Hi, I'm new to these forums, but have been browsing through manys posts within the last few days. I've been reading and doing much research because I am about to build my first computer. This new rig will be mainly used for school work, video games, movies, internet, etc. I also plan to OC the cpu to about 2.4Ghz with air. My budget is very tight at $1000 + or - $100. (includes monitor in price)
The components are as follow:
DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 ULTRA-D nForce4 Ultra Athlon 64 $125.00 @newegg
Thermalright XP-90 @SVC $30.00 after shipping
Panaflo 92mm $10
NEC Black IDE DVD Burner Model ND-3540A OEM $41.99 @Newegg
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA NCQ ST3160827AS 160GB 7200 RPM 8M Cache Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - OEM $92.00 @newegg
Components I'm still debating and questionable about are:
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+* 939pins $126.00 after shipping @ewiz (still debating if I should go with the new E6 or stick with the E3?)
Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-500 $61.74 @costcentral
Fortron 500W Blue Storm AX500-A ATX12V $71.07 @ewiz????
Ram: Looking for OCZ value vx, but can't seem to this ram or any good stable ram under $100
I was pondering about the differences between these two rams:
Which ram would you get or would their be a better ram choice for around that price?
Videocard: 6600gt $150
any recommendations on which one to get? (should i just get a refurb 6200tc and wait a few months until 6800's drop in price)
Case: I'm looking for a good aluminum case that'll reduce heat and has good air flow. The following are the cases I found that I thought were decent(The case has to be black and also needs to have a side panel window): $100
Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000BWA Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail $120.00 after shipping
Lian-Li PC-7BPlus Windowed Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Case with clear side-window
Total thus far without monitor is approximately: $850-900
Monitor-Whatever is left over from my budget will be spent on this last component. I'm looking at some lcd, but can't seem to find one I like. Has to be 17-19 inches with at least 12ms response time. DVI is also a must!
All opinions and comments are welcome! Thanks!!!
