  1. Does anyone have any experience using the IDE driver with a DFI 250GB nf3? Thanks for your thoughts and input. br1229
  2. The RAID is disabled by default, so that wasn't what was causing the error. As far as the "missing or corrupt ntldr.exe" error, that was caused by the computer trying to boot from one of my IDE drives, not the other SATA so disabling the other SATA controllers wouldn't have changed anything. BTW, I am no longer having any problems or issues since switching to the other controllers. br1229
  3. I know about the issue with the ports being locked but the problem seems to be related to those ports. Since switching over, I haven't had any issues. Are one or both of the ports defective, or do you think it's a compatability issue? I am not OC'ed now but in the future if I decide to, I will switch back and let everyone how it goes. Thanks. br1229
  4. Thanks for explaining this, msmolt. I switched the SATA connections from 3/4 to 1/2 and it seems to have corrected the problem.... we'll see. If it comes back, I will try what you suggested. thanks. br1229
  5. I'm sorry, but could you explain what you mean by "turn off the boot order"? Thanks br1229
  6. I'm having the same problem with my computer. It either say "detecting array" or I get an error message "missing ntldr.exe" When I get the "detecting array" message, I reboot and the computer starts up normally. When I get the "missing ntldr.exe" message, I have to go into the bios and change the boot priority so that it will boot from the correct drive. Then it boots up fine. This only seems to happen when booting up in the morning, after the computer has been off all night. I tried upgrading my PS and put in a new cmos battery but the problem persists and has actually gotten worse. I am not sure what is causing this but someone should have some ideas. Anybody? br1229 P.S. I am booting from the barracuda SATA if it makes a difference.

  8. Wouldn't the total be 54(18x3) rather than the 42 listed in the first post? br1229 P.S. Ordered one last night.
  9. Same here. Bump the voltage and you should be fine. br1229
  10. It means that you probably didn't read the manual. "When the DRAM power LED lit red, it indicates that power is present on the DDR sockets. Power-off the PC then unplug the power cord prior to installing any memory modules. Failure to do so will cause severe damage to the motherboard and components." I hope that's not the case. Good luck! br1229
  11. I recently ordered an athlon 64 3400+ from Fry's and was expecting a newcastle core because it was advertised as having a 512 l2 cache. What I actually got was the clawhammer. Which one is better? Should I be upset because they sent this one instead of the newcastle? Thanks, br1229
  12. I bought one of these based on everyones recommendation and the reviews at newegg. All I can say is WOW! These things rock! The best $200 dollars you will spend. br1229
  13. Picked up a 3400+ for 55.00. Not a bad price. Thanks for the heads up, Barn! br1229
  14. The link doesn't appear to be valid although the link to the rebate is. I searched for the product at the site and it wasn't listed. I tried calling the toll free number but it just rang and rang. Finally a recorded message said that the mailbox was full and to try again later. I don't know what's going on here but I sure would like to buy one! br1229 Update: I finally reached someone at Monarch and was told that they were all out and wouldn't be getting any more in. The entire powerstream line is being discontinued.
  15. If you are installing more than one stick of memory, the speed will be limited to 166 but this can be manually adjusted in the BIOS and set to 200. br1229
