  1. So I ended up just changing the HT to its default 4x instead of Auto and the Multiplier to 10x since both where on Auto, and it’s seemed to stop. Cold booted fine four times in a row, but if I experience the problem again I'll make sure I reply.
  2. No errors :confused: I wonder if replacing the CMOS battery with a new one would do anything.
  3. Right I'll get straight to my problem, this only started happening yesterday with my nForce 3 chipset. My problem involves cold booting the PC, there will be no audible beep from the speaker and the monitor will stay off but the fans will start spinning as normal. I go to turn it off from the PSU then switch it back on again and it boots up fine. :confused: I've managed to repeat the process, which all result in being able to boot up fine after powering it down again. I can assure you nothing is wrong with my memory modules, as everything runs fine like it has been for the past three months as well as being stable. If your wondering no I haven’t overclocked yet I'm still running stock speeds on both my memory modules and my CPU so basically I wonder if the Antec is too blame here? P.S Antec PSU / DFI NF3 250gb where purchased back in 2005, but the memory modules where purchased a few months back. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

  6. Hey guys, I have a question regarding my Socket 754 3000+ Newcastle Core. I wanted to know what would be the best recommended voltage along side a 2.3/2.4GHz increment from the stock 2.0Ghz? I've noticed post lag when I power it up so I believe the CPU isn’t getting enough voltage in order to post as fast as it does with stock speeds. Any help would be appreciated as all I’m after is a voltage recommendation.

  8. Attempted to go a bit further this time, 2.3GHz as my PC refuses to boot windows at 2.4GHz. At current the full load temp using prime95 scores around 52deg after a few hours and sits between 50-52. Not bad I guess for stock cooling as Idle temps sit around 38-40. Screenshots below... Basically wanted to know from the community again if you think the voltages are looking good enough, but its stable afaik.   9. So I've decided to try and aim with 2.2ghz on my 754, but I just wanted to know if these settings are recommended (voltage wise). Reading threw some of the overclocking guides I've come to this conclusion within my BIOS. Genie BIOS Settings: FSB Bus Frequency - 220 FSB AGP Bus Frequency - 66mhz Clock Spread Spectrum - Disabled LDT Downstream Width - Auto LDT Upstream Width - Auto LDT/FSB Frequency - Auto CPU/FSB Frequency Ratio - 10 CPU VID Control - 1.275v CPU VID Special Control - Above VID * 126% Chip Set Voltage Control - 1.60v AGP Voltage Control - 1.50v DRAM Voltage Control - 2.8v My DRAM configuration settings are all on Auto. So I'm wondering if this is a good overclock setup, but I’m gradually trying to aim higher. Only problem is im running it on air and using the stock heatsink/fan. Any input is appreciated
  10. Problem solved, invested in an Antec TruePower 2.0 550W and it boots up fine now. Thanks for the tip davidhammock200.
  11. Well I just put the OCZ in and its still doing the same thing, ill try the BIOS see how that goes. Update, I tried an older BIOS but it produced the same result. Im wondering if the board needs to be RMA'd at this stage, because I've tried 3 different types of memory brands and it simply wont post with 2x512. But with 1x 512 it posts fine,also on the same topic would cranking the DDR voltage to 3.00 make any change?
  12. OK, did a fair bit of testing regarding your methods, but nope it just dosnt like my specific Corsair ram. Anyhow im switching over to OCZ so I basically wanted to know if this OCZ memory will work ok with socket 754's since it there is no duel channel on the NF3 250GB 754 mobo afaik.
  13. I havnt tried DIMM 2 & 3 but I have tried DIMM 1 & 3 with no go will try that combo and post back results. Update: I've tried DIMM 2 & 3 but its still doing the same thing. Considering purchasing this memory for my board if nobody has a solution. Wanted to know if anyone recommends this specially for NF3 250Gb? OCZ Gold C2 PC3200 EL DC CL2 DDR 1Gb Kit.
  14. I have this rather weird problem with my current setup, you see I ditched my GIGABYTE K8NS Pro a couple of weeks back since I was having several problems with it especially with memory speeds. So anyway I jumped on the DFI bandwagon haven’t looked back the board is great, finally got my DDR400 memory to run at the actual speeds for once, but I’ve had a recent problem upon me putting in my other Corsair CMX512-3200C2 stick that just arrived back from an RMA Process. The problem lies when I turn off my computer at the power point or leave it switched off for some time using the PSU switch at the back of the case. Upon cold booting my computer will not post at all, but if I take out one stick of ram it boots up fine. Same goes with the other Corsair stick they both work fine on there own but if I seat them into the DIMM slots and reboot the BIOS recognises 1GB of total ram and its been stable for about 2 days now playing Battlefield 2, video encoding ect. I had to repeat this pretty much each time I turned off my computer but, so this is why I’m posting I’m baffled as to what’s causing this problem. I considered the CMOS battery to be the problem but although the board is new and hasn’t given any indication of BIOS settings being lost I don’t think it could be the setback. Encase your wondering the Corsair ram is not duel channel, and both are different revisions v5.1 and v5.2 so this may explain why. I’ve also included some screenshots of SmartGuardian and CPUZ if that’s going to help identify any further problems. Any help to revolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
