  1. Guys, i am planning to get a am2 or C2D board over the weekends and I need some recommendations over the boards.

I've shortlisted the following boards due to certain price and other criterias.

    AMD

    GA-M57SLI-S4

    GA-MA69GM-S2H

    M2N-SLI Deluxe

    intel

    P5KC

    P5B-E Plus

    P5K-VM

I've lost touch with the newer tech so need inputs here..

  2. You do know Prime is no longer accepted for an OCDB entry right? ;)

You'll have to check, but I think the program they want now is Orthos. The problem is that it's easy for anyone to start Prime and then change their computer's clock to make it seem as though they ran it longer than they really did.

is tht for single dual cores or both ?

  3. Heh, this has been a comedy of errors for me. If its not one thing its another, but I'm glad I survived all the torture testing.

whatever that doesnt kill yr chip makes it(and u the overclocker) stronger

  4. Nice clock Supercharged, well done.

While the street was down i took the time to pop the lid on my 170, because like most of us one core was anything between 6c to 9c hotter than the other. As you can see from the screenie below, it has made a significant difference. Needless to say i went back to the begining with my 3.1g clock with some surprising results.

    3.1-4xldt%20(Medium).JPG

With a lot of retry's at mounting the head i managed to get the two core's temps within 1c of each other. Also as you can see, i thought i'd try the LDT multi at 4 instead of 2.5, if you can run it higher i would reccommend it, Apps snap open so fast you have to see it to believe it. I also managed to get my Tref to 3120 from 3072 and my DDDS back to Level4 from Level1. Poping that lid was defo worth it, even under phase.

    thanks man,

while the street was done, i was pushing my cpu and when i hit paydirt i was waiting to post those long awaited screenies.

  5. i am having probs with this mem. it works fine working with a 300mhz under a 5/6 or 7/10 divider but once i try to raise the mem mhz beyond 220mhz, all hell breaks loose.

    for 250mhz

memtest gives me errors like totally scrambled text or things like 198% Pass 199% test pass.

    199%?

230/240mhz gives me 500+ errors on each pass.

i am very surprised as my old rams 2x1GB corsair VS rams using uccc chips like the above, can clock stable at 250mhz, booted to 270mhz before.

  6. Supercharged - all done, nice work on the entry, what sort of cooling are you using on that bad boy? 1.72v!?! You have balls! I like that in an overclocker.. (then again, it's pretty hot where you live so it'll need more volts)

thanks for the confidence boost. actually i simply set the vcore high so i can concentrate on dram settings

my idle temps are 27-28C depends on the programs in an aircon room set to 26deg.

using watercooling on a sweet set up.

    CatharG4 block

    Laing D5 pump.

    cooltrek 2x120mm rad

    2x 120mm papst fans

  7. Have you cleared your cache lately?

Also, about the 03 thing... that's not hanging. That's freezing.

Mine does that when my video card OC or CPU/RAM OC is too high. And it'll usually do it (9 times outta 10) in the first two tests... unlike 3DMark05, which only freezes in the last test if I'm NEAR stable but not... freakin' bastard.

Here's what I consider to be the hardests tests (on an OC's stability) besides Prime of course ;):

3DMark03 Tests 1 & 2 (If it freezes in one, you ain't no where near stable most likely, if it freezes in 2, you're close, from my experience)

3DMark05 Test 3 (Specifically, usually right when the guy is looking over the edge at the sea-wurm towards the beginning, it'll freeze. If it does, I'm either semi- or a little bit unstable)

3DMark06 Game Test 4 (The parts where it "skips a beat" aka slows down for a moment around 10 FPS are freeze points if you're unstable ;))

Those are what I run, in reverse order, to determine if Prime is worth running (06, then 05, then 03) making sure it passes one before moving on to the next, of course.

i passed all the tests except 03. which repeatedly freezes. 3dmark 01, 05, 06 had no problems. prime ran even longer (13hrs) than my previous 11hrs failure.

rams were at 133mhz dividers. so they ran abt 183mhz.

  8. Did you oc the video card? What video card do you have?

    powercolor x850xt 256mb

    using stock speeds and settings.

    another thing is,

though i had the installation success window popping up, i simply cant run 3dmark06 despite the fact that i downloaded and repeatedly uninstalled/installed it many times over.
