  1. I know it's been a long time since you posted this. ANd, I'm not even finished reading the entire thread yet. This one's for you MassiveOverkill... or anyone else, like me who thinks this case is pretty cool. Except for the flimsy handle, but I guess I could live with that.... here: http://www.voyeurmods.com/index.php?action...d=2&prevstart=0 later, breezyjr
  2. Wow, I forgot about this thread. I have a 2Gb set of Balistix tracers. Everything was fine for quite awhile, then like a bunch of others here, started getting random reboots, BSOD, and lockups. I thougt it was everything else but the memory. Then one night, 'puter wouldn't post. I just sat there for 30 minutes or so, just kinda... spacing out. Then I thought, what the hell, let me throw my Corsair stick in here and see what happens. Ding ding ding... worked perfectly. D'oh thought I wasn't going to have a problem since I had the tracers, and the threads I read folks had just the regular Ballistix. So, now what? Anyone know how long I can RMA to newegg? or, do I need to contact Crucial myself? Gonna do a quick search of this thread after I post, and also check Newegg's policy, but if someone knows which is better (newegg or crucial for RMA) could you let me know. I think I just might go with the OCZ PC4000 2 Gb set. Many people here seem to love OCZ. Time to make a trip back over to the Memory advice thread.... heh Thanks, Breezyjr
  3. I was thinking the same thing.... Great minds think alike I guess... heh Luckily since I turned the 12 Rail back up, and upped the Vcore a notch, things have been runing smoothly. What I can't figure out for the life of me, was the mysterious, middle of the night freeze ups. This was prior to my touching the PSU. Hmm... I don't know. If it happens again. I guess I'll 1) run memtest. 2) replace the soundcard 3) replace the PSU. sound good? Breezyjr
  4. Hey everyone. I'm wondering if anyone here has had a problem with their OCZ PSUs. Since I've installed mine, and I can't quite remember the timeline... but I've been getting random Stop errors, BSODs, and shut downs. Sometimes I'd wake in the morning and find the 'puter froze. I KNOW it's not a heat issue. I have a H20 Setup, and my temps for "everything" never rise above 45degrees, unless I'm gaming, and then sometimes the PWMIC will get around 60, but it always cool down rather quickly. I intially thought it might be my OC, but I set everything back to stock, and still had the problem. First it was the OC opteron, I just took that out, and replaced it with my naked X2 4800. Like I said, first OC, the reset to defaults. At one point, I couldn't completely boot into windows. I upped the vCore a hair, and since, everything has been working well. I had also made one other adjustment. I turned the 12V rail down on the PSU, cause I was getting readings around 12.5-12.6 so I dialed it down to an "almost" even 12V. But, after these problems started, I turned it back to it's regular spot, so it's reading 12.5-12.6 again. Knock on wood, but since I've made those changes, everything has been well. But, as it turns out, I haven't gamed as much either. So, after thinking of a bunch of things, it seems the PSU is a good point to start for a problem. I did also noticed a few spots of water on my sound card, but nothing terrible. Literally, a couple drops look like they leaked on the card. So I hoep I covered everything. Any help, ideas, thoughts, whatever to help me figure out the problem. See sig for specs. CPU is the X2 4800 currently running stock + 1.4Vcore. Thanks, Breezyjr
  5. I've been looking for a u-ATX board for awhile now. Can't seem to find a consensus on which one is any good. I know if DFI made one, I'd buy in a sec. Right now, my desktop probably weighes in at 75+ Pounds so I go no where with that thing. So I NEED a u-ATX board so I can build my HTPC, File sever, LAN rig. Just DO it.... breezyjr
  6. Michigan Here.. Detroit area... Go... Lions??!!?? huh? Go Joey, wait I mean, Jeff, wait no, I mean Dan O, Ahh forget it, go Quarterback! Home of probably three of the best receivers in the NFL, but, so far they can't catch anything.... ooops I'm going off on a tangant.. see what happens when I mention the Lions.... geeze.... give a guy a break.... breezyjr
  7. Why would you switch from the OCZ 600W to the PC P&C 850? If I remember correctly the PC P&C is really just the 850 that can hit a peak of 1kW.... Still seams like a strange upgrade....... breezyjr
  8. I knew that.... I was just testing you. Congrats you passed...heh  breezyjr
