  1. Thanks for the input, it looks like this new toy is the way to go lol. To MonarchComputers!
  2. Hi there ... just noticed that the new OCZ PSU's were listed at ZipZoomFly and im looking to grab one up if they're actually in stock. I saw that RyderOCZ posted at the BE forums that the new PSU's would be out at the end of april, so if anyone who has one would mind giving a quick rundown on it, that would be much appreciated . So my questions... should I grab one of these GameXtreams or get a Powerstream instead? and what exactly is so valuable about the adj. rails on the powerstream, if that's the reason that people might suggest a powerstream over a gamextream? - Dan
  3. As much as I hate playing the underhanded devils advocate, keep in mind that if something unfortunate were to happen to your 7800gt and you take advantage of the warranty, then if what evga is saying about reduced production costs between 7800gt and 7900gt then they might just replace your 7800 with a shiny new 7900 to save a few bucks. Just a thought, though i could be wrong.
  4. Probably wont hurt . PS: Dont let the mods see your ebay link
  5. Nope, the offer is still good as of 7PM central time, I guess you just cant order twice.
  6. Yeah, I think I vaguely remember a clan by the name The Collective, but that was a long time ago if my terrible memory is right. As for BF2 and DoD, how do they feel gameplay-wise compared to SOF? Ive played multiple FPSs after SOF but I still think that SOF is the "smoothest" of the whole bunch. SOF also seemed a hell of a lot faster paced than some of these newer games as well ... in order to play SOF and really kick some solid butt you had to have the reflexes and aim of a coked out ninja, and so far I have yet to see those standards lately. Fraghappy games like halo2 and the UT series are fun, but theyre a whole different genre of FPS
  7. Thats amazing, once I get my machine up and running I'll have to see if i cant get either of you two to fire up SOF2 with me for a round or two. Btw what clan were you guys in? Would be pretty cool if i recognized either of you from your clan or tags. PS - if DoD is as good as angry says it is, and he loves SOF (and hates CS) then that makes my day! Ive been getting down lately at the thought of my favorite game slowly dying with no replacement in sight, but ill try out DoDsource and see how I like it :shake:
  8. Offtopic: Yeah, Tool is actually supposed to be coming out with a new album here in the next couple of months, im getting pretty stoked, though I just hope that they don't kick out some lateralus-esque rehash (though for the record, I think Schism is my ALL time Tool favorite). Deftones are supposed to be coming out with a new album too IIRC, though personally id rather see Chino put his time more into Team Sleep (who i absolutely love) Ontopic: @A_G or Momma - Just out of curiosity, have either of you ever played Soldier of Fortune 2? Its my favorite FPS out there and has been for like the past 4 years lol. If youre bored sometime, you should try it out.. its like CS, except without the turret aiming, the crappy hit boxes, the choppy movement, the 1337 cr0wd, and all the sw33t CS hax. In a nutshell, its like CS, except actually fun to play (I kid, although I wont play CS ever again unless im getting paid for it lol) :tooth:
  9. The Doors - The End Jimi Hendrix Alone and At Home - 1983 Gorrillaz - Dare The Haunted - Abysmal Probot - Big Sky Team Sleep - Natalie Portman Nirvana (Unplugged in NY) - The Man Who Sold the World Pink Floyd - Time STP - Dancing Days
  10. @Redsky: Be careful what you post about "not buying software". DFI has a zero-tolerance policy towards anything even remotely piracy-related, so mentioning that you don't pay for your software could garner you a nice long vacation from the DFI boards.
  11. @ Inphared: The eVGA Step-UP program only allows you to make one trade during the course of the whole program. Not sure if a new "program" is implimented once you purchase a new card, but my guess is no. Just something to keep in mind.
  12. Ok, thanks a bunch for the input! I'll stick with the SD, and as for the fans Silverstone is definitely a good choice. I'm just afraid that I wont be able to effectively cool my machine if I have them set too low RPM-wise for noise purposes.
  13. Ok, I made a few changes as requested MoBo: As for my MoBo, I'm undecided. I'm not sure if I would even use all of the features that the Expert offers, so any reccomendations would be greatly appreciated. Maybe a DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX MoBo for like 30 bucks less? Or would it just be worth the $$ to stick with the Expert? CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 1GHz FSB Socket 939 ... considering just downgrading to a Venice, though this is unlikely. CPU Fan/HS: Thermaltake CL-P0200 Silent 938 K8 - AMD K8 solution w/ Heatpipe HDD: Western Digital Raptor 74gb, with an old 80gb Maxtor HDD from my old computer (if knoppix can save it anyways) for archiving purposes. PSU: OCZ Powerstream 520W RAM: G.SKILL Extreme Series 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 500 (PC 4000) Dual Channel Kit Case: Thermaltake XASER, Armor Series VA8000BWS Black Case Fans: x2 - SilenX Ixtrema Pro 120x38mm 14dBA Fan x2 - SilenX Ixtrema Pro 92x25mm 14dBA Fan Video Card: PNY Geforce 6800GS VCG6800SXPB Video Card Fan Controller: COOLER MASTER ALD-V01-U1 5.25" AEROGATE I FAN SPEED CONTROLLER CD drive and Floppy drives from my last rig
  14. Hi there! I'm looking to purchase a whole new rig after I experienced a mishap with my old PSU and it fried my old system. This is my 2nd rig that I've built myself but for all purposes here, I'm fresh meat, so please feel free to tear apart what I've got. So far; MoBo: DFI Lanparty UT Sli-DR Expert ... I'm not sure if this is exactly what I want, as this will be my first overclock, and I'm not sure that I could really use this monster to its full potential. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813136166 CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 1GHz FSB Socket 939 ... bumped up to this from the Venice, this seems to have a very stable overclock, which is exactly what i'm looking for. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103539 CPU Fan/HS: Thermaltake CL-P0200 Silent 938 K8 - AMD K8 solution w/ Heatpipe http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16835106068 HDD: Western Digital Raptor 74gb http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822144160 PSU: FSP Group (Fortron Source) FX600-GLN ATX12V/ EPS12V 600W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817104014 RAM: OCZ EL Platinum Revision 2 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Dual Channel Kit http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820146890 Case: Thermaltake XASER, Armor Series VA8000BWS Black http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811133154 Case Fans: x2 - SilenX Ixtrema Pro 120x38mm 14dBA Fan http://www.voyeurmods.com/index.php?action...d=7&prevstart=0 and x2 - SilenX Ixtrema Pro 92x25mm 14dBA Fan http://www.voyeurmods.com/index.php?action...d=7&prevstart=0 Video Card: PNY Geforce 6800GS VCG6800SXPB Video Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814133159 Fan Controller: COOLER MASTER ALD-V01-U1 5.25" AEROGATE I FAN SPEED CONTROLLER http://www.svc.com/ald-v01-u1-19.html CD drive and Floppy drives are still useable from my last rig As for overclocking, I'm hoping for something powerful, but stable at the same time. This machine will mainly be used for gaming and video/audio editing. Anyways, thanks for reading! Dan
