  1. Too late, but thanks for the thought... Ordered the card this morning. I may kick myself later for not waiting, but I'm running Oblivion for the second time and would like to get the card now to see if it'll make a big difference while I'm still playing the game.
  2. Well, I finally ordered another card. I'd been hoping to find another Xtreme version clocked at 520/1500 like my current card. All the vendors I use have those cards as out of stock though, so I went ahead and ordered one that is clocked at stock settings and I'll just OC. Wish me luck...
  3. Thanks to all! That's why I like to come here when I have a question, responses are quick and always helpful...
  4. Thanks! When the card I'm looking for is back in stock I think I'm gonna snag it...
  5. Ah, I see. To my mind, buying a ~$250 7900GT to add into my system would be the best way to improve the performance of my system. The CPU is chugging along fine @ 2.4Ghz and I already have 2GB RAM and a fairly speedy hard drive. The only real bottleneck in my system is the video card. I'm assuming that will smooth out games that don't run as well now. Even spending a ton of cash on a new Conroe platform wouldn't improve things any better then adding a second 7900GT from what I understand. Of course, I could be wrong...
  6. I was under the impression that with SLI I would be able to run higher AA and AF settings then I would be able to without. Also, certain games like Oblivion seem to run slower then I'd like, even after optimizing the .ini file and such. I thought going SLI would improve my performance in games that aren't performing well enough now at 1280x1024. At the same time, I'd really like to upgrade to a larger monitor in the future and an SLI setup should enable me to have good performance when I do (I'm guessing).
  7. Well, it's been quite a while and I've come full circle back to this question...lol! So, I now have a 7900GT (upgraded my son's computer to my 7800GT and bought myself the 7900GT) and I'm thinking of going SLI. Is the Expert mobo stable in this config? I know I've seen tons of people in forums using SLI, but I wanted to verify this particular board works well with it. I've heard SLI has come a long way and works much better then it used to. Also, my understanding is that you don't have to have the exact same model, is that true? I have the XFX PV-T71G-UDE7 7900GT, but I can't find it in stock anywhere. Would I be better off waiting for that model, or can I use any 7900GT as long as they're the same clock/RAM speeds?
  8. Tea? I want my green beer! Happy St. Patty's Day everyone!
  9. Yeah, please don't take my comments as trashing the case. I loved my PC-65B! It's a beautiful, well made case, that's a pleasure to work in. It just happens to have a few minor flaws. If you're into modding or playing around with it, it's great. My old case is still doing a wonderful job housing my son's system.
  10. Can't, there isn't room because of the way the case is built (because of the removeable mobo tray). You could easily add a second 80mm fan in the back under the one that's there though...
  11. I don't have a 7900 series card, but I like my XFX 7800GT. I think the quality and double lifetime support are great.
  12. Sorry to hear about the swaparoo on the card. Hope you end up getting your 7900GT! I've had minor problems with Newegg and MAJOR problems with UPS. All shippers suck though. I've had problems with like every one... Personally, I've been ordering parts from ZipZoomFly more often the Newegg lately. They usually beat Newegg in prices a lot of the time, plus have better shipping. That said, I also have had decent luck with ClubIT. I got my CM Stacker 830 there for $30 cheaper then anywhere else, PLUS it had free 3 day shipping, which saved me another $17 - $30!
  13. I had the same problem. Had a lian li PC65b and loved the case, but my temps (with a P4 mind you) were a little higher then I liked, no matter what I did. I ended up building my son a computer with that case and bought a TT Tsunami Dream. Lowered my temps by 3 - 5C and was quieter because of the 120mm fans. Of course, the build quality was nowhere near as good, but it was still a nice case. Now that case houses my LAN party box and I have a CM Stacker 830 which is the coolest case I've ever owned. Awesome build quality and the best airflow around...
  14. First and middle initial, plus my last name...
  15. Yeah, I guess the best thing to do will be wait and see if any games need more of a boost. If so, then I'll worry about selling my current card and getting a 7900GT or just buying a second 7800GT and going with that...
