  1. If you search the forum, you'll find a lot of information on this subject. Getting four sticks to run is problematic at best, a nightmare at worst. If all four sticks are not identical, then you have all sorts of timing issues that you have to solve. Even if the four sticks are the same brand, they can be different revisions. This can also lead to problems. Also, unless you are running Win x64, your system will not see all 4GB. WinXP can only recognize 3GB. Search the forum and you will get a lot of recommendations on what to try.
  2. You can't run four sticks at 1T. Set Command Rate to 2T and loosen your timings. Once you have passed Memtest, then you can start tightening-up your timings. Also, get your signature put together per the rules.
  3. The voltage rails on the Ultra X-Connect are not stable enough for a DFI board. I started having problems with mine the moment I first turned on the computer. I went out and got the one in my sig and haven't had a problem since. On any DFI board, the PSU is one area you do not want to go cheap on. It will only give you headaches.
  4. I have the three SATA drives in my sig and they all support SMART. I read the temps with MBM5. The RAID set-up may be causing your problems. Try MBM5 and see if it will read your temps. Also, the second boot screen will say if SMART is enabled for each HDD. If the message doesn't show, then the BIOS isn't seeing the HDD's as SMART capable.

  9. Upgrade to the latest BIOS and install the 91.37 driver.
  10. People have reported varies problems with the 91.31 drivers. Do a search on the video forum to find out what issues were cropping up. I personally never had any problems with them, but now use the 91.33 beta. Many of the 84 series drivers are very stable, and I actually get better 3DMark scores with them. What is best for your rig might not be the best for someone else. Try a few of them and see which one you like for what you need. You can get any of the drivers from Guru3D. Always remember to completely remove the old driver before installing a new driver.
  11. As soon as AM2 was announced, it was obvious that S939 was a lame duck. The sooner they free-up the production capacity for other lines, the better for AMD. You should have no problem finding someone getting rid of their X2's in the For Sale or Trade forum. Many Streeter's will move to AM2 once the DFI mobo's are released.
  12. I'd probably use phrases like; HDD recovery, drive recovery, disk failure recovery, and variations on these.
  13. The nVidia controlled sata ports (1-4) are SATA II compliant. The Sil 3114 ports (5-8) are SATA I compliant. As far as the best HDD's to go with, WD Raptors if you have the money. Otherwise, Seagate, or Western Digital will work just fine.
  14. SLI-D is the basic DFI sli mobo. It is identical to the Ultra-D, with the sli chipset. SLI-DR is the SLI-D with a Silicon Image Sil 3114 Raid controller. This gives you 4 additional SATA connections, but only rated at sata 1.5 SLI-DR Expert has a different layout and removes the sli jumpers. You now select sli in the BIOS. This is a more tempermental board and requires a fair bit of tweaking to get working. Which one to get depends on what you need. If you like to get up close and personal with your BIOS, then get the Expert. If you don't want to spend a lot of time tweaking to get your rig working,, and you need the additional RAID controller, then go with the SLI-DR. If all you want is the ability to run SLI, then go with the SLI-D. Regardless of which one you select, you are going to need high quality memory and PSU. Checkout the stickies in the Recommendations forum for memory and PSU's. Make sure you get something from those lists. It will save you a lot of problems. As always post your questions here.   15. If you haven't touched the six SLI jumpers since taking the mobo out of the box, then you are properly configured (jumpers cover pins 1-2). Put the video card in the top PEG slot. Nvidia maintains a list on their site of approved mobo's for the 7950. The LanParty series is not yet on that list. However, you will find lots of people that have the card installed and working.
