  1. Thanks alot for the posts guys. I am begining to agree with you. I am thinking I am going to go for 1500 fsb which will give me 3375. I did end up ordering the Tuniq today. I will lap it when I get it. I am still at 1.35 volts at the moment. I will sit tight until I get the Tuniq. I have the following build L630B025 which I think is a week 30 processor B revision if I am understanding how to read this correctly. I will update my progress as I go forward. I have my DDR2 at the above settings and everthing seems to be running well. I did update to the P27 bios as well.
  2. I cannot get this CPU to have consistent results. It ran for 6 hours or so the first night. Nothing changed and it ran for 30 mins the second night. I am down to the above settings but it failed at about 4 hours last night. I am really beginning to think I need to do two things to get the results that I want. First I need to scrap the Zalman and get a Tuniq. I think I messed up on that decision. Secondly, I think once that is done I need to bump the voltage to the CPU. My memory is now running great but I would like to hit about 3.5 on my overclock.
  3. Well, the above started to get more and more unstable yesterday. So I started to tinker a bit. I cannot seem to get the system stable over 1575 now. I did do some testing and got the memory running DDR2-1000 and it seems really really stable. Now just to get the chip stable and start testing again!   4. Right click on Disk 0 on the left and choose Initialize. Once you do that you can right click the unpartitioned space and continue about your merry way!

I am working on overclocking this rig right now with the above settings. I have a question about temps. I am seeing many things. Coretemp is showing 33-34 idle and 44-45 with orthos running after about 10 mins. Speedfan shows 40-41 idle and 55-57 with orthos after about 10 mins. nvidia monitor is showing 39-40 idle and about 55-57 with orthos running for 10 mins. Am I ok? I think I should be fine since I have never topped 60 and temps seem to be ok from what I can tell. I am prepping for an ocdb entry and all 3dmarks complete and so does aquamark. I did orthos for about 6 hours last night but was impatient this morning and wanted to use my computer. HAHA. I will restart orthos tonight when I hit the sack.

  8. I had that link to the DDR2 memory page. Thanks man I appreciate you posting that. I am still in debate over the heatsink/fan. I have a couple 9500s and have had great luck but maybe it is time for a change. I am leaning toward the tuniq.
  9. Well, after much thought I decided on the G.Skill. I now just need to get my EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1 Motherboard and my Intel C2D E6600 to go with my new 8800GTX and I will be set. Guess it is time to get prepped for another OCDB entry on the Intel side. This is going to be fun! Now my only real question is the cooler. Tuniq Tower or Zalman CNPS 9700 NT.

  11. I am in the process of doing an upgrade to c2d. I have decided to use the EVGA 680 Mobo, the e6600 and am going to use my 7900gtx til the end of the month when ati and nvidia bring out the new stuff. Then I will buy an EVGA 8900gtx video card.   12. I have beeb playing wow, fear, sin ep1 and hl2 ep1 and it was solid and ran well in all of them. I also ripped a couple DVDs with AGK and that worked great so I think I am pretty close to where I need to be.

  14. Thanks Happy. I did this to both my machine and my son's last night. Worked great and dropped temps over 10 degrees on his and like 8 on mine at 1/2 the RPMs. Nice easy and useful mod.
