  1. There's only one defect here. There are people using the board without problems. If the board is defective how do you explain that ? If you've had a bad experience that's fine but I get annoyed at you constantly claiming the board is defective when i've had no problems with it for months and months. You constantly doing that just brings me to the conclusion that you are a kid who doesn't know what he's doing. 3. You can say whatever you like. Mine is fine. IT'S BEEN FINE FOR MONTHS. NO PROBLEMS SAVING ANY SETTINGS FIRST GO. I overclock FINE. Here is my setup with this board using *BIOS 711* Lian Li V1000+ aluminium case LANPARTY UT nF3 ULTRA-D (with Swiftech MCX159 chipset cooler) Topower 580W Power supply Winchester 3200+ CPU (with Thermalright XP120 +panaflow fan) 2 x Kingmax 512mb DDR500 ram (installed in the slots farthest from the CPU forget the color) Maxtor 300GB 16mb cache SATA - Diamondmax10 Audigy 2 ZS Soundcard Albatron Geforce 6800 Ultra (with Zalman VF700-Cu VGA Cooler) Here are my BIOS SETTINGS: FSB : 260 Multi: 10X AGP : 67 LDT : 3X Cool+quiet : Disable CPU VID : 1.550V CPU Voltage : +0.2 Chipset Voltage : 1.75 Memory Voltage : 2.9 AGP Voltage : 1.5 Dram settings : Memory Hole : Enabled Max MEMclock : 200 1T/2t : 1T CAS Latency : 3 RAS TO CAS Delay : 5 TRAS : 10 ROW Precharge : 5 Everything else is AUTO EXCEPT Refresh Rate : 3120 Cycle DDR Output Driving : Weak This is 100% stable for me, absolutely not ever a problem. I like this board. It appears to undervolt but you can just adjust it, the sensors seem to work OK except for one thing, the CPU temp does flick down occasionally but flicks straight back up. Using Smartguardian I couldn't tell you if the reading is 100% accurate but it seems to be, when I put the thing under full load the temp goes up. So a minor problem.
  4. I can only state, i've had no problems whatsoever with this motherboard. It works as advertised. The only drawback or glitch seems to be the undervolting of the vcore. Which you can adjust anyway. The chipset fan is a little dodgy but I replaced it as soon as I bought it. I'm not sure about sensors, I guess I could test them if you like, what's a good program to see temps ? I've had no problems WHATSOEVER changing BIOS options with any bios except 815 and no problems with cold booting at any stage of owning the board. I see alot of people pushing their ram out of spec and expecting miracles, I dunno. Just understand there's people using this board who are happy with it. I know I am.
  5. That bios was no good for me, it wouldn't let me set my FSB above 216. I've had no problems with BIOS releases up to that point. I have used Winflash to flash my bios from windows everytime too. I'm back to 711 again, no issues with it. I can see why it's a beta bios, I don't really recommend trying it, wait until they release the real one.
  6. I just install the AGP GART driver from 5.10. Then download the nforce4 drivers version 6.66 and install everything else from them, works fine.
  7. The nForce3 Ultra chipset officially supports a 1 GHz HyperTransport link. Every motherboard released with this chipset reports that in their specifications in some way. I'm not sure where information to the contary comes from. I don't mean to be insulting to the mods of this forum but i'm genuinely interested how you arrive to the conclusion that this chipset does not officially support that speed. Please note i'm talking about the Nforce3 Ultra chipset not other variants of the Nforce3. Boards released by MSI, Gigabyte, Epox, DFI based on this chipset all list 1ghz or 2000mt, not 800mhz or 1600mt.
  8. Have you tried increasing the chipset voltage ?
  9. Posting again. Just to state again, I've had no real issues with this board. This is my current 100% stable setup. My HTT is 260 on a Winchester 3200+ my memory is set at 200. CPU : 2.6 ghz MEM : 520 DDR http://members.ozemail.com.au/~renevant/fi...t260-mem520.JPG To the guy threatening a class action, all I have to say is OMG you will be laughed at if you go ahead with it. The only issue that seems to be prevalent is the undervolting of the cpu, whether this effects overclocking I don't know I can guarantee though that this board overclocks better than my Gigabyte K8NS Ultra-939 did which is what I was using previously. The maximum I could get to with it was 250HTT. I've messed around with an Asus a8V rev2 also and couldn't go above 240HTT. Seriously. I don't see how some people are jumping up and down whining about the board when there are people with no problems. I suppose it's possible that because I'm using a winchester that i'm spared. If you want my honest opinion though this is a pretty good board I don't really see why people are going so feral. I feel like doing a dual layer burn with data verfication on now just to prove this board is fine I got a blank sitting here. 10. Having fun with this board. Messing around with a 3000+ winchester today. Couldn't really push it very far but my cheap kingmax memory is working hard. I dropped the multiplier to 8X and set the memory to 166, then I set the HTT to 310. So my Kingmax DDR500 is running at DDR500. Timings I use are : 3-5-5-10 1T every other setting is left on AUTO. Over 7000 in sandra mem benchmark. VDIMM is 2.8V. Bios 705 working without any problems, no problems saving settings. It's totally stable I've been gaming with Warhammer 40K:Dawn of War all afternoon, no crash. So I know I got a board capable of at least 310 HTT which is cool. EDIT : I edited this post because I was wrong about the speed of the memory, post is accurate now, I know this ram is good to at least 520. I just upped the HTT to 315, i'll see how it goes. Here's what Sandra says : http://members.ozemail.com.au/~renevant/315htt166mem.JPG
  11. I'm not really sure why people are complaining about this board. I've only had it for a few days but it seems fine to me. One thing to look out for is the SATA ports on this motherboard. If you overclock it looks like you HAVE to use slots 3 or 4 because ports 1 and 2 go via a PHY that is NOT bus locked. I haven't really done much overclocking so far but my 3200+ winchester is currently cruising along fine being overclocked by half a gigahert i.e my HTT is at 250. I have my kingmax ddr500 ram also running at 250 (ddr500) with the 1T setting on. Pulling 6800mb/s in sandra. The thing with all a64 boards is, memory settings. I have DDR500 memory and I know what the within-spec settings for it are (ie 3-5-5-10), so i'm fine. No problems, stable. Haven't updated the bios.
