  1. Did you ever get it fixed? I had a similair problem with my verizon dsl. One tech told me my onboard NIC was bad, but after trying several changes, no luck. When I called back, another tech told me if I could access the modem, then there was nothing wrong with my NIC. It was a setting in the modem (I had to change it to bridge). So I wonder if a lot of these NIC problems are not actually modem problems. Everything works fine, now.
  2. Mine defaulted to RGMII, but I changed it to Pin Strap. I just want to know what is best.I
  3. What should I set the MAC media interface to in the bios? I have it set to pin strap, but there are two other options. I have a dsl modem using verizon dsl. I assume my board does not have the marvell chip set since I do not see it in the bios. The only difference I saw from pin strap to RGMII was that pin strap had fewer options in advanced tab under the NIC card controller.
  4. I am not sure what you mean. Did you try the 6.6 drivers?
  5. I would like to know if this is a problem with newer versions of nvidia's ide drivers. I am considering using the 6.6 ide drivers. Some say these improve performance.
  6. Well, I used the GART drivers from 6.37 and SMBus from 5.10 and installed as described above. I don't actually think it is necessary to replace the files in the folder, but you would have to run 2 seperate install procedures if you don't. I think replacing the files is the simplest. After the install, the unknown pci went away in control panels. I did not install the ide drivers since the MS drivers seem to work fine. So I will avoid them unless someone does a test before and after Nvidia drivers. Thanks everyone.
  7. You can find the latest audio drivers here: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dlac97...8&Software=True

  9. omga14, you say you don't have any problems with the IDE drivers, but do you notice any advantages? I just installed the SMBus and GART so far. I can't tell any difference. But at least no problems
  10. Thanks, can you tell me which SMBus driver you use? Also what do the GART and SMBus do? I have read that the Nvidia IDE drivers often conflict with DVD burners. Have youexperienced this? If not, did you find any benefit from installing them?
  11. I asked this is my other thread, but didn't get an answer. Since that thread actually dealt with another issue, I thought that I would ask it in a seperate thread. Will I see any real benefit from installing the GART, SMBus and IDE drivers from Nvidia? Can you tell me what they do? Which version is the best? I don't like to install drivers just because they are there. My system seems stable, but Sisoft Sandra indicates that there is no SMBus installed. I still have the unknown PCI device listed in Control Panels. Anyone know why this is? All my installed devices show up correctly and, as I said, the unknown device was there before I put anything in. Thank You

  13. What is the computer doing when it switches off? If you are overclocking anything, revert back to stock and see if that stops it. I get reboots when I use CCE video encoder. It happens because of error codes in Win 2000 and there is a software patch for it. If it turnsoff just while it is sitting there doing nothing, then I don't know. I believe there is a way to log errors, but I never tried it.
  14. I boot from an sata drive and have 2 ide drives with no problems, but I did have a problem with getting my ide cables to seat completly. (I hate those yellow tubes they put around the ribbon cables.) It took several reinsertions before I finally got the drives to all work. I was sure that I had a faulty drive until I tied a flat cable. I was then able to get the yellow tube cable to work. If you have a spare 80 wire ide ribbon cable, you might try it. I found the flat cables a lot easier to seat.
  15. Since I don't use the sound or lan, which ones do I really need and what do they do. I assume all I need is the gast and smbus. But since the 'puter works without them, what will thay do for me? Thanks.
