  1. Anyone know of any other games i could run or bench with ingame testing?
  2. i say get the 7950Gt but its out of ur price range at $299 but it has 512mb of RAM and LOTS of new games are starting to need more memory thats why i'm gonna upgrade to atleast 2x7950gts or a 7950GX2
  3. Have you even READ this thread? I dropped it down 1 Ghz and made very little difference at high resolutions. So in other words if i had like all these benches state that even though the RAM and CPU are dropped down way slower it made not much of a difference so a faster CPU is not going to really do anything maybe a minamal gain as i have been trying to show by doing this.
  4. Its weird that the more details and settings i raise on both of the setup test the closer they get to each other and i AM using the same exact settings for every set of benches i do no changes period and i'm using the 92.91 beta drivers which run very well. i am using a samsung 204B monitor which was a freaken great del for like $350 bucks
  5. Well I was kinda into conroe until i started testing and benching myself to see if it would really make a difference. But as you can see i don't have a Conroe but i have a opty oc to 2.88Ghz. I ran Company of heroe's ingame benchmark at 1600x1200 but with different clocked speeds. Earlier i had encoded a movie at 2.88Ghz and it sook 24 mins and then i clocked it back to the stock 1.8Ghz and it would take 54mins to encode with nero 7 ultra. This is a huge difference thats for sure but i wanted to see if it made a difference in REAL game benching not any 3dmark which are all CPU limited because the run a 1280x1024 and under. These are the clock speeds and RAM speeds i ran at when it was at 1.8Ghz along with the RAM speed These are the clock speeds and RAM speeds at 2.8Ghz For some reason i couldn't make it show all pix so i just added links to the first two tests. 1st test i ran at 1280x1024 with the processor at 1.8Ghz wiht same settings and got this http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h206/hulk3403/1-1.jpg 2nd test i ran at 1280x1024 but with the CPU at 2.88Ghz http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h206/hulk3403/2-1.jpg 3rd test i ran at 1600x1200 with the CPU clocked at 1.8Ghz most setting up and i used the same for the 2nd run. 4th test i ran was with everything exactly the same but at 2.88Ghz Here i ran the Prey time Demo 1.8Ghz with RAM at 200Mhz effectoively 400Mhz i think The benchmark started at 9/17/2006 12:58:57 AM System Information Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP System memory: 2.0 GB CPU: Dual Core AMD Opteron Processor 165 CPU speed: 1800 MHz Sound system: : NVIDIA® nForce Audio VGA Information Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT Memory: 256.0 MB Current GPU speed: 490 MHz Current memory speed: 1300 MHz Driver version: 6.14.0010.9291 (English) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resolution: 1280×1024 Demo: guru3d-6.demo Shader Detail: Highest Aspect Ratio: [4:3] Antialiasing: 4× Anisotropic filtering: 16× Graphics BOOST: disabled Score = 104.1 FPS CPU at 2.88Ghz ram at 531Mhz effectively The benchmark started at 9/17/2006 1:03:26 AM System Information Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP System memory: 2.0 GB CPU: Dual Core AMD Opteron Processor 165 CPU speed: 2880 MHz Sound system: : NVIDIA® nForce Audio VGA Information Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT Memory: 256.0 MB Current GPU speed: 490 MHz Current memory speed: 1300 MHz Driver version: 6.14.0010.9291 (English) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resolution: 1280×1024 Demo: guru3d-6.demo Shader Detail: Highest Aspect Ratio: [4:3] Antialiasing: 4× Anisotropic filtering: 16× Graphics BOOST: disabled Score = 110.0 FPS 1st test at 1600x1200 with CPU at 1.8Ghz and RAM at 200Mhz 400Mhz effectively The benchmark started at 9/17/2006 1:00:07 AM System Information Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP System memory: 2.0 GB CPU: Dual Core AMD Opteron Processor 165 CPU speed: 1800 MHz Sound system: : NVIDIA® nForce Audio VGA Information Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT Memory: 256.0 MB Current GPU speed: 490 MHz Current memory speed: 1300 MHz Driver version: 6.14.0010.9291 (English) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resolution: 1600×1200 