  4. I had a HR-03 cooler, the fan mounts directly into the fins with clips. The clips started to actually pull the fins of the heatsink off the heatpipes, personally I would not reccomend but you may have better luck.

  6. I was going to save for the r600 because it HAD to be faster coming out many months after the 8800gtx. Luckily I decided to get the 8800gtx o/c'd. I'm not any companies fanboy but I have had more success with nvidia as far as performance goes. I love AMD's cpu's but they really dropped the ball on this one. Even equivalent performance to the 8800gtx would have been disappointing, but worse? Come on AMD
  7. R600 is getting owned in almost every test, and unless the resolution is over a 2k width the extra memory gddr4 doesnt seem to help. Hopefully this thing doesnt cost more then 400, amd seems to be in big trouble with this pos http://it-review.net/index.php?option=com_...d=1314&Itemid=1
  8. 11.97v on the 12v rail if ur not doing anything really strenuous on the computer seems a bit low maybe
  9. Ya, I was very sceptical when they thought maybe my PSU was not up to spec, I chose this PSU specially for this card after readings lots of reviews as well as its recommendation here. The card has been rather quirky from the get go and I have no reason whatsoever to think that the PSU is broken. Just to add: At stock the 8800GTX ran easily 3dmark06 for 8 hours without a hitch on my computer.
  10. I was wondering this question awhile ago too. -BR is simply a part number that corresponds with a refurbished card. It's not a new revision.
  11. Im currently running the rig in my signature but just recently got my 8800GTX AC3S edition from evga which runs at 626/1000 clock speeds. When I first got it ,it was getting bluescreens, artifacts, and the air coming out the back was hot enough to burn you. I clocked it to stock and ran it for a few days with no problems. I clocked it back up and the air doesnt seem as hot as it did I suppose maybe getting that hot produced a better seal on the heatsink, but now im getting freezing and artifacts at 626/1000. Evga thinks maybe my PSU may not be able to give the card enough juice. anyone have an idea?
  12. I have seen multiple places where the people at level505 have admitted to having strong affiliations with AMD/ATI. I have always preferred Nvidia but I wouldnt hesitate to buy an ATI if the r600 is as good as people are hyping it to be. Nevertheless I would take that review with a grain of salt.
  13. Ya, its extremely irritating cuz it obviously messed up something else, even though its still working kind of. I noticed it only happens when I pull the power cord out of the computer. Thought it might be the battery, put a new one in, still does it. GG
  14. I've been running into this weird problem lately after I had a faulty replacement harddrive sent to me from WD. The thing literally shut down my computer after getting a disk error, after that I had to clear the CMOS for 30 minutes just to get it to post again. Ever since then, every time I change a device in my computer (Even adding something like a fan), I have to completely reseat my RAM to get the computer to post again. Anyone else get anything like this before?

  16. you think its possible to equate a certain number of minutes or hours of occt with prime95? I did 2 hours of OCCT earlier completely stable.
  17. Now my computer is actually working, I'm working on trying to get it stable. I know some programs seem to be quirky with Amd's where some are with Dual-Cores. I've been running stability programs trying to make sure my CPU is completely stable before I start tweaking my ram timings. I ran Prime95 for 12 hours before getting an error in core 1 of my cpu. Prime ran CPU & Memory test using 800 on each core of my 2 gigs. OCCT ran its 30 minute stability for the CPU only and said it ran perfect. Gonna try STRESSCPU now and see what happends. What do you guys use to define your computer as stable?
  18. Ya i know what you mean, those intermittent problems are the absolute worst to diagnose. Thank god I finally fixed it as I was going to light my computer on fire soon if I had'nt.
  19. Well, After priming for 7 hours I think its pretty safe to say I have found the problem. The videocard. I have never in my building experience come across such a weird and majorly intermittent problem. Finally I can play some games without having to worry about my computer shutting off.
  20. I dont believe there is a thermal throttling option in the infinity bios. Yes I do have that Antec Trio in there for the moment. The really f'd up thing is that it primed for 7 hours last night before it shut off, no errors. It wasnt a faulty power switch and it pretty much leaves. 1. My raptor HDD 1. The CPU (even though its theoretically stable as hell) I tested my buddies ram in my computer and it still shut off, I also tested my Ram and Video card and his with no problems. Im going to get a HDD from my friend tonight and if that doesnt work. I'm gonna go nuts and RMA EVERYTHING in the computer.
