  1. Yes, I know, I perfectly understand that, I just wanted to be clear about the matter: From above => " . . . warranty issue", I've never requested that - And never intended to do so" Sorry if I sounded a bit sarcastic. Max.
  2. Well, I apologize if I didn't explain myself correctly, so just to be clear: 1) I know they are rated a 2-2-2-5. 2) I know that "not running CAS = 2.5 is not a warranty issue", I've never requested that - And never intended to do so. 3) I've never asked for a "significant change in production" (From another post). 4) OCZ product page states: "OCZ Platinum Edition PC-3200 memory is able to reach latencies as low as CL 2-2-2-5." It never says that it's not guaranteed to run at . . . whatever. 5) I was following your suggestion here: http://www.diy-street.com/forum/showpost.p...078&postcount=8 __ where you clearly state: "Everything else is perfect:)". __ and also this: http://www.diy-street.com/forum/showpost.p...460&postcount=8 __ Yes, I know: It doesn't mean it will work for me. 6) Most of the reviews linked at your product page tested this RAM with CAS 2.5 and 3. 7) For what I've found, i'm not the only one having this problem and it is, at least, a two years old issue. If OCZ has nothing to do with this and never could have done nothing about it, again, I apologize. Anyway, for me, topic closed, I simply have no more time to spend on this matter. I need to move on. I'm not trying to overclock, it's just a part of an investigation for a college assignment. Thanks, Max.
  3. Agree BUT it's at least, a two years old problem so they could have instructed some of their forum admins (it just takes a 1min email) to post a sticky thread about this problem or put a warning in their product description page (DFI, OCZ and Patriot, at least one of them!). It's seems to me that they just don't care about it. I know, i know, it's buisness. Yes, I've tried it, and many others too. Well, this is my last chance, I'll try it today because I even tried with a beta BIOS by Oscar Wu that Angry posted with the same config I have in the OCDB. Anyway, just my thougts and thank you for your suggestion and time. Max.
  4. Well, finally some clarification, there are several people with this problem in different forums. Apparently it is ralated to some incompatibility between LanPartys and some TCCx from OCZ and Patriot (possibly others). But the worst thing is that these companies know about this problem and . . . well . . . Nothing.
  5. For this testing, everything is a stock speeds, ram tested at 2.6v, 2.7v, 2.8v, 2.9v and some in between. The thing is that both of them work at any CAS in a Asus A8N-SLI Premium, and the OCZ work at 275 2.5-4-4-8 1T in an MSI K8N Neo4 SLI.
  6. Well, after additional testing this is what I found: Gear tested: 2 DFI LP nF4 SLI-DR rev. AB0 (both) 2x512MB Patriot PDC1G4800+XBLK SPD Timings: 303MHz > 2.5-5-5-11 357MHz > 3.0-6-6-13 2x512MB OCZ OCZ4001024ELDCPER2-K (v1.1) SPD Timings: 200MHz > 2-3-2-5 Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Opteron 165 I´ve tried different BIOS versions, different setting but no matter what I try, It´s impossible to do CAS2 at stock speeds. Also, I've tried CAS1.5 @ DDR333(just for testing) and it even boot to Windows desktop, it's not stable but it boot. BUT, CAS2.5 o CAS3 pass Memtest but it crashes immediatly after booting Windows or Linux. It seems to be some problem with the board and BIOS because this same memory work perfectly with an Asus A8N-SLI premium. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  7. No issue, I just want to know where the problem is and if it's possible to solve it without replacing the mobo. Thanks.
  8. Thanks Eric, I've just finished testing this with an Opty 165, the same problem. Definitly is the mobo. Saaaaaaaaaad I'm not mixing the RAM, and yes, I've tried it with no luck. Thanks
  9. Ok, to make a long story short . . . I can´t do anything but CAS2 in my system, everything else means crashes or not booting at all, even with "Optimizad Defaults" at stocks speeds and changing ONLY the CAS value to 2.5 or 3. This happens also with a pair of 512MB PC3200 OCZ Platinum Rev. 2. Both brands were tested in another system and worked at any CAS value but, sadly, I can't test the other parts right now. I tried different BIOS, I cleared de CMOS (following the DIY-Street guide), I even did a 50+ hours CMOS clear and nothing. I think this is related to de A64 memory controller refusing to work at a CAS value different than 2 but I'm not sure about it. Can it be the mobo/BIOS? Also, a strange thing: even after clearing the CMOS, the two saved profiles I have in "CMOS Reloaded" are still present. Is this normal? Putting this aside, the system is 100% stable at stock speeds and overclocked (see my sig). Any ideas? Thanks.
  10. Just one: 1x92mm Panaflo/NMB FBA09A12H - Rear Plus a 120mm Panaflo/NMB FBA12G12H on the Thermalright SI-120 My temps: Idle: CPU 30 - Mobo 30 - Chipset 34 Load: CPU 38 - Mobo 36 - Chipset 38
  11. I've heard of it mostly in forums, In my experience I never needed to do that in any of the 67 rigs assembled so far with AS5. Never a change in temps but as I said: this is my experience.
  12. When you have a naked core it's allways better (safer) to use something non conductive and non capacitive like the Ceramique, AS5 is also NC but can have a capacitive effect. I've used both on my CPU with no difference at all but it depends on each particular setup. Both are excellent anyway.