Demo: guru3d-6.demo Shader Detail: Highest Aspect Ratio: [4:3] Antialiasing: 4× Anisotropic filtering: 16× Graphics BOOST: disabled Score = 85.4 FPS CPu at 2.88Ghz ram at 531Mhz effectively The benchmark started at 9/17/2006 1:04:30 AM System Information Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP System memory: 2.0 GB CPU: Dual Core AMD Opteron Processor 165 CPU speed: 2880 MHz Sound system: : NVIDIA® nForce Audio VGA Information Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT Memory: 256.0 MB Current GPU speed: 490 MHz Current memory speed: 1300 MHz Driver version: 6.14.0010.9291 (English) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resolution: 1600×1200 Demo: guru3d-6.demo Shader Detail: Highest Aspect Ratio: [4:3] Antialiasing: 4× Anisotropic filtering: 16× Graphics BOOST: disabled Score = 89.2 FPS As you can see here the margin isn't that much and i did some other testing with this prey bench and it seems that the more eye-candy i turn up the closer the margin becomes. Ok now i ran the FEAR ingame demo with NO patches installed 1st i ran it at 1.8Ghz with RAM at 400Mhz at 1280x960 ingame setting with AA 4x and AF 16x 2nd run at 2.88Ghz with RAM at 531Mhz at 1280x960 ingame setting with AA 4x and AF 16x 3rd run It was at 1.8Ghz RAM at 400Mhz at 1600x1200 ingame settings with AA 4x and AF 16x 4th run it was at 2.88Ghz with RAM at 531Mhz at 1600x1200 ingame settings with AA 4x and AF 16X Clearly you can tell that a lower resolutions the clockspeed makes a hell of a difference you guys be the judge of my findings i will try to bench more games and update. I also found this http://www.guru3d.com/article/processor/370/7/ and here it tests the conroe vs the fx-62 and as you can see the higer the resolution the closer the FX-62 gets to the conroe. I think the conroe is not reall that much faster for gaming at higher resolutions. But hey then someone is gonna say well i run my screen at 1280x1024 and it WILL make a difference there but think about it if you wanted to ugrade to conroe you need a new processor of course, new MB and new ram and that will be around a good 800 bucks more or less. If ur a real gamer wouldn't you rather upgrade your monitor and video card for those 800 bucks and game better and way nicer. I didn't know where to post this so i went to the Off topic.

    Free games

Found this site while on Digg.com its a list of a bunch off free games enjoy.http://www.simsarchive.jumbahost.com/freegames3.php
  7. Oh yeah i am all the new games need more texture memory and I don't want lag i hate lag so the 1st thing i thought when i saw it lag it was newegg.com lol. I'm almost %100 sure ima get somethign new but i'm not sure i was looking at those 7950gts u adressed earlier and they seem pretty good for their price but i'm not sure if it would be worth it to get the 7900gtx cus i AM going to either get 2 new cards with atleast 512mb of RAM or the 7950Gx2 and i run my monitor at 1600x1200 and hopefully i can crank everything full blast so ites either 2x7950gts, 2x7900GTX or the 7950Gx2 any advice?
  8. i'm using the 92.91 drivers and at 1st this thing ran like at 20FPS but then i found out that with a patch it fixed some SLI problem went up to 45 and then i took off post processing and went up to 90+FPS and then i upped everything else to max except for texture and it stays at 70+ average
  9. What scores do you get when you run the ingame benchmark? Plus i'm running mine at 1600x1200 with everything maxed out except the texture i have that at high and i have post processing off and i'm averaging 73.5 FPS but it gets crazy ingame when i zoom in to see everything up front
  10. Ok well i was looking around and i found this info. Two separate tests one with the Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 and the other with the AMD Athlon 64 FX-57. Look at the 7900GTX in this case on the pics and you decide if the CPU makes a difference at higher resolutions. This one was taken from http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2833&p=7 Fear at 1600x1200 with C2D extreme x6800 This is FEAR with the same settings and same resolution but with the FX-57 this one was taken from http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/326/18/ i'm not jumping to any conclusion but cleary that there shows its not much a difference either just want to help.
