  4. guys i noticed that my core2 seems to be "slower" than my core 1 when it comes to priming. i see core 1 at self-test 48k test 1. yet core 2 is still at self-test 40k test 4. why is this so?? anyway it's been stable for 10hrs already at 2.9ghz
  5. i retested the prime95 on the same settings but somehow core 2 fails at 24mins! and core 1 was still stable when i got back, stable for 26hrs! wtf?
  6. houston, i have a problem. ok i tried priming 2.9ghz on some previous dram settings with some tweaks. core 2 passed prime95 without issues for 11hrs, core 1 goes on strong..... vcore not enough? already using (1.5x109.6%)
  7. thanks for the tip charmed and gdogg, i reapplied the as5 paste quite thinly. half a grain? anyway, smeared it ard, evenly.(think i can see my steppings even) anyway load temps are down 10degC. now single core prime is 38 compared to 48?
  8. damn..i was planning on ordering some dry ice as a way to temporary cool the system down( i dont mean going to dry ice, i am still using watercooling and the dry ice is just to bring the temps down) it's sort of like the dry ice is just for benchmark measures only. i have no idea why the temps are so high. i am running at 1.64vcore and the temps at priming is 48degC on 1 core only...
  9. as above. my dual core opteron has a weaker core 1 and i was thinking until i fix the very high temps during priming of both cores, i try priming the weaker core first to test the settings. otherwise i wouldnt know why it failed, settings not good enough or temps too high.
  10. i just bought a 2nd hand waterblock and realised there were some fine scratches at the base and not sure if that would affect contact ability, so wondering how to remove the scratches. making shine is easy, i've lapped a few times and it shines but the scratches...?

  12. thanks. so the rest of the settings tref, etc can remain while i change only the ram timings to 3-4-3-8 ? anyway i am testing core 1 which is the weaker core, priming it to see whehter are the settings stable. i reckon if it's stable, then i'll go get a better waterblock or peltier just for benchmarking.

  14. thanks for the tip. if i am using normal for DRT ? do i set MAL and RPT to manual or auto? so far i've found out only 8~9ns MAL and 6-7.5ns for RPT is stable or even bootable. for the divider, i was advised to use 120 and suggested not to go over 4100s for tREf. Btw, waht's the diff between the 3.9us and 1.95us???
  15. i have a feeling it could be temps. when both cores are priming, the temps hit 60degC on water. then within 30mins or so, core 1 fails. and core 2 can go on and on....if i prime core 1 only, it can go on and on...

  19. i am just asking abt dram settings and its links with cpu stability in this thread. because i realise no matter what settings i used, it just doesnt help make it stable. 2.9ghz thread was asking abt the stability issues. nvm then.
