  1. 10k score in 3dm06 is low in my opinion. I get 14k+ at stock settings with my EVGA A1 board. I realise i am running SLI but with that system id still be expecting atleast 12k. Sounds like somethings not set up right in the BIOS. Has he tried to overclocking it ? cause a messed up overclock causes this board to restart at much lower frequencys so you can fix the problem. My board has clocked my cpu right down to 1.6ghz after an unsuccessful overclock. Prehaps frequencys arn't set up correctly. Has he tried another hard drive ?
  2. Same here. Though the BSOD's only occour after updating to the v10001 patch. Game runs awsome with NO BSOD's if it isn't patched reguardless of what driver versions I am using.
  3. Dont think there is a fix to this problem. Use the keyboard in a USB port and see if that helps. Heres a post bout this problem on the EVGA site - http://www.evga.com/community/messageboard...?TOPIC_ID=22501 P.S upgrade your BIOS. The P27 BIOS is out now.
  4. Ok cool. What fan do you plan to use with the N/B chip?
  5. Your board should have already have and MCP fan with it. You have to install it when you unpack the motherboard. Mine was in a small black box, didnt you have one with your motherboard? As for the MCP temp, there isnt and windows app that can read this temp yet. I read somewhere that the next release on ntune will display this temp in NVIDIA Monitor.
  6. You may be able to get a higher overclock if you enable "linkboost" in the BIOS or manualy set the PCI frequency to 125mhz or higher. Unsure how those guys can get those clock speeds, perhaps they were using water cooling. Ill give some of those numbers ago when ive got this new m/b running properly and will post the results.
  7. I got the double dash code of death ! Shut down the computer like normal, turned it on the next day and it wouldnt do any thing reguardless of what hardware was plugged in or not. CMOS clear didnt work, also wouldn't boot outside the case either so I ruled out any potential grounding issues. Ya win some ya lose some I guess.....Ive ordered an Asus Striker board so hopefully ill have better luck with this board.....
  8. Thats insane !! :eek2: lol...awsome job there.....Is there effects avalible like this for windows ?
  9. Just like you said, trial and error....test it at both clocks and see how your system performance differs, if at all..... Ran another test, AquaMark 3 - I have no idea how this score campairs against others as when I try to submit the results the page wont load.......
  10. Link is now working again, unpublished it cause I got a little higher score when using a higher multi and lower FSB, heres the link if your interested - 3d mark 06 - 17381 marks Awsome ! that will make things alot easier, thanks for the update ! Edit: Flashed my cards using the new method, works great. Though the second card flashed alot slower for some reason. Tweaked the xxx bios as you did and have reflashed. Also a the new P25 BIOS is now avalible for our boards if you didnt already know.....
  11. ...Why not just buy it in 6 months time, it will probably be cheaper...Not much point it just sitting in a box....Id put it in straight away, it should run great in XP....unless you plan on running it with Vista, the drivers still suck.... I can get over 17,000 marks in 3d mark 06 in XP, but when I run it with Vista I cant even get over 14,000 marks...The drivers have a long ways to go....
  12. My setup - QX6700 @3.4GHZ, EVGA 680i AR, Corsair Dominator 2Gb 8500C5D @531MHZ, 2x XFX 8800GTS's @ 625/1000, BenQ FP241W 24in LCD Monitor.. Vsync on - @1600x1200 Minimum - 59 Average - 59 Maximum - 65 Vsync off - @1600x1200 Minumum - 83 Average - 158 Maximum - 429 Edit : Gona try and push the CPU even higher and re-test.....
  13. Got it from here - Nvidia BIOS Editor V3.2 Heres what I edited -
  14. Modifed my video card BIOS using the Nvidia BIOS editor program, manualy set the frequencys - GPU Core - 625mhz, Shader Clock - 1450mhz, Memory Clock - 1000mhz Had some problems with RivaTuner as it isnt fully compatible with the 97.92 drivers yet. Managed to overclock with the program but when I tried to set the card back to its stock settings it wouldn't work properly. Ran 3d mark after trying to reset to stock settings and my 3d mark score went down into the 9000's. Uninstalled RivaTuner, uninstalled drivers, and used the Driver Cleaner.NET utility in safe mode....Reinstalled my drivers and every thing was fine afterwards... Also overclocked the CPU from 266*10 (2.66ghz) to 310*11 (3.4ghz) without increasing the Vcore. Ran 3d Mark 06 again and heres the new score - Stock Settings (12740 marks) CPU + Video Card O/C (17364 marks)
  15. lol...For now atleast.... I read a review some where that said that your wasting your time with 8800GTX Sli unless you have atleast a 3ghz cpu cause of bottlenecks. From what I understand there were quite a few problems with the 97.02 drivers with which you ran 3d mark, would very much like to see your scores using the 97.92 drivers and your new system.....