  11. Happy i was wondering if your gonna be running any game benches like at 1600x1200 or higher with that new conroe and comparing to any AMD you might have to see how much the conroe makes a difference at higher resolutions cus from what i've read is that the higher the resolution the less the CPU works and the graphics cards take over. Maybe to see if the conroe REALLY makes a difference at high res cus most benchmarks are done at 1280x1024 or lower. Thanks for any info
  12. Well the thing that kills my cards is my lack of Texture memory which in the 7950GX2 has 512x2 and mine is 256x2. 2 of my friend have 512mb cards and there setups run much smoother than mine. So my cards might be as fast as a 7950Gx2 in lower resolutions and no eye candy but i run at 1600x1200 and i NEED everything to look awesome or else i feel cheap so when i play thios game its cheap for me cus i'm lagging and kinda studdering. What would be better 2x7950Gts that are 512mb a piece and equal a total of $600 or a 7950Gx2 which is $500 but is clocked slower? Oh yea and as to wait for DX10 ima get EVGA cards so i can make use of their step-up program so if they come out in 3 months then i'll upgrade and if not then i'm still gonna be happy cus i don't want to wait 4mnths or more to play todays games like Happy_Games stated. Cus when they come out everyone is gonna be saying to wait til they get cheaper and then wait 4 a newer card its gonna be the same ole thing just different time
  13. Wooo hooo i found a fix it turns out that there was a bug and SLI wasn't working properly with this game i installed the game patch and my FPS at the exact same settings went up from 25FPS to 95 FPS at 1600x1200 with some things turned down but yeah i think i'm still gonna get the 7950Gx2 just to upgrade so if someone can tell me if it will run with my current hardware
  14. mine does that also when i have it connected with the DVi i think it loses frequency or something like that then works when starting windows
  15. Oh yeah i have turned it down and runs great if i lower the settings down it runs awesome but i'm more of an eye-candy person i NEED to have everyhting cranked up to the max thats what does it for me. But i was wondering if the 7950GX2 will work on my setup with this board and everything in my sig i know my cards run about as fast but the extra texture memory will make things smoother and will it run better since i run a 1600x1200 all the time. Any advice?
  16. Oh yeah and will this card run ok on my setup? I'm leaning twoards the EVGA model
  17. yeah they are even faster than a 7950gx2 but What i want is texture memory so i can run games all high and these 2 gts can't keep up with a 7900gtx texture wise even though its 256x2 which is 512mb or ram its just not as fast so when i set texture to high on games IE like GRAW and Company of heroes my cards slow down drastically
  18. Just got company of heroes and it looks insane compared to any other RTS game out there but it kills my video cards like bad brings them down to like 10FPS which is unplayble and i think its the texture memory deal cus my friend has a 7900GTX and his plays it with everything max to the top and averages at around 50FPS which is way better than mine. Thats that my setup creams him in every game that we got and bad also. I wanted to upgrade from these 2 7800gts to something like the 7950GX2 cus it has like 512mbx2 and i want to be able to run everything up and at 1600x1200 what do you guys think?
  19. Oh Yeah Dave I Think Ur Sig Is Gone
  20. DAMN THAT SUX. THANX alot for informing me that way i won't be looking around for nothing thanks again
  21. Well i happen to have gotten lucky lately cus a friend of mine is gonna donate a conroe, MB, memory and PS to me if i just give him my CPU, MB, memory and PSU. I am the luckies mofo ever. Well i was looking into a getiing a new conroe rig but i don't know where to start i'm lost. I NEED it to be SLI capable i need advice for the RAM, Power supply, and the last of al the motherboard. When is DFI's board coming out or is it already out i know the infinity is out but is it SLI capable? I'm think i'm gonna get the E6600 cpu but i'm not sure about anything else any help would be greatly appreciated thank you P.S. I wanna overclock the crap out of this
  22. I was wondering if there is any way to edit the video setting to allow a different resolution like 1440x900 for a widescreen. I've been looking everywhere 4 an answer but i can't find one thanks
