    ?'s about prime95

Small FFTs FFT stands for Fast Fourier Transform and is an algorithm to compute discrete Fourier transforms for a sequence of n complex numbers (groan, more math – I’m outta here). The Small FFT test loads neatly into your L2 cache so it tests primarily your CPU. Ram will generally only be affected whenever more data has to be fetched into the L2 cache. The small FFT test is good if you’re just looking to give your CPU a good burn in or test your cooling sub-system out. This test will heat up your CPU, so watch the temps. In-Place Large FFTs Due to the nature of in-place FFTs, they do a lot of moving data and swapping to and from memory during the computations. So this test gives your CPU a work out along with some of your RAM. It will also heat up your CPU quickly so watch your temps closely. Blend Blend is my favorite since it works out everything. Blend will use small and large in-place FFTs so everything (CPU and RAM) gets a nice work out. Unless you use something like memtest to check out your memory, I recommend the Blend setting. Blend, like the other test, does indeed give your system a work out and the temps rise rapidly. Not to be repetitive, but keep an eye on your temps lest the toasty aroma of a burned CPU begins to fill your nostrils. http://www.overclock.net/faqs/18731-prime9...ty-testing.html DONT FORGET TO ENTER THE PASSWORD AND SELECT VALUE 10

    overclock

need to know if there will be a problem with a 1900xt with the Ultra D.

    overclock

How does the Ultra D overclock in comparison to the Expert? and does the Ultra D have sata 2? thank you

    overclock

Am I better with DDR 500 or DDR400 with better timings? RGone did not recomend the enermax liberty with the Expert, what about with the Ultra D?

    overclock

Nice one. thanks Also I have an Opty 9x multi, will there be enough FSB to push that cpu far enough, and I am thinking of the G.skill ram 2GB HZ to go with that, also "thinking" of 1900xt, any issues? many thanks

    cold boot reason?

Thinking of getting the Expert. Is the cold boot problem only a result of not having the right PSU or is it down to a multiple of reasons.
  8. mrtell

    cold boot reason?

Yep you are right, they do not sell those PSu's in the UK. I am willing to compromise though, maybe I should go for the NF4 SLI-DR or even the NF4 Ultra-D.

    cold boot reason?

!st choice Not that I like modular power supplies but is this suitable : Enermax 620W Liberty Modular Power Supply - ELT620AWT Dual 12v rails 2x22 Amp 12v combined 36 Amp. I read that dual 12v rails are a better design than quad rails ??? 600w Seasonic S12-600 , think I read of an issue with these PSU's though. 700W FSP Epsilon FX700GLN 660W Enermax EPS12V EG851AX-VH 600W FSP FX600-GLN Epsilon thank you .

    New System Build

I am Wanting to build a new system and would like some advice on components that will be compatible with each other. I already have a Coolermaster Stacker. and an Opteron 144 939 cpu. I am thinking of buying the DFI expert......good choice ? I am also thinking of buying G.Skill HZ 2gb kit.....Or maybe the mushkin red line...any opinions on any of them? Also I would like a suitable PSU with enough power to run a X1900XT......thinking of perhaps 700W or the 600W FSP Epsilon..........600w Seasonic S12-600.........660W Enermax EPS12V EG851AX-VH....or the 600W Enermax Noisetaker. Opinions please. And heat sink and fan suitible for that board. Thanks in advance.

    memory: why bother

SO buy DDR 500 and push as far as possible by using 1.1 and then if the cpu will go further begin to use dividers. Thanks
  13. I have read the sticky, not sure if i understand it though. It states that it does not matter weather you run the memory at 1.1 Or you use dividers as long as you get there. So why would people buy ddr 500 and try to get 1.1 when you may as well just get ddr 400 with better latency and use dividers. I am wanting to buy some memory and not sure which to buy. I have an opty 144 which as you know has a 9x multiplyer so i need to push the fsb quite far, was going to buy G.Skill 4000 2x1gb and run 1.1 as high as possible for gaming and the like, now not sure weather to buy ddr 400 with better timmings and use dividers. Just a thought, would ddr500 run better than ddr 400 both using dividers both at the same FSB but obviously divided differently?
  14. Which is the recomended mode of flashing bios DOS with floppy or WINFLASH in windows

    Memory

got myself an opty 144 and intend to overclock. Do i buy ddr 500 and run 1.1 or do i buy 3200 with better timmings and run asynchronously. will be using 2 GB kit thankyou
  16. mrtell

    Memory

Thanks, will look into that. I assume by your answer that you say 1.1 is best. also will they overclock much?
  17. I see you have an expert I will take your advice and stay clear of them i think. Not sure what to buy instead though, wanting good 2 gb overclocking ram thank you
  18. Its been mentioned the Ballistix 2gb dont have an issue with the expert, or should i say they run well on the expert, is that always or just with a lucky few. I want to buy a motherboard and reading the recomendations its been said the expert is no better than the DR for overclocking and the DR has a more mature BIOS, Thing is, is it better to buy the expert just so i can use the ballistix or go for the DR and buy some different ram. Not bought anything yet except an opty 144.
  19. Just wondering, HAS anyone ever had a good pair yet????????????
  20. TheyTell me something / they tell you something different. Do they not realize we all talk togeather, Does one hand not know what the other hand is doing or are they trying to misslead us??? I will post a copy of my E-mail from crucial "if i recieve one"
  21. e-mailed crucial in scotland to ask is there a problem with the batch or is there a problem with architecture with there being so many problems, reply was that they were unaware there was a problem with the ballistix 2 gb kit. I telephoned Crucial and spoke to somebody to ask the same question, she also said there was not a problem and told me because it was high performance ram it was difficult to set up and the people having problems just did not know what they were doing! She then suggested that with this ram being difficult to set up i should perhaps consider Crucials other range, I was not at all happy with that reply so I e-mailed the european general manager to complain, I pointed her to this link and pointed out that the people with the complaints certainly do know what they are doing, she apologized, said she would retrain the person at crucial in scotland and said an expert would be in touch with me. the "expert" telephoned me to say they had followed this link and had been in touch with Crucial in America who had also then been in touch with DFI to find out if it is only a problem with DFI boards, he said he would get back to me at ther end of the week to advice weather or not there was a problem with the DFI boards and I assume weather there was a problem with the ram.

    Opteron Vs X2

got myself an opty 144 1.8gh know basic overclocking but not much, lowered the LTD and raised the front side bus and now that opti 1.8 runs at 2.6 prime stable with no extra voltages anyware and just standard ram, temps = 49 when usuing prime and when idol = 28. Wait till i know my stuff with a better board and ram Opteron 144 939 great cpu

    motherboards ???

I am new to DFI and am wanting to build a system based on the DFI motherboard. Problem is I dont know the best motherboard to use, i intend to overclock, and the cost is not an issue, please help

    motherboards ???

Thank you for the advice, i will follow the link. According to Trebaruna there is no need to have any new posting, just search all of the time!Nice. DFI has a good rep has having the best user forum in the hardware world, Trebaruna does not help that rep! I am new to this forum, still finding my way around so all the help i can get is good. thank you
