  1. Anybody else hear of the other launch shortly after? on the other side of the ocean? North Korea is at it again....
  2. FYI i can get the ram off of newegg new for around ~180. for when you go about selling everything...
  3. Or like me, who has had mine for over a year, please kindly check your battery on the motherboard, one way to check is AFTER a CMOS clear, Just Dont put the battery back in ^_^ if it boots good, put it in again, if you get the same thing, then need a new 3v battery ^_^ , if it still boots anyways, even better, I'm Liking this run on sentence thing!
  4. Just make sure it dosent get all over (the epoxy that is) as it will block the heat comming from the CPU! and to be on the safe side, dont use to much as to not get in main part of the CPU. I *Personally* use crazy glue, used it to glue so many computer related items, not an issue yet, and its supper strong, dosent need much, drys fast and clear too boot! I just never tried it with something as hot as a CPU...
  5. LOL, G.Skill 1 vote, OCZ 1 Vote TIED! First to 3 Wins! DDR400 Out of the running! anyways, on the opty note, nothing better as of now in its price range for it performance overhead?
  6. Might want to try make sure the bios is setup right for the PCI-E cards for SLI (just double checking ^_^ )? Also maybe set the PCI-E Speed in the Bios from 100 to 101 or 102, seems to like my card better at 101, oddly, had minor artifacts otherwise under highload wehni first got it... Now its fine no matter what, but try that?
  7. The only thing that is wrong with the drivers IMHO, like mean6 said, is upgrading/reinstalling the drivers AFTER you have installed them one, -never- has worked for me. Otherwise i think they are great, been using 6.7 for a hell of a long time now, and love the firewall, lowers netowrk CPU usage from without it (odd, ehh?) and it has so much custom options no driver could ever provide! Just remember dont upgrade/update/reinstall or do the IDE SW driver... And it should work perfectly!
  8. On my desktop I do video editng and play a ton of games (most video is from fraps, as its easy and gives me something to do between big projects, though sometimes i get stuff sent to me on firewire i got rig up looking good...). As you can see my specs below, the CPU/RAM is showing its age in both deparments >.> . After my recent ordeal of insane mysterious behavior of my motherboard (which for anyone that was following/helping, seems to have been the combo of a dead motherboard battery AND bad ram, somehow all within hours/days of each other! Somehow...). FOR anyone that says i need a new PSU i am aware of that, and my system at peak only drawing between 359-417 watts (Dad is an electrical enginer and took it into the office, as eveyone at his office loves to toy with my PC's wouldnt be surprised if they fiddled with the PSU, as that is one of the main things they do, but for aviation...). ANYWAYS! I need some ram, yup, ram. DFI Boards are picky. Yup. So i want to make sure my picks are by majority vote . yup. I do plan to overclock, yup, read below... All are 2 1gb dual channel, FYI: OCZ 2GB Platinum DDR400 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227084 G.Skill 2GB Something DDR400 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820231047 G.Skill 2GB Extreme DDR500 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820231021 OCZ 2GB Gold GX DDR500 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227066 OCZ 2GB Platinum DDR500 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227080 So for OCZ whats the diffrence between plat and gold? as there is almost no price diffrence :/ and would G.Skill be better, heard some good from them... Never really thought this much about RAM before thinking on overclocking And since i want to overclock (read below) it would be better to get the DDR 500 to be 1:1 correct? Next order of buissiness, I currently have a winchester 3000+ . It's Crap by todays standards. Havent tried to overclock, but the best i have seen is from 1.8ghz to around 2.4ghz. Still pretty bad by today standards.... So i was thinking on getting one of the :uber: opteron 165's and overclocking the hell out of it, i got a copper zalman cooler already, so should be pretty good there already. I just heard some batches are better than other sor whatnot on the opterons?? So how do i go about getting one thats right? Does it really matter all that much? Can i just use the $70 off coupon in these forums at monarch? Or is there something better than a opty 165 for around ~$350 (NO higher...) I dont want to kill it overclocking, no matter what i get as i dont have money to burn... Not to mention first time for overclock an AMD CPU, last i ever did was on an old intel P4 back when there wasnt much you could change... I just need to upgrade :/ I'm really laggin behind in video editing and my CPU is all to blame >_ , Philz (yup) P.S. Just redid my sig, so curious as to wether it is good or not ^_^
  9. Yhea UPS sometimes depending on the season changes up shipping on there end, so dont fully blame newegg, though i wouldnt be surprised, afterall they switched to UPS. Which has been nothing but grief for me! So i normally use fedex and pay the extra buck or 2
  10. Well considering the norm hasnt seemed to happen so far this cup, who know ^_^ we might beat the french! Wouldn't that be awsome! That would make my week!!1 PoUrTuGaL!!!!
  11. Heh, eveyone talking about england, france, brazil... Starting to wonder if I'm in the minority for wanting Pourtugal to win >.> . I wish i saw that england game, just sadly they dont show it over the pacific going 500mph
  12. I really never seen better cabels per say, as i think SATA is pretty standard The ones that came with the DFI are pretty good. I forgot were exactly i got them, but they do make some that on one end (not the one for the motherboard) it is bent at a 90 degree angle, instead of pluggin straight in, giving it more flush, sturdy, and tideier connection ^_^ . Ehh, quick check newegg found this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16812104557
  13. Also, remember that SIMPLY haveing 4 is a little problematic. As the nforce chips/amd chips are a little funky running 4, so you really need to know what you are doing with everything. I *truthfully* wouldn't even try getting all for to work, as there must be a big diffrence in the latenceys between them... and just as a reminder in case you havent read the thread yet: From: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21248 also from the sound of that one statement, dont use 4 sticks mixed ^_^ . I actually got away with 3 a while back, but that was with some tweaking in the BIOS dram config, but in the end it was worse performance wise than just using the 2 512mb geils in dual channel!
