    Guess what...

This game is freaking awesome  !!! People dont hesitate to go and buy !!! Best settings I can run on my pc before it starts to jolt is 1680x1050 and all graphic options set to high.... It will run so so so @ 1920x1200 but settings have to be at medium to be playable.
  3. I was just wondering if anyone else is having trouble networking between 2 vista computers. When I try to transfer files between the 2 even though they are connected at 100mbps the transfer rate is goes between 2 - 10 mbps ! It takes ages to copy things over.. Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it ? Edit : Also I have done all the classics like disabling firewalls and turning all the file sharing stuff on... I have also disabled Remote Differential Compression.
  4. You could always try the "163.44" beta drivers... http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_download...betadriver.html
  5. Thats how I overclock my video cards. I just mod it using the nvidia bios editor then flash it to my cards.... I dont like software oc'ing...
  6. 2.1v seems a little low for that memory. When you say it wont work at 2.3v what do you mean? It wont boot ect.... As for the Cpu voltage... I would leave it at auto... I would start adjusting it if i had problems with booting and prime testing ect.... Also did you try the divider method that I suggested ?
  7. Id try setting your FSB to 1600 with a 3:2 divider. That will give you 3.6ghz with memory at 1066mhz....you may be able to clock your ram higher buy adjusting the FSB....
  8. First of awesome system  Your gonna be able to push that system so much further than you have.. This is my 3dm06 test that I ran when I was using my EVGA board - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=1205009 (17381) To get that score I had to have the Ram and Video cards overclocked aswell. Have'nt tried overclocking with my Striker yet. Id suggest getting water cooling anyways, the stock fan for these CPU's are loud as. My entry in the old F.E.A.R. FPS thread... http://www.diy-street.com/forum/showthread...t=66707&page=20 Vsync on - @1600x1200 Minimum - 59 Average - 59 Maximum - 65 Vsync off - @1600x1200 Minumum - 83 Average - 158 Maximum - 429
  9. Bumped up the voltages but it still crashed. On a hunch, set the affinity to 1 core and the game isnt crashing now..... Is R6Vegas multicore compatible ? Also used a mm and voltages are- Idle 5v - 5.09 Idle 12v - 12.36 Load 5v - 5.09 (Didn't even drop) Load 12v - 12.33
  10. Congrats on the new board. I was using the same board as a backup while waiting for my Striker to come back. RMA took almost 5 MONTHS ! But thats another story.... The EVGA is a great board. Id start with the usual, install lastest drivers and update your BIOS. Then run 3dm06 to see where your at as far as performance is concerned.. PS, Whats your full system specs ?
  11. Not running vista yet... Ive got it but it sucks the big one as far as performance goes... Gonna wait until SP1 comes out to see if that helps boost performance. Ill Give that a try and post back the results....
  12. Hi people. It annoys kme when I am trying to get a system stable and I cant tell what the problem is like when a game crashes on me. For example, I can be playing Rainbow Six Vegas, the game will be running flawlessly and the game will just hard lock on me, no BSOD no crash back to the desktop just hard locks with looping sound and I have to push the reset button. So then I think, maybe ill check the event viewer to see if there was an error logged there...no such luck... So I am just left sitting here trying to figure out what the heck went wrong, driver or system config error...who knows.. Right after the crash I ran a quick 20min test of 2x Orthos, and 2x memtests while running 3dm06 and no crash, no mem errors. Every thing is at stock frequencys and stock voltages, and all the latest drivers and BIOS are installed. So I guess what I am asking is, is this crash problem probably more to do with the game rather than my config of the system ?
  13. :eek2: Wow those screen shots are insane. ! :eek2: "Experienced stalkers and newbies! Get ready for the new challenges in the exclusion zone in Q1 2008." So hopefully not to far of then......
  14. I like bling on my motherboards so I quite like the copper rollercoaster. I would much rather look at that than the plane old grills you see on most motherboards nowdays. But the RAM slots do look gay !
  15. Whether or not it was a dumb idea or not is irrelevant now, the cards on its way. Your always gonna have people for and against. Enjoy your 8800, they are awsome cards.
  16. My 680i is great ! The 1 thing I like most about the board is the BIOS, is really easy to tweak compaired to the Striker that I am still RMA'ing, almost 2 months now ! The only thing that annoys me is if I really botch up an overclock I have to remove one of my video cards to reach the CMOS jumper. By the way make sure you get the revision board, it may just solve any headaches you'd encounter with the AR which I had.
  17. I upgraded from 2 7800gt's to my current setup. They were good cards but as I like to run games in their highest resoultions and max settings they simply couldn't handle the newer games. Play a game like Rainbow Six Vegas or S.T.A.L.K.E.R maxed out and youl know what I am talking about. I suppose it all depends on how much you like your eye candy and are willing to pay for it. As for Vista I have it but dont run it as theres no need for it yet. XP is great and I wont make the switch to Vista until DX10 games are out. But as you already have a new CPU M/B and ram it would almost be a waste of components and money to put the 7800's in the system. You might have been better of waiting until DX10 games were out and upgrading your components then as there will no doubt be better components on the market such as DDR3, AMD Quad Cores ect that will make current hardware and future equivalents cheaper...

  19. I have 2 8800GTX's, I run every game I have in there highst resoulutions and they look awsome on them at high resoulutions. What system are you looking at setting up ?
  20. This happens to me to, but only under heavy processing. I have never really considered it a problem. The computer runs just fine and gets me over 17000 3d06 marks. P.S This happened with my other EVGA 680i board bedore I had to RMA it. I dont think my striker made any noises though. Ill let you know when I get it back. Ive been in the going through the RMA process for over a MONTH now !!! And they said I MIGHT have it back it the next couple of weeks. The RMA process sucks here in Australia. It took a month to get my evga board when I sent it back and it was through a different online shop...
  21. Thought id add my results here aswell. I have 2 Seagate 250GB 7200RPM HDD's in RAID 0 -
  22. Ive not had this card but I would give this a go..... The stock frequencys for this card are 450/1320 MHz. You can use Riva Tuner, or you can manualy edit the Video Card BIOS using NVIDIA BIOS Editor and then flashing your card using NVFLASH. You could also try flashing a newer BIOS to the card. You can search for one here - mvktech.net
  23. I have the new A1 revision board. Had to RMA my old board becuase it died for an unknown reason. The replacement board works awsome. As for the RAID controller question, I dont know how many controllers there are but you will be able to setup your hard drives and your SATA DVD-RW the way you ask. Ive got 2 SATA HDD's on the first 2 ports in RAID 0 and another 2 SATA drives in ports 3,4 but they arn't in RAID. Its just a matter of setting up RAID on the ports that you want... As for the board killing RAM, I had read posts at EVGA saying that this board was killing dominator ram. I havn't had any problems with either boards that I had. This board runs this ram fine at 2.2v @ 1066 MHZ. Also these boards are awsome overclockers ! What components are you considering on running on this board ?
  24. We will have to wait and see what the 8900GTX and 8950GX2 cards will have to offer
  25. Havn't had any problems with this driver so far so id go for it. Enjoy your 8800 there awsome cards !
