  1. Problem I see is that churches and religions have used Jesus to further their own evil causes, instead of doing what he wanted, and furthering the human race.

    This is definitely 100% true.

As for the racism bit. Do you think it was right that some talk show host got canceled because he called a college basketball team "nappy-headed hos"?

  2. I believe you are remembering my post.

The point I was trying to make was that truth is not subjective, but it is not always black-and-white. I don't remember exactly what I said, but I believe I made some kind of comment to the effect of "let us ignore for a minute that there are a myriad of other forces which dictate drain spin, which are more powerful than the Coriolis effect".

It is true that the Coriolis effect has an effect on drain spin, but the force in actuality is infinitesimal compared to every other force acting upon it.

  3. The drive they sent me was indeed a different revision. The drive I had, and subsequently ordered, was a WD1200JD-00HBB0, and I made sure from the pictures on the auction that the drive was the exact same drive as the one I had. However, the one they sent was a WD1200JD-22HBB0. I have to assume that this is the reason why the replacement PCB could not access the drive heads correctly. The circuit boards are the same, but the chips (particularly the big WD chip) are not.

I've asked them to replace the drive they sent me with the drive I actually ordered. Fortunately, I have enough evidence and legal knowledge to give them hell if they try and jerk me around.

  4. I put it back in the freezer for the remainder of the hour. It's definitely frozen. The case is a little moist. No luck, though, it makes the same sound. I'm going to let it warm up and dry out, and see if it makes any difference.

  5. I left it in for about 20-30 minutes and then plugged the power in again. It might have done something, it's hard to tell. I'm not sure if it's restarting itself or not now. It spins up normally for a few seconds, and then I hear a few small clicks, followed by a larger clank, followed by a series of small clicks again. I don't think the drive stops spinning.

Could differing firmware in the drives be causing this problem?

  6. The new drive arrived today, and I swapped the circuit boards out. With the new board in, it did spin up, for a few seconds. Then it made a click-click-click-click and then restarted itself, repeating the click-click-click process. I found it interesting that the new board made it spin up but still did not work. For a comparison, the original board did not even spin up. I think there was a short, or perhaps the scratches on the board caused it to fail.

I'm not sure what to do now. I'm a little nervous about opening the drives up.

  7. Did anyone else notice that Religion has crept into the Political thread and that Politics has crept into the Religion thread?

I guess we really can't keep them apart.

Being a member of a forum that specializes in controversial topics, I can say with relative certainty that many controversial threads end up looking exactly the same after the first few pages. It's an interesting phenomenon.

  8. Darwin may end up being the next Galileo for all we know. Evolution and ID are not mutually exclusive. The only thing ID means is that there was a God behind it, and that can't be verified nor disproved by any scientific means.

I believe in separation of Church and State, but that doesn't mean anyone is in their right mind to say the president can't be religious. Religious freedom is the right of all citizens, and last I checked, the president is a citizen. In fact I'm quite sure he has to be a citizen.

  9. I hear noise from right and left but the left isn't as loud as the right as the left tends to talk in a calm voice rather than screaming and interrupting and touting fake facts or spun facts.

I agree that the examples you followed this with are sound, but I feel I must point something out.

Being a member of the left, you're not made to hear their bouts of "screaming and interrupting and touting fake facts or spun facts". The ones that do this only do it when faced with opposition, just like those on the right do. Left and right alike talk in calm voices until you say "you make a good point, but you forgot such-and-such". Then they fly off the handle.

Not being a member of the left or right gives an interesting perspective at times. :)

  10. I'm sure you were not referring to the Biblical reference, but just in case you were ... it is the LOVE of money that is the root of all evil.

Which would involve a good deal of perusing I would surmise.:)

Double correction: The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Meaning if you love money more than anything else (notice I didn't say "too much", there is no excess, only imbalance) it can lead to anything evil. But on the other hand, not all the evil in the world can be traced back to money.

The rich say that the best way to help the poor is to not be one of them. Sound advice.

there's really only one political party here now, and it is the corporation.

as bad or corrupt as unions can be, they definitely do protect the worker.

ask anyone who lives in a "right to work" state how wonderful wages are (sarcasm included in case ya missed it lol)

ps remember the nazis burned down the Reichstag so they could solidify and consolidate power. I'm not saying Bush was behind 9/11, but if the intelligence was there (and it is a proven fact that it was) and they let it happen...and in the years since it has all been "TERROR!!! TERROR!!! TERRORISTS ARE WINNING!!!! TERROR!!! ORANGE ALERT!!! TERROR!!!!"

I'm not a conspiracy nut (though I dig reading all about them), but I'm highly suspicious of our government in the years since 9/11. I don't trust anyone in politics anymore, and I believe just about all of them are extremely dangerous (especially the religious ones).

Very well said. This (among other things) is why I intend to work for myself. I'm not entrusting my lifeblood to those corporate jerks. And as far as the 9/11 thing goes, whether or not they had foreknowledge or whatever, it should still raise a red flag when it comes to be that a politician can say "nine eleven" and justify anything they want.
