  1. I love my DFI Motherboard, but when a manufacture doesn't choose to support an integral part of an operating system, there is something wrong. Because of that, I do wish I went with another manufacture.
  2. My X-FI did that too, I really dunno what I did to fix it, it just worked again.
  3. Alright, so I have a Creative X-FI XtremeGamer PCI soundcard, PCIe ATI x1900xt, and a Abit Airpace Wifi PCIe. The other day my audio flaked out and when I rebooted my computer didn't see my soundcard anymore. I changed PCI slots and then 14 unknown PCI devices showed up. Then when troubleshooting that my videocard didn't turn on, though the LEDs didn't indicate that there was anything wrong, it must have seen it. The computer appeared to be booting up just fine, just my monitor wouldn't turn on. After a few resets things worked fine again. Then a little bit ago, I rebooted my computer and my abit airpace card just disappeared from the system. After rebooting, going into the bios and changing nothing and exiting and booting up again, the card reappeared. Does anyone know what is causing these issues? I have not changed any settings at all, and I am using a clean install of Windows Vista (which I've been using without issues for some time now). I'd like a stable computer again!
  4. Fans aren't so much of an issue as space between my long video card, 4 SATA drives with their cables poking out, and a Chipset heatsink right there. I need something longer than my current case.
  5. My mid-tower Cooler Master case seems more and more packed lately. I'm getting basically NO airflow in there because of my 4 hard drives in front and all of the cables jammed in between. Anyways, I'd like suggestions for a bigger or better case that's reasonably priced. I was possibly thinking about this case, but I'd like more suggestions. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811124120 And here's a pic of the cluttered setup I have right now.
  6. Man weird things happen when the chipset gets hot.... Data Execution Prevention goes slap happy, PCI cards fail, hard drives disappear, and memory errors pop up everywhere. Using an 80mm fan to blow on the copper Evercool heatsink makes that all go away. It kinda sucks, being a student and all, I needed to write a few essays, do some research and edit a video of an assembly. FYI I ordered the Thermalright HR-05-SLI. It is kinda obsurb that one would need a chipset heatsink so big. When I had an Intel system the heatsinks were just normal lol. Oh well, as long as it works!
  7. So a passive heatsink would work just fine? There, would be no videocard interference? Chipset fans are alright, but I do not like them dying. It is a pain to take everything out of the case and replace it. If I can use a passive heatsink just fine, that would be prefered. I would need the high-riser version right (the SLI version as you said)?
  8. I have an Nforce 4 motherboard, and the Evercool VC-RE chipset fan that I had on there has gone bad. I probably had that fan on there for a year with no problems. Anyways, should I order another VC-RE to replace it, or something different? I'd really like suggestions as to what is the best.
  9. I wasn't aware there was a newer bios than (Bios 04/06/2006). Can anyone elaborate?
  10. Mine seems to do that randomly too, except I have a G7. This only seemed to start happening when i switched to dual core though.
  11. Hm well I do not know if that helped or not, prime seems to not fail as fast, it takes like 4 seconds now instead of instantly. Something about a FSB higher than 269 makes things go wacko, even if the cpu is under 2Ghz. Over here this guy seemed to have the same problem too http://forums.amd.com/lofiversion/index.php/t73687.html. I've been researching still but so far no luck on what is causing instability. Like someone else said at that link I'd just like to push it furhur, I have not given up yet, I do appreciate your help.
  12. I've set the settings accordingly for my ram. I will try to see my max stable overclock with my board and ram right now. Update: Well at 280 HTT and my opty running at a x5 multiplyer it seems I still error in prime 95. So it appears it would be a setting somewhere else and not with my CPU. I was running at a 2/3 divder making my ram running at around 200Mhz. At lower buses it seems to work fine. I had it at 2.4Ghz at 269 x 9 with a 2/3 divder. What could be the problem here. My ram does indeed run above 200Mhz fine, but I am keeping it as close to 200 as I can. My settings are as follows for the ram. Memclock (DRAM Frequency) .................... 200 1T/2T Timing (Command Per Clock).............. 1T CAS Latency (Tcl)............................. 2T RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd)..................... 3T Min RAS# active time (Tras)................... 8T Row precharge time (Trp)...................... 2T Row Cycle time (Trc).......................... 10T Row refresh cyc time (Trfc)................... 16T Row to Row delay (Trrd)....................... 3T Write recovery time (Twr)..................... 3T Write to Read delay (Twtr).................... 2T Read to Write delay (Trwt).................... 3T Refresh Period (Tref)......................... 3120 DRAM Bank Interleave.......................... Enabled DQS Skew Control.............................. Auto DQS Skew Value................................ 0 DRAM Drive Strength........................... Normal 3 DRAM Data Drive Strength...................... Level 1 Max Async Latency............................. 8ns DRAM Response Time............................ Normal Read Preamble Time............................ 6ns IdleCycle Limit............................... 256 Dynamic Counter............................... Disable R/W Queue Bypass.............................. 16x Bypass Max.................................... 4x 32 Byte Granularity........................... Disable (4 Bursts)
  13. Yeah i'm playing around still. I just am not sure what needs changed. I am still relatively new to AMD. The only thing I have been doing is setting the divder so it would be close to 200 and keep the ram timings the same. So you think changing them would help eh? Also the PS was reconmended by Angry/Happy Games.
  14. Thraxz, when did you get yours. And my CCBWE 0608MPMW seems to be a crappy stepping for me to. All I really want is 2.5Ghz Stable. I am at 2.39 at 1.5V Vcore and it seems to be stable, at 2.5 or 2.6 I can boot into windows but i get errors off the bat with Prime. I am running a divder to keep my ram at around 200Mhz. Maybe you guys can post pointers. I think I am probably pretty much stuck with this chip no matter what, so I might as well make the most of it.