  16. Thanks for the advice Viper ! I will give that a go..... Ok spent all morning benching, flashing and waiting....and heres the results, was very supprised by the Vista results.....quite disappointing I though they'd be better, though this is the first chipset driver package no doubt they will evolve.....(Used the nforce_680i_sli_winvista32_15.00_english_whql package) Vista Stock BIOS Before Chipset Drivers (NON Sli) - Score: 11363 Vista Stock BIOS After Chipset Drivers (NON Sli) - Score: 11114 Vista XXX BIOS Before Chipset Drivers (NON Sli) - Score: 11387 Vista XXX BIOS After Chipset Drivers (NON Sli) - Score: 10678
  17. Ok, heres my system setup in a little more detail - nForce 680i SLI (122-CK-NF68-AR) P24 BIOS (2.053.66) (9.53 nforce Driver Package) Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme QX6700 2.66Ghz 4x2Mb Cache (1.35v) Corsair Dominator 8500C5D DDR2 2 GIG Kit 5-5-5-15 (2.2v) 2x Seagate Barracuda 250gb (RAID 0) 2x XFX Geforce 8800GTX's (BIOS 60.80.08.00.38) (97.92 forceware Driver Package) On Board Sound Enermax Galaxy 1000w PSU Windows XP Home SP2 (All Updates) V.2002 ntune V.5.05.25.00 I have no other tuning apps...... You can view my 3d mark results in more detail here at the 3d mark website - (These test were done in XP) Stock Settings WIth XXX BIOS As far as driver installation went, I uninstalled the drivers, rebooted, flashed, and then re-installed the drivers....If you havnt done so already, make sure you uninstall Riva Tunner before flashing and re-installing drivers as this can create problems.... The Vista chipset drivers for the 680i have been released sometime in the last 24 hours, so I will run 3d mark before driver installation and then after....will post the results when finished.......should be interesting
  18. Ok, ran 3d Mark 2006, heres the results - Pre XXX BIOS (12740 3d Marks) Post XXX BIOS (14207 3d Marks) Seems there is a noticible difference in performance.....Managed another 1467 marks with the XXX BIOS.... Edit: Will post Vista results tomorrow.....
  19. I personally dont like using floppys, the only thing I will use them for is installing RAID drivers. I flash my BIOS with a Usb Flash drive and if I knew how to install RAID drivers with a flash drive id throw the floppy drive in the bin...... Had a problem installing Windows XP a while back, would get to the part where I had to install 3rd party drivers, they appeared to load fine and as soon as it got to the windows setup part, it said it couldnt detect any hard drives, after much trouble shooting on a hunch checked the floppy and the files had become corrupt....reformated it and windows installed fine afterwards...Wont trust a floppy with anything more than RAID drivers now..... edit : Did some google'ing. It appears you can install RAID drivers from a flash drive in Vista when re-installing but not in XP....
  20. I am guessing its a driver issue - Have only flashed 1 card at the moment to see how things go....though I have already flashed back as this BIOS seems to be very unstable with the Nvidia 100.XX drivers, Rainbow Six crashes within minutes somethimes in Vista but runs "fine" in XP, though for some reason I have a keyboard and mouse issue with this game in XP that I have given up on trying to solve. I just run it in Vista as it runs it way smoother and without that issue... Even running Rainbow Six in SLI with the nHancer tweak the game still chuggs in XP, more than certain its something to do with the 97.92 driver...if not the motherboard drivers aswell.... Didnt do any benching as theres not much point yet....Though the game was definitely running faster and smoother with fewer slow downs with the XXX BIOS....As soon as some new drivers are released I will reflash and do some benching and will let ya know..... edit: By the way rainwood, noticed your stock BIOS version is (60.80.06.00.12), I have a newer version of the stock BIOS that was on this card when I bought it - (60.80.08.00.38) - (ID:10de:0191:1682:2250), If you want it would be more than happy to send it to you......
  21. Go into your "Genie BIOS" menu, the settings I am referring to are in there about 3 quarters down the page....I know cause I just upgraded from this board and had the exact same probem getting sli going to...hope this helps..
  22. Nice guide rainwood, flashed to this B.I.O.S myself....Just wanted to add that it is possible to flash the cards using a USB Flash Drive which I feel way, way more comfortable with than floppy disks.... Download the "HP Drive Key Boot Utility". (Note you still need to create a floppy boot disk, the program copys the boot sectors from the floppy and wrties them to the flash drive.) After its finished, open your flash drive, no files will appear on it but this is normal....copy your utilitys and B.I.O.S.... Restart the computer with the flash drive still in......Go into your B.I.O.S under "hard disk boot priority", set your flash drive as No. 1... and your normal boot drive as No. 2 Save and restart.... You can now install the new B.I.O.S from the flash drive using the same commands that rainwood stated...Though A:> will be replaced with C:>. Remove flash drive after flashing and restart....windows should load up fine, you wont need to adjust the B.I.O.S settings back.....
  23. So you "enableled" the dual nv card option in the bios then? that 8-4-8 option above it should then change colour and be unchangeable until you disable the dual nv card option.....
  24. If you plan on upgrading to vista in the future, id go with an 8800 as they fully support directX 10....I dont think the 7950's support dx10 at all so you wont be able to play games like Alan Wake and Crysis...correct me if I am wrong.
  25. Kind of sucked for me aswel....but downloaded nhancer and used the f.e.a.r profille with raindow six....simply renamed the exe to f.e.a.r and then the game runs in sli...makes a huge difference to game play performance, runs fine in maxed out settings now...the same method can be used fo AA aswel..
