  1. Anyone think they can tangle with my system?? I'm on Air so I'm only LOOKING to compete with systems on Air. My system is in my siggy. Think yours is better?? Go ahead and post....IF YOU DARE!!
  2. Thanks for all the input! I ordered the Opteron. It will be here Friday. Now I only hope I can figure out to O.C. it properly and not fry it!
  3. thought I should list this in OC section best dual core CPU for overclock these are at top of my price range: 1. Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Manchester stock speed 2.2 ghz $355 2. AMD Opteron 170 Denmark stock speed 2.0 ghz $394 (I've read this is Opteron's "sweet spot" in terms of overclockability) 3. Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo stock speed 2.2 ghz $460 Will overclock with thermalright aircooled solution (no water) will use mostly for gaming, multitasking and video encode/decode if given the option would rather spend less $$$ for more O.C.!! (keep in mind no water)
  4. best dual core CPU for overclock on a LP n4F UT SLI-DR: 1. Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Manchester stock speed 2.2 ghz $355 2. AMD Opteron 170 Denmark stock speed 2.0 ghz $394 3. Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo stock speed 2.2 ghz $460 Will overclock with thermalright aircooled solution (no water) will use mostly for gaming, multitasking and video encode/decode
  5. Might mention I'm already getting a new GPU, going with new EVGA geForce 7900 GT , if that helps. I'm stoked, it should be here Friday Also will look into hotfix
  6. I'm a big multi-tasker who enjoys encoding video or making DVD's while net surfing etc. I am also an avid gamer (mostly CS:S) my current setup is shown in sig, but I am helping my nephew build/buy a system and I am thinking about selling my Venice core Athlon 64 to him for cheap and going to an Athlon X2 4200+ or 4400+ dual core since I've read reviews which rates as being great (read: fast) cpus as well as extremely competent gaming processors for someone who likes to have a few progs going at once etc. (I've also had them personally recommended by a computer shop system builder that I play online with. I've built alot of systems but still an amateur compared to this guy!) Does anyone have opinions/experience with this and will it transition okay on the motherboard in my sig. (DFI prod. page shows it is compatible with my mobo) Also if you guys DO recommend I do this what steps should I take to ensure an easy pain free transition (like BIOS updates, or chipset driver and vid. card updates and also what order to do everything in) Also hopefully this will not mess up my RAID 0 as I have lots of data I really don't want to lose.
  7. smartguardian (i guess this is safety monitor?) says CPU 29 C is this good??
  8. Man, I can't wait to get my hands on the new G5 Laser gaming mouse that Logitech is coming out with. I have an old 800 dpi junky one with the feet worn off. It's like trying to drag a cheese grater accross my mouse pad. Any body else excited about this? I hope it's out by mid-September. http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products...&categoryid=491
  9. Yeah its at Frozen CPU. It is an Innovatech modded Ehiem I assume. You can see the 12v. connection in this pic of the back of the pump: So would you use this? Also considering Asetek waterchill cpu block
  10. OR OR PLUS THIS: AND THIS: Swiftech Storm vs. Danger Den TDX Ehiem 12v. pump vs. Danger Den DD12V-D5 Thermochill PA160 vs. Danger Den Black Ice Extreme II Lunasio DFI LANPARTY NF4 SLI Chipset waterblock vs. Stock MOBO Fan/Heatsink Danger Den slim line SLI GPU cooler or Something else (will anything else fit?) 2 different reservoirs 2 different coolants Swiftech vs. Innovatech Along with a super quiet Papst 4412FGL Radiator fan (or fans if using BlackIce) And 1/2" Tygon Tubing Planning whole system to be 1/2"
  11. I am pieceing together my own custom built water cooling system. It's my first time to do any water cooling. I'm designing it myself with all my dream parts. This is going to be WAY more fun than just buying a kit. I've narrowed it down to several top end parts. Which ones would you guys go with if you were building this? Fell free to mention parts other than those I have included here: (56k BEWARE!) OR OR OR OR OR ???
  12. I'm planning on doing some watercooling. I have lots of great options for the CPU but I can't find a waterblock solution that will fit the chipset on my MOBO (listed in SPECS) with a video card installed. I want to know if its necessary to cool it more (than the stock cooler that's on it is able to at least) in order to achieve my max. OC. Generally speaking, is the temperature of the chipset affected by overclocking the same way that the temperature of the CPU is? If so do chipset temps typically just go up a little bit while the CPU temps go up alot or will they both go up alot? Also for you water cooling guys, I'm assuming you should use a thermal paste like Arctic Silver 5 on water blocks the same as you would on an air cooled heat sink. Am I right?
