I've got a situation here... I want to make a computer as cheap but as fast as possible.
My plan is to reuse most of my parts from my current computer, a Gateway POS1800.
Basically I'm just keeping the drives, the videocard (ATI Radeon AIW 9800 Pro) and the case, but the rest will be all new. I decided to go for a Venice 3200, the new DFI NF3 Ultra board (since I've still got an AGP card), and some ram since my current setup has RD-ram.
My main concerns are price and speed. I wanna overclock a lot to get the most out of my dollar, but I'm not sure what ram would be best. On one hand I want to get the value ram because it's twice as cheap and not twice as slow. On the other hand, I don't want the ram to be the bottleneck of my system, and I'd like to run at 1-t without any problems... I'm looking for a gig set (2x512mb).
Any recommendations on cheap but fast ram? This will be a big help.
Also, my computer is going to be a hell of a sleeper... All of this in an old Gateway case... Heh.
