  1. Media Center is on my Asus G2s, Vista Ultimate. If I just go into My Computer, the HDD is there and I can access it and everything. And media center can 'see' it. Also, after a few seconds of pretending to do something, Media center crashes. It says its still running in task manager but its unresponsive.
  2. Anyone? Is it that Media Center doesn't like my My Book being FAT32?
  3. Hi, I have a network set up and I have a WD My Book plugged into the back of my AirPort Extreme. I've got all the computers accessing and talking properly. My problem is, when I start Media centre on my Asus G2S, and go into the setup to ad the folders on the My Book, it gets to the 'click ok to ad' part and starts the little circle mouse icon as if its doing something, but it never actually does anything. It comes up with a window saying, click ok to leave this going in the background and continue using Media Centre. So I do that, but even just leaving it for ages doesn't get anywhere. Any Ideas?
  4. Ok. So I did the case mod. Turned out very nice indeed. The 120mm 'hole' is not quite right over the Heatsink because of the case latch but that doesn't really matter too much. After running Orthos for 30 mins I get a Core #1(hot one) temp of 54C. Pretty dam good improvement over the 63C I was gettin before. I'll update this post with temps after 8 hours. Prolly do it on the weekend.
  5. It has a nice big 120mm exhaust fan at the rear. Also the PSU is sucking air from the inside to the outside. And the 8800GTS fan exhausts outside the case. So airflow out is good. I have no fans blowing air into the case from outside. There is a 120mm front mount but its not in a good spot at all, on the interior 3.5" HDD mounts.. If I was to put a fan there it would contact on the 8800. All my cables are pretty good. One SATA, one IDE(one of the nice ones thats all low profile), all the spare power cables are tucked away in a 5.25" slot. Inside case temp is ok, just I know I can get a much better result with the case mod. And its a very simple mod. I'll just drill small holes in the case, screw a nice lookin grill over it and some gauze to kep te dust out.
  6. Ok. So, finally after ordering, being told there is no stock, being offered other deals, being told there is no stock again on the offers, alot of angry calls and emails, and canceling orders and re ordering else where I finally got my mobo that I needed for: a, my old parts to go on and b, the mounting plate for the Tt Big Typhoon to use. I mounted the BT, what a pain in the butt! Finally got it on there and fired it up, was running very cool under idle so I cranked up Orthos and was pleased to see the temp rose very slowly in the first 5 or so minutes to a temp that it apeared to even out at around 51C which was a good 15C-16C cooler than previous Orthos. Great I thought, I walked off to go get my stuff ready for work and when I came back about 10 mins later to check on it, Core#1 was at 73C!!!! WTF?? So I promptly shut it off. Unfortunately I then had to go to work.. Long time to think about it.. Got home and pulled the BT back off and seen that the AS5 had only spread in one direction from the centre of the Heat Spreader. I added a half grain to the side that needed it and re seated the BT. Booted and once again was running at nice cool temps I was first impressed with. Now the Orthos test again. Ran it and this time sat there with it for a good hour and this time the temps stayed at a more acceptable 63C max. This is a good 6C lower than using the Zalman. So a medium improvement for AU$80. I then wanted to check something (cant recall what) inside my PC so I pulled the side off the case and did what ever it was I wanted to do and when I looked at my screen noticed the temps of my cores had dropped to 53C (Orthos running). Hhmmmm. Needless to say I ordered a cool fan grill and some gauze. Gonna cut a hole on my case right above the BT. Will post again with the results.

  8. All stock I got around 7200 3DMarks 06. Upping the 8800 to 600/1900 I got around 7350 3DMarks 06. Then Upping the CPU to 2500MHz I got around 8600 3DMarks 06. I guess I have a CPU bottle neck:p. Still not complaining at around a 4000 3DMark increase over my Opty 146 and 7900GT. Too bad my CPU core1 gets up to around 68C under Orthos at that clock even on stock volts. I have my Tt Typhoon ready to go on, just waiting for a mounting plate to turn up..
  9. Ok, Thanks Angry, I'll give that a go tonight after work. Looking forward to my 12 hour shift...
  10. Hey, Finally got my 8800GTS. Rivatuner seems the be the OCer of choice? Is there any point to me having nTune on my puter?
  11. Wohoo, Got my new card and whacked it in:) Removed the RAM sinks from the BFG with the gf's hair drier. Cleaned it up all pretty. Now just to send it off and hope for the best. Those sinks were still hard to get off, I had to twist them off. And they are pointy as, so my finger tips are a little tender now.
  12. Yeah, I think 65C would be a good ceiling to work from. Especially for someone like me who has ambient of 25C-35C (Room temp). Thinking about seeing if I can get the Tt to mount on the hooks I found. Cant be bothered waiting on my new mobo that could be more than a week away:p
  13. When I run Coretemp, the Tcase Max and the TDP are greyed out? I got my TT Big Typhoon yesterday, it didnt come with any 'hooks'. Lucky I have another mobo on the way that I plan to put my Opty 146 in and put the Zalmans on. Then I can take the mounting plate from the new mobo and stick it on my current mobo and put the TT on:)
  14. What is the stock Vcore for the 165? Its 1.35V for the 170 and at 1.405V 2600MHz I get Core1:59C Core2:66C under full load (Orthos). Thats with my Zalman. The temp in Everest never gets above 41C though.. So I dunno.. Thats one disappointing thing about my CPU. At 1.35V I can only get to 2500Mhz Guess I got a dud.
  15. Heh, np. Yeah, sure will get back. It should arrive in a couple days. Anyone got any stock cooler temps? I'd be interested in seeing how the stock cooler goes, especially in ambient temps similar to mine -28C to 35C-. Suppose ill try it out myself sometime, I found some hooks that might work:p
