  1. Yeah, it's broke. It just stops at the BIOS screen showing the Asus AI logo and "Hit DEL to go to BIOS". Swapped everything with known good parts but the CPU. BTW if you check newegg.com, they don't sell it anymore... Was there yesterday, but not today... No BIOS beep codes, or anything. It's done the same thing every time. Gets to that screen and locks. Once in a while, I can hit TAB and see that it correctly sees the amount of RAM that I have in it, and the Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz Q6600, but that's all it does. Looking around the web, [H]ardOCP says it sucks, and so does everyone else I've seen. So, I'm going to wave goodbye to it. I've used more Asus boards than I can count, but their quality is definitely going downhill over the past few years. So it'll probably either be a MSI, XFX, or eVGA, as those are the big boards I see around currently with 780i chipsets.
  2. DDR3 is a bit pricey. I don't really want to go 790i. What 780i options are out there for DDR2 and SLI? If SLI wasn't in the game I'd do an Intel chipset, but I'm already committed to SLI.
  3. I was one of those Asus P5N-T Deluxe owners. Not that the board ever worked or anything. I mean, it's Asus, it's just supposed to work. I am not getting an RMA because the store I bought it from isn't selling them anymore! So I am now looking for a new MB. I have the Intel Q6600 already so I'm locked into that part. I also have 2xMSI 8800GT 512MB so SLI is a must. I expect to have to send back the memory, but that shouldn't be too big of a problem. What do the great readers of this forum, who are always right, suggest? My old DFI hasn't been problem free, but after a post or two here, it's been rock solid. Thank you for your help, as always.
  4. I'm working! Thanks for the help. Fix was to remove all the drivers in safe mode and then put them back in after rebooting. The installer must put in different libraries if it sees an SLI config because I put the same drivers back on that I took off. Thanks again for the help. You guys fix it every time!
  5. I'll try the safe mode thing when I get home tonight. Can I boot into safe mode with one card and still keep the jumpers on SLI? They're a real pain to move back and forth, even with the nice jumper puller that is supplied. Kudos to DFI for providing literally everything you could ever use with their MB. It's a 565w PS, not a 535. As two single cards the system works fine, stable, etc. So unless SLI mode specifically uses significantly more power, I'm not thinking this is a problem. I have the lastest drivers, but I did not remove them when I installed the second card. The first one worked just fine, and was a big enough boost that I thought I'd get a second card. I just plugged the 2nd card in. Messed around with trying to turn on SLI, then broke out the manual and found the jumpers.
  6. I've looked for it twice. Any hints on which section it's in. It's very possible that I'm just zipping by it, there are a lot of settings.
  7. Thanks for the initial posts. Here are my updates: Power Supply is a Enermax EG565P-VE(24P). When I originally bought it, it was supposed to be able to handle two 7800 GTX cards in SLI mode. My understanding is that 8800s are more efficient power wise. I added the extra two power connectors to the MB. Never had these in over two years, and the system has been a rock since I built it. "Most importantly the "Set PCI-Express configuration to '8-NC-4-8' and enable 'SLI Broadcast Aperture'." I assume that the PCI-E config mentioned is the jumpers. According to the manual, by setting the jumpers to 2-3, it is supposed to be in that mode now. SLI Broadcast Aperture is set to auto. There was just auto and disabled.
  8. So I've been doing various searches of the forums and haven't seen one I'm looking for so I'll explain what I have and see what your thoughts are. I am looking to replace my 7800 GTX with two MSI 8800 GT. Both cards work just fine in the box together. I can start up Crysis no problem, so I don't think I have a power problem. I originally got a big PS so that I would be able to go SLI one day if I wanted to. It's SLI certified. GPU-z shows them as 16x and 2x. After RTMing I realized that I needed to move the jumpers from single VGA mode to dual. No problem, all 6 modules are now 2-3. And SLI aperture sounded interesting so I enabled it too in the BIOS. I also used the SLI bracket. It doesn't say "this way up", so I figure it's universal, but I've tried it both ways anyway. Box posts fine. Get windows loading screen, then the screen blanks. I can hear windows complete booting and starting to find the other card. If I hit the shutdown button on the PC windows shuts down just fine as well. I thought maybe I have the wrong VGA interface, so I tried all 4. I expected it to be the top card port 1. Each time windows correctly beeped at me letting me know it had found a new device, each time, my monitor went back to sleep with no display. Reading the PCI2.0 problems sticky it sounds like what I have should work. I do know that when I do get into windows that I need to use the NVidia Control Panel and enable SLI mode. I'd appreciate any ideas you have. Thanks.
  9. I think this is the wrong section, I can't see a way to delete the thread so I'll just mention it here. I created a new thread in the video cards section. 10. Yeah. The 6/23-2 Bios fixed the issue. It works great now! Thanks for the help!
  11. Going through other threads, I keep seeing references to a 5/10 Bios version. I've checked DFI's site three times, and the latest BIOS version that I see is 2005/03/10. It can't be that hard to select my MB, click driver and look for the latest Bios, but it's just not there. If I'm up in the dark can someone please put a link up? Thanks.
  12. I have a 535Watt Enermax EG565P-FMA REV.2 FMA Series ATX 12V Ver.2.0 Support nVIDIA SLi Technology. I've also looked at DFI's website. I'm not seeing a BIOS version 510-2. Are you sure you're thinking the nF4 SLi-DR?
  13. I'm running into a problem with my new box. Every time I try to install windows with my OCZ OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K 2gb (2x1gb) EL DDR PC-3200 Platinum (2-3-2-5) DIMMS in slot2 and slot 4 I run into a BSOD with PFN_List_Corrupt when I do the first reboot. On occasion it wouldn't finish copying the initial set of files and I would BSOD with a IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL as the issue. When I ran memTest 1.60 after about 20 minutes memTest crashes with an unexpected interrupt error. If I just use one DIMM in slot 2 everything works great. Installed windows, couple of games, ran memTest, no problems. Reformatted and did the same thing with the other stick, no problems. Put both in, problems. I also tried doing everything above with just slot 4, but I don't even post. I tried setting the 2-3-2-5 settings in the BIOS with a DIMM voltage of 2.8, but I run into the same problem. Latest drivers on everything. Any ideas?
