  1. One week later now, and I haven't had troubles anymore. I did not flash the bios and I have not changed any settings after my last post here. I'm happy to not have anymore troubles, but at the same time I'm not happy since I don't know what caused the troubles. So, if the issues might come back and I don't know what to do then. But for now I'm just happy. Thanks to everybody who pesponded!

  3. Ok: I changed CPU VID Startup value to 1.4V, since the systeem wouldn't boot with higer ram speeds of lower timings. So, with that raised and mem set to 166MHz the systeem was able to boot @ 2792MHz, with memory @ 253MHz @ 3-4-4-7! Running dual Prime now for some time, looks ok so far. Only thing I don't get: I thought I just changed the startup vcore, but now in Windows I see the vcore is 1.4 in general. That doens't look like the explaining of the features over here.

  5. Having troubles atm with my floppy. I'll try that after the weekend. Is there something in de timings or settings I've posted so far what can explain the lower ram speeds and higher timings?

  8. My Opteron with stepping CCBBE 0610DPMW seems to be a nice one. 2.7GHz @ tosck volt prime stable for 13+ hours. For this I use the XP-120. The only trouble is my ram. I have 2GB G.Skill DDR500 that can do 260MHz @ 3-4-3-6-1 (stock DDR500 HZ, 3-4-4-8-1). Now I have to put it down to 143MHz, resulting in a poor 208MHz @ 3-3-3-8. Should I raise the vcore, is the mem controller weak, is it something else? Is it something with the timings? Please help, cause this Opty is a rocker! Edit: if the ram speed is too high or the timings are too tight, there's a bsod: machine check exception 0x0000009C.   9. Right now I'm running N4D623-1 bios. Can someone tell if I need to update my bios for dual-core support?
  10. People, I wish to put a X2 cpu on my SLI-D mainboard. But my PSU doesn't have a 8 pins connector. Is it still possible to use a X2 cpu? Or do I need a new PSU for this? Thanx.
  11. First I let the 7800GT run on stock speeds (445-1070MHz). So far, this already seems to give no problems anymore. When I started overclocking this card months ago, I could easily reach 480MHz+ core. Now artefacts start already @ 470MHz. Is the card slowly going to collapse? What I find strange though, is that 3 hours of ATITool scanning for artefacts doesn't give any problems @ 465-1225MHz.
  12. 32A @ 12V should be enough I believe. I'll set all to default settings and see what iyt does. But I don't really understand why I should do this, since the stability test were pretty much ok. Ide drivers are uninstalled, with them I couldn't even boot. Can try mem divider, but 12+ hours memtest would be enough for stability, right. No Dcom errors in the event log. Idle cycle limit is set to 256clks. Later on I'll try 128, although 256 is used in most reviews.
  13. I have one hard disk (Hitachi 7k250), one cd-rom and one dvd burner. nVidia firewall is not installed and was never installed. Problems started though with the system running for months without issues. Driver is a whql driver, see here.
  14. Since three weeks my systeem is suffering from freezes and bsod's. Mostly the freezes came during games, but as well while surfing on the net. Last week I reinstalled Windows and hoped that that would solve things. It did not. Since last week I have as well during The Godfather and Oblivion BSoD's or sudden artefacts. The BSoD's were Page fault in none paged area and IRQL less or equal. What I've tried so far: I've run 18 hours of Prime for stability. I've run memtest for 12 hours. I've run ATITool for three hours. Hitachi diagnostic tool, advanced testing. Non of that gave an error. Right now I'm using Forceware 81.98. Other versions didn't help stopping the BSoD's. nForce 6.82 I use as well. I don't know what to do, but think that the mainboard is causing the trouble. Anybody know what I can do to find out what's causing these issues?

  16. KimTjik: thanks for the input. But I'll stay for now with this videocard and PSU. What component do you think is worth it to upgrade? From what upgrade would I notice some speedgain?
  17. So, my 32A won't be enouugh? I'm not going to buy a new PSU. Other card perhaps.
  18. 700W is way too much. According to this review, 2x7800GT would need about 22A @ 12V. According to this information from SLIzone, my rig would need between 26A and 30A @ 12V. My Noisetaker can give 32A @ 12V. I guess it would just fit.
  19. I know this PS is not in de list of recommended SLI PSU's, but still i wonder if it would be able to handle two 7800GT's. Does anybody have any idea?
  20. No, that doesn't work either. I came till 2700MHz with 1.73V and LDT 0.1V higher and set to 4. That;s too much of a voltage raise for so little speedgain. But thanks anyway for thinking with me!
  21. When overclocking the cpu, the memory was scaled lower so it couldn't be a problem. LDT is auto, I've tried as well 2 and 3. I've tried already with a multiplier of 9, but that didn't get me even near 2600MHz. The limit of my chip i guess than?
