  1. hmmm... a smoking processor... that doesnt sound very healthy... lets overclocking some MORE!... /sarcasm plus who cares if the mobo sensers arent bang on... between your case and a third party temp probe you shouldnt even have to worry about the mobo sensers...
  2. well is there any "theme" to this pc or is it just all cool stuff you wanna show off... you could lookng for a psu that has UV wrapped cables, so that they look cool even if their not hooked up... but i would go with the 580w mainly cuz bigger looks cooler... that concept of having a massive psu is: A) to power everything... B) to look cool doing it... and cause this is a show PC it should look cool doing anything...
  3. thank you for doing the math... i know 485w is close, but thats what i bought and i sure as hell am gonna try on it... im asking cuase ive never bought a DFI board... until you guys told me 10 minutes ago my PSU wasn't big enough, i hadnt seen any other problems... i wanted to to see if you HAD to flash the bios... cuz ive never done that... this mobo is great for tweaking, that what i want... thats why i choose not buy an asus or msi... now, im sorry to everyone i typed caps at... thanks for your quick replies...
  4. ok, fine... IF run into problems... THEN i will buy a bigger PSU, the only reason i am ranting is because people are telling me you HAVE to get a bigger psu... the one i have will work just fine for the time being... i dont plan to run sli until later this year... now, im sorry for typing is all caps... but the fact is there... a 485w and its 24pin connection meets the requiments listed by this forum... mabye not you reconmendations for sli, fine i will deal with that when i want to run sli... in the meantime is there any other problems...
  5. im farily sure that 30A on the 12V rails is enough for sli anyways...
  6. for **** sake... yea i know its on the list... im jusy saying my system ISNT GOING TO BE USING 7800GTX CARDS THAT NEED 631857486595 WATTS TO WORK... MY GRAPHCIS CARDS SAY 400W FOR SLI... MY PSU IS 485W WHAT IS THE PROBLEM!!! IF IT DOESNT WORK I WILL BUY A BIGGER POWER SUPPLY AND I JUST SAID THAT I WONT BE RUNNING SLI FOR A COUPLE MONTHS ANYWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! / rant
  7. wow, ive heard of this with a usb mouse, but never a ps2 one... could it be a software problem with windows... (one in a million...)
  8. ok, my psu says is sli-certified that is the reason i bought it... everything i can find says it fine for sli... what makes this motherboard draw more power than the rest???
  9. well, seeing as i already bought some of the parts and i am using them as we speak... (psu, one vid card, sound card, ram, burner...) i dont really wanna invest in another psu, I doubt i will run into problems, i wont be running sli for a few months anyways...
  10. sorry, i messed up writing my sig, ill change in in a sec, the actual mobo is a SLI-DR, not a sli-dr expert, my IE bookmarks are being stupid on me again... also, my grpahics card other recommend 400w for sli, and the opterons use less watts than the more standard X2's (a opteron is just a X2 witha lower price tag and clock speed...)
  11. now, i know that someone is going to say search for what im about to ask, i cant search for what i dont know... this is my first ever DFI mobo based build, ive build 3 other computers on asus and and intel mobo's, this will be my first "gaming rig" so to speak... now i want to know is there anything i might run into using the components in my sig? (ive read through some of the build step posts already...) i also want to make sure that opterons work on the mobo i want... and corsair ram with a timing of 3-3-3-8 should be fine right?... i have downloaded any utilities people have said you need (memtest, cpu-z, cpu burn-in, etc.) now, the other thing is ive never flashed a bios, so im a little concerned with doing that for the first time... now, all that being said, is there anying else important i should know...
  12. in actuallity, the part of the card thats inside the case measures exactly 9" long, the board you picked is fine, you will just have to make sure your HDD or Floppy drive bay baskets or slots are short enough, you may have to mount your floppy/ HDD in a werid place because of the length of the vid card... BTW the X1800XL AIW is an exllecent card, i wish i could of got one, but the 24pin connecter on my mobo is in the way, so i went through hell trying to find out how long this card is... unfounatly i had to go with a 6800GS because of the size of the card...
