  1. until i can test with a new motherboard tomorrow, i'm gonna leave it until i am sure what device is causing the problems. If the motherboard is indeed a problem, then i would be shipping the new one from dfi out, when i obtain it. will edit after results of tommorow.
  2. feel free to offer guys, these prices aren't totally firm.
  3. im gonna buy a new board in the meantime to test the cpu i have been testing with a 3700+ i have around. im getting 3leds on boot for both proccessors regardless of cmos clears. wont post. Unless has anything else to try, ill be rmaing the board..
  4. well now its being a prick and no even posting for me, 4 red leds. That points to cpu? I am at a loss to say the least. How do we continue troubleshooting? I left the cmos on clear for a whole day, still 4 red leds.
  5. ill check out the psu, ill grab a multimeter fron canadait tire, on one of my days off this week.
  6. clear the cmos for 10 minutes, boots up with the sound card and net working.. im really suspecting the mobo or something here.. also noticing with speed fan that my chipset is 50C while everything else is 24-25 idle. how hot should it be running?
  7. well got everything up and going on one stick of ram after the cmos cleared for 10mins. installed all of my drivers, installed creative xf-i and dlink wireless. and everything is working good. install video drivers, reboot, and computer works fine, but dlink card is gone from iqrs in post, the creative software doesnt read the card, etc, the two pci devices have vanished. everything else is fine. get a popup for found new hardware, when i click cancel it pops right up, i have to click cancel 15x before it goes away. anyone have any idea?
  8. kind of hard to do when windows locks up a minute after i get into it. it is 8hours memtest stable with these timings.
  9. Welcome to the next installment of our show folks. i have installed the drivers and clean format of windows. heres a point form of the problems still occurring - my pc locks up 30 seconds after booting into windows. mouse just sticks, no errors, no flashing, noises. - I am starting to wonder if its the hd, I cant think of anything else. - 1 out of every 7 or 8 boots the computer wont post, and will hang at 4red leds. a poweroff/on fixes that, and it boots. - Also my standby led is constantly on, doesnt turn itself off. - pcislot1 doesnt seem to be working, i had a xfi card in their, installed drivers nothing, moved it to pci3, and my windows found new hardware message popped up. The hd is under warranty still, so i can RMA that if need be, but before i do that i want to make sure that its the problem. here are my timings Genie BIOS Settings: FSB Bus Frequency............................. - 200 LDT/FSB Frequency Ratio....................... - AUTO CPU/FSB Frequency Ratio....................... - Auto PCI eXpress Frequency......................... - 100Mhz CPU VID StartUp Value......................... - 1.550v CPU VID Control............................... - 1.200v CPU VID Special Control....................... - Above VID * 109.6% LDT Voltage Control........................... - 1.20v Chip Set Voltage Control...................... - 1.52v DRAM Voltage Control.......................... - 2.8v DRAM Configuration Settings: DRAM Frequency Set............................ - 200=RAM/FSB:01/01 Command Per Clock (CPC)....................... - Auto CAS Latency Control (Tcl)..................... - Auto RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd)..................... - Auto Min RAS# active time (Tras)................... - Auto Row precharge time (Trp)...................... - Auto Row Cycle time (Trc).......................... - 07 Bus Clocks Row refresh cyc time (Trfc)................... - 17 Bus Clocks Row to Row delay (Trrd)....................... - 03 Bus Clocks Write recovery time (Twr)..................... - 03 Bus Clocks Write to Read delay (Twtr).................... - 02 Bus Clocks Read to Write delay (Trwt).................... - 03 Bus Clocks Refresh Period (Tref)......................... - 3120 Cycles DRAM Bank Interleave.......................... - Enabled DQS Skew Control.............................. - Auto DQS Skew Value................................ - 0 DRAM Drive Strength........................... - Auto DRAM Data Drive Strength...................... - Auto Max Async Latency............................. - Auto DRAM Response Time............................ - Fast Read Preamble Time............................ - Auto IdleCycle Limit............................... - 256 Cycles Dynamic Counter............................... - Disable R/W Queue Bypass.............................. - 16 x Bypass Max.................................... - 07 x 32 Byte Granularity........................... - Disable(4 Bursts)
  10. Ram was owned for a year and processor i have had for 6 months. Everything works well, I have been offered a secondhand c2d setup and a price i cant say no to, so this stuff hits the block. Im really not sure what to price things at, so im just going to put each at 125 plus your shipping costs. I live in toronto, canada. If this is too much or too little please tell me! the ram is selling for 150 on ebay, i am watching a few links to verify what i should be selling at. Heres the details -------------------------------- Opteron 165 (no sure on stepping, will check if there is interest shown) - 125 obo highest o/c ive had it to is 2.1. (more than capable of 2.6+, i havent even tried to oc it.) Just havent found the time to overclock. -------------------------------- Corsair CMX1024-3200c2 2x1024 black sticks. 125 obo corsair makes amazing ram. lifetime warranty etc. -------------------------------- Please pm me questions/offers guys. thanks! Andrew
  11. will do unknown, ill post when i get home. no random lockups during post no, all windows problesm at this point.
  12. Well guys thought we had it solved. All the options in the Cmos are the ones from the SSDB from Travis. Changed the battery, did the buildup and memtested for 8.5 hours. Everything was good, played on the machine for 5 hours last night, everything worked no problems. Left it on overnight, and woke up to the same BSOD again. Heres a few screenshots of my Computer management: This is the new dvd drive i have installed. I had the same errors with my old one. I thought that might be the problem, so i just bought a new one and installed it. Do i need drivers for a SATA dvd drive? or my SATA HD? I think ive narrowed it down to either SATA drivers, OR an IRQ problem with the motherboard. When the machine boots up, sometimes i still see the network controller (pci) not there, and the lan eth controller will show up, but if i shut it down immediately, i will see both of them come up.
  13. are the drivers not available online somewhere?
  14. wow dude thanks +5 ill try it out and inform you of the results. ***update*** Everything is going good, all settings are matching Travis' from the ssdb for my board and my ram. Memtest is now running. new cmos battery installed. Will update when i get up. gotta love 5pm-7am shifts.....
  15. im not familar with irq issues. fixable via the bios or a problem?
  16. by putting correct volts for the ram, are you saying if i have changed them? I have loaded the defauts for the motherboard. memory is stable, tested overnight no errors. ram is in orange slots. anyone?
  17. memtest is 6.5 hours stable with no errors I have cleared the cmos (do you mean a long clear?) i havent touched the ram volts, and the ram is in the orange slots.
  18. memtest results were good over an hour and a half, ill run it for 6-8hours tonight when i get home and inform you guys of the results.
  19. figured it was the network card, so i bought a new one to test in its place. If i run the pc with no pci card it never has any trouble, where when i have a network card installed it bsods on me every time, but in a random amount of minutes. it is doing it with the new wifi card as well, and if noone else has any ideas, im going to rma the board anyone know the process or the warranty period on the experts?
