  1. yeah I did... I just have to wait til monday to contact newegg Thanks everyone for helping.
  2. yeah, you're right man... Freaking A, I did what you recommended and one stick had all the errors and other passes all of it. I guess I have to RMA it then? I bought the ram from Newegg, and unfortunately (stupid me) i had threw away the receipt, anyway I can still be able to RMA it ? I can still see the invoice information from newegg on the other though...
  3. The system has been running fine for months with stock settings... recently, I've been experiencing random restarts and I'm pretty sure it's not my PSU. I had another restart yesterday and now every files that I d/led from newsgroup and try to quickpar it to merge and repair have all failed at the verification stage noting "Verify Failed" ( this has been done on all 3 HDs to make sure it's not my hard drive). I ran memtest 1.65 to see and received thousands of errors. I do have the latest bios installed and have loaded Optimized setting. The dram voltage is set to default at 2.5 but I tried up it up to 2.8 and memtest still failed within a second and on all tests I believe. other Dram settings were either set to auto or preset and I did not tampered with it in anyway. I'm currently using OCZ Performance Series dual channel 2 gigs sticks 3-3-3-8 PN: OCZ4002048PFDC-K Please help me solve the problem as it's really annoying to spend hours downloading something then being unable to quickpar (quickpar isn't the problem)it ---along with the random restarts. ---Hades.
  4. I am having the same problem as well on my DFi NF4 Ultra-D mobo... I bought two serial port back plates and one Usb to Serial port cable but comp doesn't seem to detect... I follow setup in Bios as indicated http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...ers+serial+port If you search around the forum, you see a lot of problems with serial Port from DFI and no fixes. I researched before I bought the motherboard, but for a 100+ bucks worth of a motherboard, the serial header doesn't seem to work for shizzle.
  5. GhettoSuperstar, Windows device manager, shows in "Ports (COM & LPT) that i have a communications port (COM1), I do not see COM 2 in device manager when set auto for Serial in bios as well as other IRQs. Please keep me updated with your findings.
  6. I've made sure that I plug the cable into the right place... I even went as far as resetting the CMOS then reenabling serial port to AUTO but still it doesn't work. Device Manager recognizes that I have a COM Port but whenever I try to connect the device to the comp using the tool, I get the error message "NO Available Com port"
  7. I've done that already, it should be plug and play (as on the other comp I tried) all I needed to do was plug the device to my compa nd use a program to connect, but the program gives an error message, saying "NO Available Com port" Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks, -Hades
  8. I bought a cable similar to this one DB9M SERIAL ADD-A-PORT ADAPTER WITH BRACKET http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat%5Fid=908&sku=09480 just without the bracket and connected to my dfi mobo's serial port header, then plugged my device via a serial port connector cable. After that I enabled serial port in bios for auto but still was not able to get the device to be recognized in windows via a tool. to test out if the cables I bought worked properly, I used my other computer and was able to get it recognized and loaded firmware into my device. I've did a couple searches on the forum in regard to the problem, but really didn't get any concrete solutions aside from ordering a new cable from DFI. When I use the tool to connect from comp to the device, I get the error message "No vailable Com port" However, In device manager, it clearly states that I have a serial port (COM 1) Any help would be appreciated. -Hades
  9. I tried taking the Zalman and cleaned both the cpu and the zalman then reapplied a rice grain sized of AS5 put everything back on and then start up the comp... did some testing then leave it idle... same thing w/ stock settings. Idle temp at 35C load is at around 50C. At this rate, OCing is a big no no and it's too risky for me to pop out the IHS. Is it time to get a better fan/heatsink such as the XP-90?
  10. I'm currently using Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu. trgl, is your temp w/ stock frequency or overclocked? If anyone can answer the vcore question, it would be much appreciated.
  11. Hi guys, I'm kinda worry with my Opteron 175's temp at load (at stock setting). MBM5 and Everest is indicating it to be at 50C when I'm running heavy encodings at the same time (CPU usage indicated by win xp task manager is 98% so I think it's at load ). When Idle, it's around 35C. W/ 50C at load, I'm worried that if I OC this sucker, I'd have to resort to my intel celeron 1ghz comp soon. Should I take out the Zalman then clean and resurface the chip with AS5? any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I am new to OCing and all and have been reading a lot of the great guides and was thinking of OCing soon. Newbie question coming up--->If when overclocking, I keep vcore at stock setting and only set changes to others, would CPU temp be the same or jump up the shizzle? Thanks, -Hades
  12. Hi guys, this is the first time posting at this great forum, which I have been reading and gathering information from lately I am in the process of building a new comp (the specs are listed below). The problem is that I bought the OCZ Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Dual Channel Kit System Memory http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820146970 and later found out from this forum that the Timing: 3-3-3-8 wasn't recommended or something. I have not open the ram yet, do you guys recommend that I return the ram and get new ones, or will suffice as I plan to overclock the Opteron 175 Would this be recommended? G.SKILL Extreme Series 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820231032 I am still waiting for my mobo to arrive (five days already, that's a lifetime). -Hades
