  1. Some people here seem to do away with that cable fine...but I was under the impression you needed it.... go into a computer store and buy one...those things are darn cheap...

The final speed of the Hyper Transport link is set to default 1000mhz 2000mhz if you consider is a 2 way link. so it runs in each direction at 1000mhz so FSB at 200 with a x5 multiplier gives you what? the aforementioned 1000mhz final speed which is the spec, it's possible to run the HTT link at higher than 1000mhz, however at one point it will limit your overclock capability so the golden rule is to stay within the 1000mhz spec my spec is 290MHZ FSB, so to stay within spec I lowered the HTT multiplier to 3x which gives a final speed of 870mhz. There's no loss in performance even if I wanted to go crazy and reduced to 2x multiplier as the bandwidth is more than enough for the graphics, IDE and all that good stuff.... so...long story short... there's NO need to increase LDT voltages....leave that alone...that won't do a thing for your overclock...(heck, if you're reducing the multiplier to stay within spec, why add voltage to the ldt?) stay below 1000mhz on the final speed and you're ok
  3. No bugs...the only thing you CAN'T do is reflash your BIOS and use what you saved with your old bios onto the new you....manually write everything back and save it again... well you can...but it's NOT recommended as it could have disastrous consequences....

Sometimes adding two more sticks of ram to your current setup requires sometimes not only disabling CPC....having 4 sticks of ram not only requires command rate 2T but also limits your overclock capability....so if you have your system with the memory overclocked I'd put the memory on a divider to run as close as possible to 200mhz and then tweak it from there...

I thought like that but there's something weird that happened with me and I will have the answer soon (when I stop being lazy and remove my mobo from the case) I had the stock chipset removed and applied as5, so after I did that, the chipset temps on heavy 3d gaming never went above 48C (with the gfx card sitting on top of the chipset cooler) so...I decided to buy the evercool vr-ce like eveybody here recommended with arctic ceramique in the same order... So... removed the stock HSF installed evercool with ceramique... guess what... Temps under the same heavy 3d game still stayed at 48C... I was expecting at least a 5C drop over the old stock HSF which it didn't happen...so I'm thinking could be the ceramique or I didn't apply it properly which I don't think is the case since I have done it before....several times so I'm gonna remove the evercool, clean it and reinstall with AS5 to see the results.... I'll post it here after...
  6. I have the panaflo highspeed with that heatsink as my signature says and temps on an overclocked dual core opteron sits idle at 35C and 43 load....it's an amazing fan and only gets audible at above 2500 rpm....and even then is not as loud as say the stock chipset fan at full speed...

I feel the same way...the only problem that we "elitists" face is when trying to poke our nose and give good advice to people in these situations is "I couldn't care less as long as it works...." or "I don't overclock, so I don't give a damn about it" ....or my personal favorite "Why should I pay more to something that's gonna do the same thing? " So after pointless attempts to convince and give people good advice I came to the following conclusion.....we enthusiasts are a different "breed"..... Normal people don't understand justifying paying extra dollars for good quality and top of the line products because we enjoy hardware that much....it's a passion...passion cannot be explained....

  15. 41C idle....46 load, but then again...I used the crappy arctic céramique that I was under the impression to the better than AS5.....well....it is NOT.... when I have more time I'll clean the ceramique and reapply as5....

  21. No, that's a limitation of the old memory controllers with the Clawhammer core...dual core CPU's have improved memory controller and should run at 400mhz with 4 dimms except they will have to run at 2t command rate or in the DFI case Command per Clock disabled...
  22. AT 1.6V for a chip that defaults at 1.35v you're asking for trouble.... be happy with 2.6 and put that voltage down....
  23. If your HTT is at 270 as your sig suggests you're nowhere near needing ANY chipset voltage increase as these boards can hit 300HTT without breaking a sweat.... To prove my point....try and decrease the multiplier of your CPU to something like 5x and then see if you can get past 270HTT....I can garantee you will.... PS: at 1.8volts your CPU will either die soon, or have a very short life span....
