ram again in orange slots using the RAM settings as per the above link. These timmings are actually TIGHTER would you beleive so that really confuses me. But it worked. Don't have time right now to do further testing so will leave it on overnight with [email protected] running and then look at settings up the RAID. Thanks for all yer tips.
  2. Hmmm, has died (BSOD) while installing windows with 2 sticks in the orange slots. I do not beleive it is the PSU or any other incorrect choice in component. Why? looking at this post: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39418 He is using same motherboard, ram, psu, and an opty 170 as opposed to the 165. So will use his ram settings and see if that solves it. If its not that then other than an incorrect bios setting... i got nfi!
  3. Thanks for the prompt reply. I know the PSU isn't ideal but it is the minimum 480W and does have a 24 pin standard connector. It just doesnt support 12V UPS 8 pin connection but manual say thats fine. (used the 4 pin) I have been following the guides. very useful. Will definitely look at those databases. great idea. Update: got windows to install with 1 HDD and 1 stick of RAM. Will try adding other stick and see if thats cool. then if it is try to raid it again.
  4. As per sig. I have opteron 165 and bios dated 11/02/05 Is this OK or do I need newer? Only wondering as have upgraded from abit to dfi and when I have tried to install windows i get BSOD's. want to check the bios is cool before I look at other options.
  5. Thanks guys, I too had this issue and the fix was to turn the cable around the other way. Thought the cable would have been designed to fit only one way though!
