  1. I have a DFI Lanparty NF3 Ultra D based system. I just picked up a FireLite 160GB USB drive to transfer video between this machine and my laptop. The drive works in my laptop, but will not run when plugged into the front USB ports on the NF3 board. My guess is the ports are limited to 100mAH instead of 500mAH, but I can't find anything in the specs. Is there a jumper or BIOS setting that can be adjusted? Thanks.

    PowerColor X1950 PRO video card

Thanks for the tip, although I have no plans to go dual or quad core until the next computer build.
  3. I went over to the dark side and purchased a PowerColor X1950 PRO 256MB AGP graphics card. I was pleased to see somebody had finally released a high performance graphics card in AGP form. Anyway, this card is big, if you go this route make sure you have the room in your case. I had to move the hard drives to make room in front of the card, it is 1" longer than the eVGA 6800GT it replaced. Also, the GPU heatsink hits the chipset fan and prevents the card from going into the AGP slot. I simply removed the chipset fan (not the heatsink), the exhaust from the GPU fan blows on it and keeps it cool. My Antec case was wide enough so the top of the cooler fit easily inside the case.
  4. I have added two more NEC CD/DVD burners to my machine (for a total of 4). Previously, the bottom 5.25" bay was empty, but with a drive installed the drive interferes with the power supply connector on the motherboard. It fits, but I would rather not have the pressure on the wires. Does anybody make a low profile or right angle adapter for the 20 pin molex PSU connector? Thanks.

    chipset fan not working?

    Here is what I replaced my fan with . . . . .http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...ght=chipset+fan
  6. I had a similar problem a couple of months ago . . . . long enough that I don't remember exactly how I fixed it. Along with making sure you have it configured so the the mic input is a mic input and not a subwoofer output, I seem to recall disabling the digital input to get the mic to work. I will check tonight when I get home.

  8. I have a ZBoard (USB) and a Logitech MX-610 wireless laser mouse (USB) plugged into mine and everything is fine. This is in addition to the stock PS2 style keyboard. I use the ZBoard only for gaming, the regular keyboard for everything else. Have you tried booting with a regular keyboard nd mouse?

Loan Angry a 6800 AGP card?

I know this is a little off-topic, but has anyone tried the new nVidia 7800GS AGP series yet? If nothing else they are a bargain compared to what I paid for my eVGA 6800GT
  10. Check my signature, I'm running a 3700+ SD with the stock 602 (as shipped) bios. No overclocking, runs great.
  11. The 4 screws holding the fan onto the heatsink are threaded into the fins of the heatsink, not tapped holes, so be careful when unscrewing them or you can strip the pseudo threads and the screws will not stay in place. I used a little blue loctite to secure the screws when I replaced my fan.

    NF3 Ultra-D 939/AGP

Is this the secret to getting bios settings to work? I have had no luck at all with any bios except the original. So the sequence would be: Flash new bios Shut down, disconnect power Clear CMOS disconnect the SATA drive Power up Boot into bios Make bios changes Save changes reboot into bios Shut down, disconnect power Connect SATA drive power up Boot into windows I have been searching for the definitive sequence to solve the no post problem when trying to use any bios except the original.

How are you connecting the cassette player to the motherboard? If it is a standard analog cassette, you need to use the line in miniplug. You can buy an RCA to stereo miniplug cable. The SPDIF connectors are RCA style, but they will not accept analog inputs.

    fan for chipset

I did just what you describe for a couple of weeks, but I was tired of pulling the pc out of the cubbyhole, opening the side, removing the fan, lubing it, then putting everything back. The $5 fan took care of it.

    freezes getting into certain games

I don't know if I just got lucky or what, but my machine runs CS just fine, and I have an eVGA 6800GT. Original bios, fastwrites OFF.