  9. I was thinkin... Since games like that now basically require 2gigs, is having a total of 4gigs so bad? Would it have an affect/effect (can never remember which one to use  ) on o/c the RAM? Although, if I remember correctly, I have mine set with a divider so it runs at or near its rated 250Mhz. I just think having 4 sticks of the ballistix Tracers in my rig, with a side window, would look cool.... hehe, I'd never play anything, I'd just run Prime95 and stare at the pretty lights all the time... hehe  :shake: Later, breezyjr
  10. Yes I played BF2 for 4 hours or so without a problem. But, this is what I did this weekend. Had it up to 300x10 saturday night, played BF2 for 4 hours or so. Went to bed and turned Prime95 on. In the morning, I saw it had failed after 2.5 hours. So I turned the FSB down to 290, and ran prime95 again. This time, ran for 10+ hours without errors. But, right now I have the FSB set at 300 in the BIOS, as so far it's working. I'll work on getting it stable. Just remembered I set Prime95 to run last night. Just checked it. At 300x10 it failed again, only this time, after only 44minutes. I'd really like it to be toaster perfect at the 3Ghz, as that was my goal from the beginning. So, at this point, do anyone see anything in my BIOS settings I can change to make it more stable? Right now, I think the Vcore is at 1.54v. If I've read correctly around here, I don't really need to give it anymore vCore. Everything I've read, the consensus seems to be more vCore in this Opty doesn't help. But, so far in my testing, where I've had the vCore up to 1.6 or so, it runs fine, but doesn't give me anymore OC then say, the 1.45 + 109.6% I think I'm starting to get myself confused. I think I need to start things over again. Just realized that the BIOS settings I have listed a few posts back, is mostly correct, I have changed the FSB around for testing in Prime95. Right now, I'm on my laptop. So, I'll get this set up on the desktop, and confirm the settings I have at this very moment, and post the results. Just to be sure I'm giving the right info. My oh my I ramble in the mornings. Thanks, Breezyjr
  11. Funny, I didn't think it was harsh at all. To me, you just wanted more info. Well, I'm not at noob when it comes to computers, built plenty of them. Heck, I was even brave enough to strip my opty free of its IHS. Which is why I think the temps may not be so far off. From everything I've read, people were getting 5-7C cooler on air, I only thought it fair with the H2o setup, that 10C was not out of the question. But, after running Prime95 at the 300x10 I got an error after 2.5 hours. at 290x10 it ran for 10+hours without an error. So, now I just want to be rock solid toaster perfect at 3Ghz. Whether that be 300x10, or some other multi. As far as posting screenies. Do I need an image hosting service? or can I just u/l the 800x600 pic itself? I've never worked with screen shots before. In fact, I just found out the other day, that when you hit print screen, you have to copy into another program to view it. I just thought it saved a .bmp somewhere on the 'puter. So, it seems most people around here are using imageshack, so I'll try that and see what happens. So, I think I'll skip the greediness, and be happy with 3Ghz. But, I still need the gurus help at making it Prime stable. Thanks in advance, Breezyjr
  12. Ok, I'll work on that and post them later. breezyjr
  13. Just had the same error. Wish I could help you out, but looking for the same answer. Stopped after 2 hours and 30 some minutes. breezyjr
  14. Great but is there anything I can change to get more? More vCore.... What I've read, seems these don't like too much of it. Memory timings? Little help. This wasn't so much of a "hey look what I did post" but, "hey, got this far, who wants to help get more?" post. thanks in advance.
  15. So i've hit 3Ghz 2hours prime 95 stable... I know I need more to be official... But running two hours I think is a good start. So now i've hit 3Ghz, and I want more cause my temps after 2 hrs were 32-33C So it seems to more i can go. I can get the FSB up to 320 and super Pi, but error in Prime 95 after a few seconds. Prime 95 will run at FSB 305. I know this chip has some more in it. I'm starting to get greedy. Said I'd be happy with 3Ghz, but now I want more... more... more.....more....POWER..hehe Anway. I've been reading the forum for approx 3-4 weeks now. learned a bunch of stuff, but still a newb. Now looking for a little help from all the gurus out there.... Thanks, breezyjr
